Hael Clar

Personality: Hael's personality is... difficult. Not in the sense of being hard to describe, but in the sense of being hard to deal with. His default setting seems to be apathy as to the world around him and the lives and struggles of others. He takes this a step further as well, being reckless with his own safety and uninterested in his own well-being.

Hael is the sort of person who can shrug off even the most heart-wrenching of sob stories. He is very self-centred and has little attachment to anyone or anything. His interest lays only with his own pleasure, resulting in hedonistic and at times borderline sociopathic tendencies. He'll smuggle illegal booze into school and get wasted instead of studying like he should and setup very mean-spirited pranks that provide him with a sense of perverse satisfaction. He is not above picking a fight with someone much larger than himself (so anyone really) if he thinks it will be amusing for a while.

Simply put, Hael is a bit of an asshole. He wasn't born like that though, and rather events in his past changed his philosophy into something bleak enough to greatly warp his personality. In reality, whilst he has buried most of his feelings under mountains of apathy, Hael was originally a very caring person. Most of his negative traits stem from self-loathing and a distaste for the world around him rather than a strong desire to hurt others.

With a great deal of effort, it is possible to unearth the caring, humorous and intelligent fairy at Hael's core. However, doing so would likely result in a long and traumatic process.

History: Hael was born in the kingdom of the Earth Fae, one of four small fairy kingdoms n existence and one of the two located in the human realm. That means that while the Wind and Fire fairies who dwell in the Yokai Realm were experiencing a very free and open lifestyle, for the sake of safety, Hael grew up with a lifestyle of secrecy.

The young Hael though, was not one to relish in this secrecy. He was the curious sort and he wanted to explore. So explore he did, pushing boundaries further and further until eventually he got himself discovered. He was found by a young human boy and the pair quickly developed a hidden friendship, one that would change Hael's life forever.

The trouble came not long after Hael revealed his wish granting ability to his friend. The young boy entered into a well-meaning wish pact with Hael, but magic that powerful can be unpredictable and the result was twisted. That was the event that changed Hael from bright, curious and friendly to his apathetic, hedonistic and often unpleasant self. Why care about a world that is unfair? Why take care of himself when he's got hundreds of years of guilt to look forward to?

Hael's enrolment into the Yokai Academy is a last ditch attempt at discovering a way to fix his problem without potentially making it worse, but he doubts he'll succeed.

Weakness: Hael does not take care of himself. He's an alcoholic despite his youth, he doesn't exercise as much as he should and he's far too willing to throw himself into dangerous situations if he thinks it'll be fun. Shockingly, he doesn't put much effort into academics either.

Haruka Akiyama was caught off-guard by a young girl, maybe six years old, coming out of nowhere and complimenting her hair and outfit during an exploratory walk through her new neighborhood. She never met a succubus in real life, but the little girl's adorable charm felt reminiscent of the things she'd been told of them by her much more experienced parents. (For some reason, her dad cowered in fear of her mom when they spoke of succubi. Haruka was afraid to ask for details, and made a point to never bring it up.)

The girl's name was Lena Fujikawa. Haruka's family moved into the same cul-de-sac as hers. For her age, Lena was pretty busy; she'd already been going to piano lessons and a local dojo for a year by the time they met (the piano lessons apparently didn't last long). But she seemed to make time to talk with Haruka nearly every day, for reasons she couldn't completely understand. She always noticed something new, or had different questions to ask that she probably just didn't want to ask any adults.

Lena's parents noticed how she took to Haruka as well, and often asked her to babysit when the adults wanted to have some time to themselves, as it were. Haruka herself looked roughly fifteen if she were human (at least, that's the number she was going with), so she took the job and the girls became good friends despite the age gap.

As time passed it became rather evident that Haruka wasn't really growing. Admittedly, Lena's mother still looked quite young herself for being in her thirties, so she had an excuse if she needed one.

The problem was that Lena had accidentally seen her true form: Haruka was a fairy; but Lena only seemed to like her all the more, and her parents were completely accepting of this information. Thankfully, Haruka's parents didn't see any need to move again any time soon, especially since Lena was basically Haruka's only friend. (It didn't hurt that their dads were drinking buddies either.) It was the first time in the little over two decades they'd been among humans that they stayed in one place for more than a few years.

She lived a rather long life so far, but Haruka hadn't had much of a proper human education; and despite her relationship with Lena, who practically brute forced her way into Haruka's life, her people skills were pretty subpar. Kids grow fast, and she'd stopped growing many years ago. (Her parents were even using illusion magic to look more age-appropriate.)

She was home schooled, but that didn't mean much in human terms. She completed middle school at some point, but it'd been a long time and a few moves since then. With her family's location no longer subject to change, she eventually enrolled in Youkai, when Lena was in her last year of middle school.

On Lena's side, she grew into a real beauty. And her compliments and smile went from cute and something to protect, into dangerous and enticing. Typical for a growing succubus awakening to their powers, as Haruka's mother described it, but it was really wearing on Haruka, in more ways than one. It was hard for her to admit to herself that the girl she'd known since childhood was coming right into her strike zone, and did her best to hide it at first.

