Just a short message: This game was designed to be challenging. I did get into competitive battling in the 5th generation and as such I began to find Pokemon games easy. This game was by no way designed to be for Nuzlocke challenges. However, this does not mean that you can't attempt to do so.

The game does include Pokemon from the first 5 generations. Please note that the fairy type does not exist in this game. Unlike other rom hacks no 4th or 5th generation moves have been added to the game nor has the Physical Special split. This will potentially give a feel for what Pokemon would be like now without the Physical-Special split.

If at any point you wish to know anything about the game, the documents provided within the zip file should be able to answer them. Also be aware that there are 5 fakemon which will appear across the coarse of your journey, all of which resemble commonly seen Pokemon. 5 of these can be obtained later on if you wish to use them. Aside from the fakemon only one Pokemon has had stat alterations; Spinda. It has been buffed to have base stats of;
85HP 85Atk 85Def 85Spa 85Spd 60Spe.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please check the unique features in the spoiler below since they will affect the way in which the game is played from the original Pokemon games.
UNIQUE FEATURES:
Spoiler:
1) This game has removed the need for all HM's with the exception of Surf and Strength. Some of the other HM's are available but there is no requirement to use them.

2) Players are able travel quickly between towns that they have already visited using the "World Map Warp". To remove people who block the way players must do one of the following; beat the gym in that town, complete an event in that town or simply talk to the individual blocking the path. This has completely removed the need for the HM Fly which has been removed since it is unnecessary. Players can use this along with the maps that are provided in the zip files to get an idea of the Ontak region.

BUGS:
There are 5 glitches that have been found. These glitches are completely harmless and should just be ignored. The game will not freeze or break because of these glitches.
Spoiler:
1) After Choosing the name for your rival the colour pallet decides to change.
2) If the Female character is chosen the background become extremely glitchy. Once again it is clearly harmless and should be ignored
3) The text box sprite for some of the gym leaders may remain once you are finished talking to them. If you look at your party afterwards or walk out of the gym, this will disappear.
4) Some of the item scripts may not disappear after obtaining the items. These scripts will vanish upon accessing the party, bag or Pokedex.
5) You may encounter an issue when going underground to the Team Octavian Hideout in the town known as Coastside Villa. If this is an issue I have attempted to provide a means for you to still continue below.
Spoiler:

The issue here is that the movement permissions have remained the way I have wanted them to as have the positions of the NPCs. However, it seems as though the tiles that I placed have become all jumbled up and I can't explain why that is the case.

Unfortunatly not knowing why this is happening means that I am not sure how to fix the issue. So I am left with few options. So I have posted some image layouts of the 4 floors that are within the building. These will be edited with red and blue arrows to give you an idea of which direction you should head in order to get through.
* The red arrows will lead you downwards (which is the first half of going through the building)
* The blue arrows will lead you upwards (which you only want to do after getting to the bottom floor)
(this is the last spoiler btw)
Spoiler:

1st Floor

2nd Floor

3rd Floor

4th Floor

There is a chance that once arriving at the warp tiles on the second floor that you will loose track of where to go. Hopefully this image will clarify things. It's a simple 4 step process. Aim for the tiles which have been circled.
Spoiler:

STORY:
Spoiler:
The Ontak region was once a calm and lax natured region in the world of Pokemon. Ontak is often a forgotten region and has few memorable moments. But not all is well, the mountainous lands have succumb to terrors that were previously thought unimaginable. Ontak on the exterior may seem peaceful, but there is an underground war that is being fought in Ontak. The only thing that keeps the population of Ontak in complete denial of their detriment is that nothing is out of the ordinary on the surface. But in the Underworlds there are sinister plots at hand. On one stormy night a young trainer was born in the Southern Plateau and since that night there has never been rain on the Western Side of the Ontak region. Some believe that this is nothing more than circumstance but some have faith that this is a trainer with capabilities that have previously been unimaginable. The only thing that is certain is that this trainer has a clear goal in life. That goal is to be the very best like no-one ever was.

It's amazing how you are working on your own sprites and such! I haven't even started adding that to my own rom yet!

That being said, you need to work on all your sprites some more. They look a little messy and sloppy (just my opinion) and I think you need to slow down and take more time when you are working on them.

Good luck with your ROM though!

Thanks guys for some good comments.

And just to clarify a couple of things;
That is the titlescreen and that is how I wanted it to look. I understand that it is a bit if not very unusual and seems like it's not right, that is what I was aiming for.
As for the overworld sprites, they aren't perfect and I may fix them up later but at the moment, I think that they are passable.

If you notice any pokemon icons that are glitching or whatever you want to call it that are from the 4th and 5th generation. I am aware of this and although am not sure why it has happened I am trying to fix it up by the next Beta.

Cheers

Just a quick update message to say that the latest version has now been added under the download link. The Heros are now able to journey up to and beyond the 5th gym which should add 3 badges to their badge case.

Enjoy

Can you use Feraligatr's new sprites as well? I think they look better than its old sprites.

Feraligatr's sprite in Firered was actually the reason why I edited some of the old sprites. Because I agree with you, it looked bad. So Feraligatr has been changed. I'm not sure if these changes have been seen in the Beta that I have available for you now, but they will be there fore the next version.

"Nice looking hack dude, I am still trying to post mine ...... But really, how do you edit the title screen?"
"Nice looking hack dude, I am still trying to post mine ...... But really, how do you edit the title screen?"
I looked up youtube videos where there was a series on Pokemon Hacking. The one that I used to change the titlescreen was a series called "Hack with me" if you type that in the search box and maybe follow it with Pokemon it should come up

This is just a message to let everybody know that Pokemon Hollow Mysteries is now finished! That's right, despite this game being a one-man effort, I have invested the time into making this game what is it, and have finished it off. I hope everyone enjoys.

I've added a couple of screenshots of the Elite 4. Keep in mind that I did keep the original tiles that were in the game, all I have done is recoloured or edited some of them to suit the game.

Hi, the IPS doesn't work. I think the size is too small
Thanks for letting me know, I believe that I've fixed the problem. I've also provided the new link. So it should work this time :).

This hack has a lot of glitch kindly fix those issues and from my point of view this hack is not completed.
I'll do a speed play-through to see where these glitches are. Also, when you say that this hack is not complete, are you just referring to the fact that these glitches make the hack seem incomplete or is there something in you opinion that you think is unfinished?

There a 6 technical fakemon, all of which have been sprited by using other Pokemon. 5 of which are available in the game.
Jigglybuff is a normal Pokemon that has a better moveset and better stats then Jigglypuff. Flarnetric is a manectric that has fire type moves & is a fire/electric type.
Reversda is a Spinda with reversed colours and different moves
Toxiball is a Spheal with Walrein's stats & is a fire/poison type.
There is a special Magby with the stats of a Magmortar.
One of the Pokemon is explained in game and is part of the story.

I have noticed a couple of other issues with the game. But the problems that you list where not part of the game, so I'm not sure what you've done, but that shouldn't happen. I'm sorry I'm not quite sure how to fix it.

Although, there is a chance that you downloaded the patch that was a really small size and didn't work properly. You could wait for a bit until I fix as many errors as I see in the game and upload the fixed version or try again.

Either way, thanks for trying out the game, sorry it hasn't quite worked for you yet.