Worse for Haruka, Lena seemed completely oblivious to the destructive power she had. Whether it was intentional or not, the sense of distance between the two often felt next to nil whenever they were together, physical or otherwise. Although from Lena's perspective, there was probably never such a thing in the first place.

And Lena gave Haruka such attention—often at the detriment of her attention to other things—that she nearly knew Haruka better than Haruka herself. Not that other girls were exempt, as this perceptiveness seemed to be completely natural for her. But Haruka's mother mentioned on more than one occasion her progress in teaching Lena how to cook her favorite foods.

Haruka asked once or thrice since they first met if Lena ever made wishes, like on a star, but each time it was unabashedly about her. On the last time, Lena made it clear that she saw Haruka the same way Haruka came to see her.

She wasn't hurting for potential companions her own age, turned down a few and even accepted a couple others for a short while. She was prepared to be rejected as well, aware of the difficulties they'd both suffer through. But the fairy said yes instead. This was the most Haruka enjoyed her time in the human world; she was willing to give it a try.

Although, however intimate they became, it was with the knowledge that Lena was still quite young, and not even Haruka was considered an adult. The barrier built by age and experience in spite of Haruka's youthful demeanor proved too much at the time for both of them. To her surprise, it was Lena who acknowledged it first, and the two remained just as close since.

But later, when Lena, about to enter high school, proudly presented an acceptance letter to Youkai Academy (which she really should have seen coming), Haruka decided that if Lena's wish wasn't going to change, she'd make it come true.

Full name: Olivia de Roosevelt

Appearance: The rosary Olivia wears is a flower broach that sits on the collar of her many dresses. As with all vampires, Olivia's hair is silver, and her eyes radiate crimson red. One of her favourite dresses is lavender-coloured, decorated with lace, and buttoned neatly together in place. the lower half of this dress is a much darker shade of purple, a long dress that extends to the mid-section of her legs. she also wears high heel socks, and black dress shoes that are fashioned with a single buckle.

From the ever-grown high expectations of Olivia to exceed well with her enrollment of the Academy, she was also given another attire as a gift. This attire was passed down within her family for generations; a combat-oriented attire, tailored by the de Roosevelt ancestry. The dress is dark purple, decorated with silver lining to match her silver hair. Her rosary can still be in tact on her collar. The attire also comes with matching headgear; dark purple horns that resemble a goat. She attaches them from the back of her head, covering her ears, fitting neatly on each side of her head. Finally, it has a mask Olivia wears that covers up to the base of her nose. The mask can glow red in contrast of Olivia's crimson eyes.

Personality: As an heiress of an aristocratic society, Olivia has an almost enchanting air of dignity and grace. At first glance, Olivia can appear selfish and stuck-up, she is actually a very gentle and sweet young lady. She's smart, fair, and well-spoken. She also has a relaxed nature. More than anything, she likes to sit back, and observe, rather than act. Life is like a play for Olivia; she likes to take the audience role, as she watches each event unfold. She's rather easy going around others, and due to her observant nature, she's interested in learning about most individuals she meets.

From her high social standing, she enjoys ballroom dancing, and likes to unwind with a nice, cup of tea. Tea in particular she's oddly passionate about. She knows how to make many types of flavors, and likes to recite fun facts about them. Living in high society also allows her to truly appreciate proper etiquette. On the other hand, because she's quite closed and confided in those social norms, she sometimes has high expectations of individual's mannerisms. Her pet peeve is if others do not meet those expectations. Even with her easygoing nature, disappointment can cause brief turmoil from time to time.

Weakness: Failure is Olivia's biggest fear in life, leading to her blindly pursing perfection upon a bumpy road. She can easily stumble, and experience panic attacks while pursuing this. This is because, while Olivia does not think too much on a stranger's opinion of her. she constantly seeks approval from her family. Olivia's upbringing from nobility means she carries on and represents her family name. This has high expectations brought onto herself in terms of knowledge, and the performance of general tasks. While she does understand her position, it's a weight that can be crushing to bear for her, and can cause her to be anxious. Winning her father's approval and meeting his high expectations was always her goal in her life, and whenever she fails, it's soul-crushing for her, and it can take a long while for her to come back.

History: Olivia was the only daughter born in the distinguished household of de Roosevelt, a household of vampire nobility in Transylvania, Romania in the human world, from seclusion of humans themselves. For hundreds of decades, the de Roosevelts were a few houses that were only second to the royal kingdom itself. Her father, Lazarus de Roosevalt, was an especially strong vampire who was head of this powerful family.

Even as a child, Olivia was set high standards for herself from the arts, knowledge, and general inquiries. This was in preparation for one thing, and that is to have her succeed her father as the new head of the de Roosevelt's family on their ever going quests to surpass the other vampire family houses and climb the social ladder for power. The reason why she joined the prestigious Youkai Academy was also for preparation to succeed her father's name. She aims to be as knowledgeable and as combat oriented as she can, to finally be accepted among her vampire family for succession.

Kyosei

Appearance: Fair of skin, fair of hair, fair of face, he's very fair, alright? Kyosei stands at a modest 5'6 with soft features. A small button nose caps a cute but androgynous face with fuschia eyes. His hair goes all the way down to the small of his back, which is why it is usually tied up in a ponytail in the back or...fox tail, such as it is. His bangs stand up slightly in waves the spread out to frame his face. Kyosei's hair runs the entire gamut of an early sunset, with a very dark orange at the roots, lightening slowly up until the last two inches which go from golden blond to white at the tips.

In his fox form Kyosei's body is larger than most Youko and his fur matches the color of his hair in human form, with the darker shades covering his head and his four tails being snow white with red tips.

Personality: Kyosei's psyche is often ruled by one of 3 things: curiosity, the health of any living things around him, especially plants, or nervousness. He doesn't often talk much and is usually content to think about whatever it is currently on his mind, though once someone gets him talking or something really catches his interest he has a hard time changing course. Though not one prone to anger in most situations, Kyosei is no pacifist. He is nearly always horrified at the idea of hurting anyone or anything - even just their feelings - he's not opposed at all to using force to protect anything he considers precious and isn't likely to back down once he puts up his dukes.

Kyosei is a person of constant, steady movement. Though never in a hurry, he's always putting effort into doing something, flitting between tending to plants, reading books, or asking somebody questions and any number of other things. He even puts effort into doing nothing, greatly enjoying his best opportunities to observe his surroundings, never reluctant to spend all day sitting and humming if the mood strikes him. The only time he's ever harsh with another person is when he believes they are going to waste life of some kind.

Even if he's prone to asking people all about themselves and nearly always being outwardly friendly, Kyosei really isn't very social. Ever since the accident he's been very slow to build up any sort of bond and those he had before the accident weren't quite the same anymore either, as a result he makes few friends. The young fox has much more knowledge of humans than Youkai thanks to all the time he spent pulling pranks on and watching the former in his youth, but he does have very extensive knowledge of plants from the Youkai world as well as a keen interest in botany as a whole.

History: There are few more energetic and troublesome kits ever born to any pair of Youko than Takashi and Akane. There are also few people more excited to become parents than the two of them. They put everything into raising their son and caring for him, yet even with more effort and forethought than most parents ever even consider, they just couldn't keep up. So many times he got away from them, he was only eight years old when he began slipping off to the human world for his fun!

Takashi and Akane's son was as clever as he was hyper and for a long time his escapes seemed harmless, every time he returned he had yet more stories and souvenirs for his parents, he was even making friends along the way. Sadly, in a world where the divide between Youkai is so stark a kit can only tempt fate for so long. During one of countless trips to the human world the boy was seen showing his true form to a young girl in the Eien no Mori, the Timeless Forest. The boy didn't have far to go thanks to the Eien no Mori being one of the original pillars connecting the Human and Youkai worlds, but the men who found him were armed and prepared.

The young Youko made it back to his home and his parents, frightened but apparently unhurt. Takashi and Akane were told the boy had been shot, yet they couldn't find any wounds and chalked it up to the fear of one put in the position of a hunted animal. After that incident the boy wasn't quite the same, gone was the boundless energy and excitement. Eventually the boy said his birth name no longer felt right. He would accept no argument from his parents and gave himself a new name that had been twisted from his old name, from then on he was 'Kyosei'

Years later the invitation to the esteemed Youkai Academy arrived. Takashi and Akane were surprised, they were a fairly isolated family, but somehow the headmaster had learned about Kyosei. Regardless, if there was anywhere for the boy to understand what had happened to him and really grow into his own, where better?

Weakness: Kyosei can't seem to grow his power as easily or as steadily as most Youko, he doesn't grow more tails simply from aging or practice with his powers. His memories from before his accident are also hazy, he's no amnesiac, but it all seems so far away...

In her human form, Laguna is 5' tall with an athlete's lean build. Her pale blue hair resembles the scales of her true form, though she wears it in a long ponytail when out of the water. Oddly, her teeth are sharp and predatory in all forms. For clothes, she prefers to keep it light, generally wearing a tank top over a fishnet shirt with long sleeves. She despises pants, instead opting for a skirt, and goes barefoot when she can, wearing flipflops when she can't.

Personality: Laguna is one of the most friendly, energetic, and silly girls you could meet. She likes to experience new things: meet new people, eat new foods, hear new stories. When she arrives in a new place, she likes to hear local rumors and spread gossip, and in general loves a good conversation. She likes to have fun and loves cute things, although she's none too bright. She tends to lose focus and needs to be reminded to stay on task or else she'll be completely lost. She's surprisingly strong for her size, and has literally dragged people from one attraction to another while caught up in the excitement.

The world is in need of new ideas and bold action, and Laguna has deep respect and a little envy for creative types. In her opinion, she can't sing, has trouble following basic recipes, and her water magic is basic and only good for party tricks. She doesn't like to focus on the negative, and instead chooses to point out how good others are. Despite her habit of diverting the attention away from herself, she has trouble keeping her thoughts and feelings hidden. While rambling, she tends to say more than she should, and often doesn't realize when she lets something slip.

Having spent most of her life underwater, Laguna enjoys anything aquatic, from hot tubs to swimming pools, and is oddly fascinated by seemingly mundane things such as books and stairs. She knows she's weird, but doesn't let that bother her. What does bother her is when people put themselves down or give up. She doesn't mind when her own shortcomings are mentioned, as she's happy to hear constructive criticism or even a good joke at her expense, and she'll be quick to try and cheer up anyone having a hard time. She also doesn't like people messing with her hair, but that just leads to momentary grumpiness rather than anger or anything severe.

History: Born in the Youkai realm, Laguna was the youngest of three triplets, whom she was never away from. As she grew, she became stronger than her sisters, but still followed them and played lackey to their schemes. She was sent to the Academy alone partly to get her out of their shadows, but also with a mission to scout of the human realm in search of a suitable new home for her expanding kingdom (a mission she has difficulty remembering to do).

Weakness: Laguna lacks ambition and initiative, and could easily become dependent on others to make decisions for her. She needs to learn to think for herself and become her own person.

Allergies? Anything other? Please write down below: Laguna has developed a fondness for human food, despite its lack of nutritional value to a mermaid. She will almost always be eating as a result, usually fast foods or snacks. She especially likes tacos.

Name: Marnix Trevorix
Age: 54
Gender: Male
Specie: Kraken

Appearance: In human form, Marnix looks like any other human elderly man around his age. With silver hair hidden under an old fashioned grampa cap and a beard and mustache that is always taken good care of. Something that may strike as odd is that he is missing his index finger on his left hand.

In Youkai form, however, he suddenly looks much more ripped than his usual self with his arms turning into 4 tentacles on his right side and 3 on his left side, having a total of 7 tentacles. He lost a tentacle during a situation he doesn't speak off. Marnix doesn't change his skin colour in Youkai form but his eyes do change to completely orange with black horizontal stripes for irises.

Personality: Marnix looks like a stern old man upon meeting but is in reality much more easy-going than people would often think. He's strict with his rules but isn't unreasonable and can be rather likeable if you get on his good side. He has a soft spot for young children as it reminds him of his own grand children living with his son in the Youkai realm. He has a daughter living in the human world but hasn't seen her in years and radiates a sad energy whenever speaking of her.

Marnix gets along well enough with his colleagues but can be rather annoyed with Divine's easy going personality with the rest of the students. He thinks that a teacher and a student should keep their respectable distances and feels like respect is everything, although must be earned.

History: Marnix came from a family of 3 older brothers and 2 younger ones, all born within the Youkai realm. He was gifted in almost everything related to numbers and calculations and succeeded in graduating from college as well as his PhD degree in Malaysia in the human world at an age of 26. He met his human wife during an accident on his field trip to Japan. She was attacked by a Yakuza gang in Tokyo and Marnix was forced to switch to his Youkai form to safe the helpless young woman, no matter what she would think of him. The woman was quite thankful, taking him by surprise and invited him over for dinner.

He married that same woman 3 years later and was blessed with fatherhood as he received a young healthy boy and a small healthy girl. He became a professor at Youkai Academy at age 35 and moved with his wife and children to the border of the human world and the Youkai realm to start his new job.

He has good contact with his son but hasn't been in contact with his daughter after she got married and moved back to the human world. He still lives in a house near Youkai Academy with his beloved wife.

Weakness: He's quite secretive about his weaknesses but one of them is definitely his cute wife.

Selena Nekonishi

Name: Selena Nekonishi
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Specie: Neko

Appearance: A woman with no care in the world. That would be the best way to describe Selena and the way she dresses. Selena's dark brown, bob haircut is often a mess and it occasionally looks like she didn't brush it in the morning at all. She has a habit of wearing oversized shirts or sweaters and a pair of jeans. You probably won't get to see her in a skirt or dress at all as she's rather tomboyish in everything she does. She's seen wearing headphones most of the time too.

In Youkai form, Selena receives a pair of black cat ears instead of her human ears. The piercings she has in her right ear are transferred to her right cat ear as well. She also has a fluffy black tail, showing that she is from a clan with similar tails within the Youkai realm. She has heterochromia as one of her eyes is light brown and the other one is green. This is only in her Youkai form.

Personality: Selena is a lazy but serious woman. She isn't exactly young anymore and absolutely hates it when that's mentioned. Being over 30 and still single is a topic she also likes to avoid. She like listening music and often sits nearby Divine to listen to her singing voice while reading a roman. Reading romans is pretty much the only thing she does in her past time whenever she's not teaching. As a teacher she's rather lazy as well but quite knowledgeable in her given subject. She has a habit of going drunk during the weekends.

History: Selena was born within Youkai realm in a clan called "Blood Moon Claws". There is no real significance to their name beside that they have gotten quite famous and got together shortly after the Blood Moon war. Even though she was born within the Youkai realm, Selena grew up in the human world in the UK because her parents traveled around often in that area. She kept many human friends because of this and even today still has buddies she hangs around with when possible. They all know about the inhuman abilities of their friend and often joke about it, to the annoyance of Selena.

Selena used to have a boyfriend but this relationship ended after 7 years when Selena turned 29. A woman is considered "un-marriageable" in the Blood Moon clan after having reached the age of 30 so this has always bothered Selena greatly and she still resents her ex for keeping her for those 7 years only to decide to break it off when she was almost turning 30. She doesn't tell anyone any details, however, her closest friends Cindy and James know of what happened.

Selena started teaching at the Academy right after the breakup which is 3 years ago now.

Weakness: Her ex. Other weaknesses aren't known.

He's boisterous and loud on most days, and about as subtle as a bag of bricks.That's not to say stupid; although most traditional learning subjects bore him he does fine enough on intellectual tasks when motivated enough (although also not breaking ahead of the pack with cleverness). He enjoys any time he can show off his strength, in class or otherwise. Most of his life has been spent charging ahead without looking, and usually with the luck to back it up. He very much enjoys wild stories, strong food, and drink (when he can sneak it).

Kenta isn't a paragon of virtue, but very much hates deception and despises "underhanded tactics". The fastest way to get him angry is to lead him to believe he or someone else has been cheated. What shook him even more was how humanity didn't even consider him real anymore. He had spent his entire life convinced these people lived in fear of him, and they didn't even know he existed. He stayed for several weeks to make sure he wasn't delusional, and then left, defeated. Back at home he was considered soft for his "fear" of humans. Eventually giving up, he looked to join the Academy to try and ensure he lived the storm he saw coming.

Traditions die hard, but sometimes the sanctity of those traditions isn't so easy to instill in the generations to come. So it was for 13 year old Karma upon realizing that she was able to summon youkai.

And she didn't want to.

No, Karma was a girl just trying to fit in and having a hard enough time with that. When her third eye first appeared it raised so much uproar that she was almost forced to change schools. "Almost" because she managed to take care of it by wearing a hat to school. A baseball cap, to be specific. This, ironically, made her stand out even more and she started to gain a sense of self loathing as a result. At the time, anyways. As she grew older she would begin to understand the nature of her heritage and hate that instead. Needless to say, living as a human while not actually being a human was surprisingly tough.

While she didn't get along with her family as a result of their insistence that she be proud of her heritage, there was one member of her family that she did get along with quite well, her grandfather. He was a sweet man who saw Karma as his pride and joy regardless of how she felt about her family. He never forced anything on her and it made him easy to talk to in a way that she didn't really have with anyone else. It was he who gave her the 10 yen coin that she would later use to summon youkai, telling her that no one is forced to be what they don't want to be. At the time this felt a bit ironic that he was giving her a literal tool of her kin that she likely wasn't going to use.

Karma would eventually reach high school and upon doing so realize that the world was very, very different. Kids wouldn't think she was odd for her long bangs or the weird hats she would wear, and in fact she found herself bothered and stared at far less by pretty much everyone. High school was a time of self invention and self discovery, everyone was figuring out who they were. It felt like a break for once, one that she would welcome with open arms until a particular day. Even though she was being judged less and less, Karma made it a point to hide her third eye. She wasn't human, after all, and that was something no amount of self-discovery could justify. But she still had feelings, and this was where her talent for standing out would come to be a boon rather than a bane.

After school one day Karma was approached by a classmate that she hadn't really talked to much. This classmate talked about how she was always interested in Karma as her name was as unusual as was pretty much everything about her. She also thought Karma was cute and made that very clear. Karma was taken aback by this, as the last thing that she had on her mind was the status of her sexuality, and even more she was worried that if someone did peek into her life they wouldn't like what they found inside. But she also found herself unable to push this girl away. Whether it was because she had feelings for the girl at the time or because she just wanted a friend was hard to say, but the two soon became very close. Other than her grandfather there wasn't really anybody else that made Karma feel as comfortable as she did.

Time passed and Karma's friend, named Yisa (Like Lisa but with a Y, completely self-styled), decided to finally make a move. As the two were watching TV in Karma's room, Yisa decided to take advantage of Karma's almost trance-like immersion in the show to give her something else to think about. She crawled over her and put herself in front of Karma, who was so in shock by the whole thing that the most she could manage were weird facial expressions, which Yisa obviously found adorable. She slowly moved her face closer to Karma's and as she did, her forehead rubbed against and pushed up the fringe of Karma's hat (which, at the time, was a sun hat, since it was bordering on Summer at the time). As she did, it was then that she caught note of something bizarre, that thing of course being an eye being right where it wasn't supposed to be. When she noticed it she paused, and this gave Karma enough time to collect herself, jump onto the bed behind her, and pull down her hat in fear. Karma knew that something like that would happen, she started to doubt why she ever decided to let Yisa into her life to begin with. That doubt failed to solidify as Yisa smacked the hat out off of her head and gently placed her lips on Karma's.

And for a while, she was happy, but it wasn't long before she realized that letting her guard down was never a good idea.

Karma's family always enjoyed having Yisa over as despite Karma's distaste for her family, her family loved her to death, so seeing her having a friend over for once was something they were more than accommodating for. When Karma was invited over to Yisa's place, she was cautiously optimistic. Her parents weren't nearly as high energy as Karma's were, though she just chalked that up to them being different people. But because of how sheltered she was, she didn't realize the small things. Small things such as how Yisa would be quiet when passing by their living room or why she might have told Karma to not leave her room until she was ready to leave. Or why Yisa didn't come to school the next day.

When she did finally come back, Yisa was substantially less cheerful than she had been before, and she practically clung to Karma. The yasha tried over and over to get her girlfriend to talk about what was going on but she would just try to change the subject. But it clearly wasn't a secret that she wanted to keep and by the end of the day she would spill the particularly sour beans. The two went into a stall in bathroom, Yisa took off her shirt, and revealed several bruises. Her house wasn't a safe place, and after Karma left that day she got into a fight with her already abusive father about Karma and who and what she was. He told her to stay away, calling Karma a monster after having seen her third eye for himself, but Yisa couldn't do that. Her happiness was with Karma, she was how she made it through every single day.

Karma, too, had her own decisions to make, though. She was overtaken by an unbalanced mix of happiness, sadness, and rage that threw her rationale out the window. She was happy that even despite the circumstances, Yisa stood by her regardless of her own safety, but at the same time she didn't want Yisa to get hurt anymore, she didn't want to be treated like some inhuman creature undeserving of respect. She went to her family's storage area. To her it'd just been a garage, she didn't really know much about what it was or what was in there other than some spare swords. Something that she had a natural aptitude for using. And other people weren't going to be hurt for something she couldn't control. So she took one of the spare blades, put out a tarp

And made a terrible mistake.

The door to the storage area was locked from the inside so it didn't seem as if someone else came in. And as she brushed her hair away from her face, she realized that there wasn't even a wound or a hole or anything like that. Her forehead was normal. That wasn't all that was different.

The next day as she arrived at school Karma was immediately called into the principal's office. Upon arriving she was greeted by a news story playing on the TV next to him involving a couple being brutally injured, albeit not mortally so. This didn't faze her at first, until she realized that the family in question was Yisa's. The principal went on to say that she couldn't be charged because, frankly, no one believes a human could hurt them the way they were injured and he, of all people, knew that she was a bit awkward but for the most part a good student. However Yisa's family- her father in particular, kept pushing and pushing that she was the one who did it to them and because of her relation to Yisa it did seem at least slightly plausible, putting the principal in an uncomfortable position. He offered, for her safety, that she take the next few days off, something she obliged as the whole situation made her feel odd. Everything recently was making her feel confused.

Seeing her girlfriend smile again made it all worth it, though.

When she arrived home her family was waiting for her, and it was the most upset she'd ever seen them. Well, "dismayed" is a better word. They sat her down and told her that she was transferring to a live-in school. At this she protested, but for the first time in her life they shot back. They explained to her that the Arameia family comes from a long line of information brokers, investigators, and historians for all things youkai. While the storage shed was partially for yasha training equipment, it was also just as much used for storing items they were to look into, keep safe, or keep others safe from. The mask that she had clasped to her pants (something even she hadn't noticed) was supposedly possessed by someone or some people. They didn't ask her to put it back however and, instead, said that they would like her to take it back to its point of origin, Youkai Academy, where she'd be attending. Many questions floating around in her head, she still protested saying she wouldn't leave Yisa behind.

Of the two of them, she was the only one that shared this sentiment. Yisa was there, and though she wasn't happy about it she wanted her to go just as much as Karma's parents. Yisa explained that she loved her a lot and what happened to her parents she was actually thankful for, rather than mad about. But Karma's eye being gone, what she did to herself, there was too much hatred for herself and who she was. But she didn't want that for Karma because Yisa legitimately loved Karma's family, she felt at home there in a way that she didn't in her own home, and it felt like Karma's family felt the same way about Karma but she didn't return that feeling and it cut her deep to see over and over again. Yisa wasn't going anywhere, her feelings weren't going anywhere. She just wanted Karma to be happy, and for now that meant letting her go.

Weakness: Loneliness. Yasha aren't necessarily predisposed to feelings of loneliness but because of average lifespan of one it can be pretty difficult to live a full love life. The idea of "'til death do us part" is all too real for them, and isolation is doubly an issue for those who have more difficulty blending into human society the way Karma has. While some in her situation would turn to family for support, her loathing for her family makes even this difficult.

Her natural hair color is actually purple and that's what she was born with. Though the human side of her family generally has black hair as a result of hailing from the east, there were certain recessive genes at play that made her hair look an unnatural color when, really, it's a result of her bloodline. The yellow and white streaks were her trying, and failing, to test out other colors, and as her roots began to grow black as she got older, she ended up becoming the peacock she is today. Needless to say, her talent for standing out is only really aided by being a yasha but it certainly isn't the result of it.

She still wears hats out of habit, even if they generally mess up her hair and not as much as she did when she had three eyes. Her favorite type of hat is the sun cap, right next to hoodies.

She keeps the mask she found clasped to her pants though she's not really sure why she carries it around with her or even kept it at all.

Jeans and Khakis are her drug and if you diss denim she's gonna khaki your ass.

Personality: Hael's personality is... difficult. Not in the sense of being hard to describe, but in the sense of being hard to deal with. His default setting seems to be apathy as to the world around him and the lives and struggles of others. He takes this a step further as well, being reckless with his own safety and uninterested in his own well-being.

Hael is the sort of person who can shrug off even the most heart-wrenching of sob stories. He is very self-centred and has little attachment to anyone or anything. His interest lays only with his own pleasure, resulting in hedonistic and at times borderline sociopathic tendencies. He'll smuggle illegal booze into school and get wasted instead of studying like he should and setup very mean-spirited pranks that provide him with a sense of perverse satisfaction. He is not above picking a fight with someone much larger than himself (so anyone really) if he thinks it will be amusing for a while.

Simply put, Hael is a bit of an asshole. He wasn't born like that though, and rather events in his past changed his philosophy into something bleak enough to greatly warp his personality. In reality, whilst he has buried most of his feelings under mountains of apathy, Hael was originally a very caring person. Most of his negative traits stem from self-loathing and a distaste for the world around him rather than a strong desire to hurt others.

With a great deal of effort, it is possible to unearth the caring, humorous and intelligent fairy at Hael's core. However, doing so would likely result in a long and traumatic process.

Like most other Oni, he maintains a broad nose and strong jaw in human form as well as a naturally grumpy resting face. When around good company his face is much livelier and jovial, although his stone-colored eyes still never quite match the mood.

Personality: Kenta very much prefers what he calls the "red feelings". He seeks out interesting people to call friends and revels in celebration. He's boisterous and loud on most days, and about as subtle as a bag of bricks.That's not to say stupid; although most traditional learning subjects bore him he does fine enough on intellectual tasks when motivated enough (although also not breaking ahead of the pack with cleverness). He enjoys any time he can show off his strength, in class or otherwise. Most of his life has been spent charging ahead without looking, and usually with the luck to back it up. He very much enjoys wild stories, strong food, and drink (when he can sneak it).

Kenta isn't a paragon of virtue, but very much hates deception and despises "underhanded tactics". The fastest way to get him angry is to lead him to believe he or someone else has been cheated. In these instances he will use his intimidating size to his advantage. Despite this, his protective towards his friends can mean blindly trusting what they say. He can be slow to realize when someone he respects is in the wrong, however he is slow to forgive once the truth comes to light.

Weakness: Aside from being naive when it comes to his friends, Kenta has been uncharacteristically struggling with indecision and pessimism in secret. He is torn between continuing his life with his family, or trying to integrate into the human world. After his trip to the human world, he has no idea what he wants to do anymore, aside from protect himself.

History: Kenta was born in the yokai realm among his own kin. Like much of his kind, he never forgot the humiliation Oni endured as a result of the human's underhanded tricks. As he eagerly awaited the day war would break out once again and the yokai could regain their dominance, Kenta trained. To try and understand his enemy and maybe try to start a fight, Kenta secretly left his village to infiltrate the human world. He traveled for what felt like years to escape the Oni Realm and find his way across.

When he got there, what he saw scared him. Humanity had advanced far beyond what his backwards village knew, and there were so many of them. What shook him even more was how humanity didn't even consider him real anymore. He had spent his entire life convinced these people lived in fear of him, and they didn't even know he existed. He stayed for several weeks to make sure he wasn't delusional, and then left, defeated. Back at home he was considered soft for his "fear" of humans. Eventually giving up, he looked to join the Academy to try and ensure he lived the storm he saw coming.

Ugh, alrightalrightalright. I like me so I'll just talk about me! Again! For the first time? I dunno, memory's a weird thing y'know sometimes you remember the time you accidentally made mouth contact with the gum stuck to the water fountain but you don't know who your parents are. Happens to everyone, I guess.

Where should I start...well, first, my name's Tenma- wait I wrote that at the top. Doi. Well anyway, my name essentially means heavenly waters in Japanese which I know since I'm suuuuuuuuuuper super into anime! My favorite show is Serial Experiments Lain but I tell all my friends it's Tokyo Ghoul so I can actually make friends. Which I definitely have. Or will have. Second year's the world of opportunities!

Wait, that's not the type of information that's supposed to go here, tangeeeents. Anyway, if it wasn't clear before I'm a second year at Youkai Academy, a transfer student, even. I'm a mage but I'm terrible at magic. I understand how it works and all but I can't actually get it to work. I honestly think I'm pretty dumb at this point but I get straight As on my exams, and whatever I read basically gets burned into my brain. I can cast magic but only with the help of some gloves, black finger-less ones. I've had them for as long as I can remember but they still feel like cheating to use. I still wear them 'cause they look neat, though. And teeeeechnically they're not cheating because they don't seem to have a lot of magic power. If I'm gonna be honest, I don't think they have any magic, or almost none, anyways. So I don't really know what it does. Oh well.

As for my appearance? I'm still working on that haha. Thing is I don't look very girly. I don't have much of a chest for an 18 year old and there's a snake in the basement if you know what I mean. Was that too on the nose? That sounds pretty on the nose. But I mean c'mon, we're all adults here, right? But the point is I actually am pretty masculine and if someone were to see me they'd probably think I was a guy. And I couldn't really argue with them...but I am a girl, alright!? All this is pretty embarrassing to talk about and I don't really like to. I don't think I'm pretty and I don't really look into the mirror too much as a result. Why would I, I'm skinny, tall, boyish, and so far my hair's only shoulder-length. Brown, if you're asking, I'm a brunette true and true, but most days I feel like a blonde. Got spooky red eyes, too, since we're on the subject.

Other than that I have a hoodie that I wear for...self-esteem reasons, which feels weird seeing on paper. It's kinda ripped or, well, burned and I got it from a friend. Or guardian angel? Not really sure, never actually seen them but I call them Terry. It's not an imaginary friend don't worry I'm not crazy- yet. But back to the hoodie, it's cute and black but one of the arms has this really crooked design, like it was burned off. Guess that's the trouble with hand-me-downs, huh? Anyway, other than that I usually wear shorts or the occasional pink skinny jeans.

You ever heard of vision dreams? Like, you go to sleep and you can see really small snippets of the future but you don't think you actually saw them until you look it up online and then you find out that it's actually something that happens to a lot of people so you start to just realize that your dreams aren't just dreams but at the same time it's perfectly normal so you don't really put anymore thought into it? Yeah, I have those pretty often. Only weird thing is that when I have these dreams I have the feeling of déjà vu during the dream and feel it a lot when I wake up. Just semantics probably but it's weird, y'know? Plus that I know of, none of them have come true. Well except for this one time that I dreamed I would walk into the cafeteria door and soda all over myself but that's happened like 12 times. What happens once really does happen twice and thrice and honestly I kinda feel like I need to just get an in-room dry cleaner at this point.
I'm a little spacey when I start thinking about things. I guess I recognize it so it's not really much of a weakness but it's worth knowing so if I'm daydreaming in class you have to blame genetics and NOT penalize me. Legally, according to some youkai laws somewhere.

Rei is a member of the Nekohara, a line of neko who once sought to cultivate their meager magical ability. Earth and wind magic especially, as their few allied clans turned to various other types. Over generations, it became as fearsome as their claws, if not more, and their magic could stand shoulder to shoulder with that of the strongest mages.

Except, Rei's not nearly that good at it. Where her father could conjure storms on the horizon, Rei's range is limited to roughly her personal space; and she'd never hope to match how her father could seemingly make material out of thin air. Her grandparents often blamed Rei's outsider mother for her being an abject disappointment. Sometimes she wished she had a sibling worth something to take all the pressure.

On the bright side, her parents were loving. Really, maybe a little too loving. Her father's such a doting idiot that at sixteen years old Rei still calls him Papa. And though she knew well of her relatives' thoughts about her, Mama protected her from the brunt of it with a smile. She loved pissing off her in-laws.

Partly as a result of her parents' efforts to keep the Nekohara side of the family away from her, much of Rei's life was spent in the human world. She learned language and how to use her abilities from her parents, as well as some basic life skills... and got hooked on human media in her downtime. Her inborn perception, reflexes and deft hands were perfect for a number of video games. Quiet as she was, however, Rei didn't make many friends.

Until middle school. She had never met a youkai that wasn't family before then, but she caught the attention of a boisterous classmate who shared her love of games. This new friend was absolutely human, but her friend was decidedly less so. From Rei's description, her parents guessed she was most likely a fairy or succubus in human guise.

The succubus—as the girl named Lena was soon determined to be—was eerily adept at figuring Rei out despite her usual silence. She always seemed to understand what Rei wanted to convey to her, even when she said nothing. In a particularly embarrassing incident, she also came to be the only one who knew Rei wasn't human herself, and as the neko confided in her further in ways she couldn't with anyone else, Lena became her closest companion.

As for the human friend who brought Rei into the group, called Miko by the others, she often worked at her parents' café, and spent all her money on games and related merchandise. It could be said that what happened next was entirely Miko's fault. Or, maybe it was just a natural progression. Either way, they blamed Miko.

Among Miko's growing collection of merch, she had everything from character goods to miscellaneous plushies to cosplay—although, in terms of plushies, Rei's stuffed animal collection had her beat. And, complaining how Rei was cuter than her, Miko and her equally hopeless make-up artist older sister liked using the neko as a dress-up doll.

Not that Rei disliked it. If anything, she took a shine to it. At least, making clothes was well within her capabilities, having learned how from her mother. And her magic showed some worth beyond fighting in making accessories and the occasional prop. Mama joked about how Rei's Nekohara grandparents would have a heart attack if they knew what their cherished magic was being used for.

Still, after three years together, everyone was set to leave for different high schools; and separate the humans in their circle, Lena planned to enter a school for youkai. With her parents' encouragement, Rei decided to do the same.
