Earth and Sky: Pokemon Battle Royale!

Overview:
We all know there are the dozens of pokemon leagues with badges and contests to test their skill. However, after you reach the platue, defeat the elite 4 and get into the hall of fame, is that it? Does your career of training end? Out there in the world within this RP is another pokemon league, a much darker one that really isn't for the faint of heart.

Earth and Sky League
A completly underground pokemon tournament with only one rule, win. The battles can become truly brutal and only those with the will and strength are able to pull through. To those who are able to make it to the finals, may good fortune accompany you.

Tournament Rules:
  • Badge's:
Believe it or not, there is only 1 badge in this league. Just obtaining it is a daunting task. This leagues badge is actually split into pieces which fit together like a puzzle. In order to obtain badge pieces, you need to compete for them in a trainer battle for someone who actually has them. Both you and your opponent gamble the X amount of pieces and duke it out in however both trainers please. Trainers can battle, pit each other in contest, whatever the heart desires. The winner walks away with the losers pieces and life goes on. If a trainer loses all of his or her badge pieces, they are completely out of the league... Unless they steal a piece or two from another participating trainer. A fully assembled badge will give the location of the finals.
  • Joining the League:
There are league recruiters scattered EVERYWHERE throughout the world in every region! Problem? They are in hiding. In order to participate in the leagues activities, you have to battle one of the recruiters and earn your your first badge piece. When you receive the piece, the recruiters take a photo of the trainer and any I.D. information they can get from the participant at all. This way, they don't accidentally give any more pieces to trainers who have been knocked out of the tournament. The league is a yearly tournament that starts in spring and ends on the last day of fall before the winter kicks in. If you fail to reach the finals before then, you miss your chance to compete and have to start all over. The location of the finals change every year, making the badge useless if you can't obtain the pieces in time.
  • Prize:
1 wish. Anything the winning trainer deeply desires from the bottom of his or her heart.
Some trainers join the tournament to help their family or business while others are in this for the pure competition.
  • Cheating?:
Though it is possible to steal all of your pieces for your badge, you won't survive the final rounds of the league. The elite in this league are more powerful than you can imagine! They are creative in combat strategies and are able to plan 10 moves ahead of you, making them a force to be reckoned with. Merely surviving one of these four trainers is more of a blessing if that describes their fighting power, these trainers aren't even allowed to even enter tournaments or contests!!! The purpose of fighting for the badge pieces in this brutal tournament is to prepare for them. Stealing all your pieces and not growing from it? Your automatic Pika-chow, case closed.
  • Survive!:
Badge piece trainers are found out in the wilderness mostly; far away from the cities in uncharated territories and darker places without the help of pokemon centers or shops. To be frank, the first half of the contest is to survive out there with the wild Pokemon and learn to adapt while competing for the components to your badge. If your participating, you need to be more prepared than batman just to come back with pokemon and yourself alive.
  • Running away!:
If your team is in critical health, as well as yourself and you both need medical attention, RUN! You will not be dubbed as a coward from running away. You and your teams survival takes top priority when competing and as long as you have even one component or piece to the league badge, you are still free to return and collect what you need to move forward.

Be aware that there is no shame in running from a battle as long as your doing so to stay alive.
If you can't handle the league, you can sell your badge piece for a hefty profit to another competitor.
  • Welcome to Lethia!:
Though these battles CAN take part in any region you desire, a new region on a massive island known as the Lethia region is where the most concentrated badge battles are at! The island is large and has 3 divided environments, forest, desert and mountain. There is only one town with a Pokemon center and mart located at the edge of the forest near the docks, so pick where you have your battles carefully and stock up on ultra balls, great balls, super potions or better, because the shop here sells the basic medicines while the advance meds are with the vendors for the league in the region. So be ready if you want to head out there.
I would at least recommend everyone make their journey there.
  • Why?:
    1. -Are the battles held out there?: Its a brutal tournament that pokemon theives, among others, join in. In order to accomadate them, these battles are held far from the help of government officals and the proper authorities.
    2. -What if my pokemon get STOLEN?!: They are plainly get stolen until you get them back or if you can get assistance in tracking them down and getting them back. The rule is up in the air for this one.
    3. -Badge pieces, how many and where are the finals?: You need a total of 15 pieces to complete one badge, it is BEST to assemble MULTIPLE badges in order to re-enter the finals incase you lose a match or fall out.
    4. -Teams?: When fighting for badge pieces to compete in the finals, do what you want. Form alliances, teams, break them, divide them, whatever. The more the merrier and a better chance for survival. Just remember that your team can no longer exist when you reach the finals, since it will be treated as a tournament based contest from there on in.
    5. Can my pokemon team be evolved? how many can we have?:
You can have a total of 6 pokemon at a time and if you want evolved pokemon, I'll allow up 3-4 stage 2 evolution's and below on your team. (Examples of Stage 2 are Charmeleon, Quilava, Ivysaur, Wartortle)
    6. Swapping Pokemon (NEW):
Aside form the 6 you have on hand, Ill allow you to have captured 1 more to have set aside in your PC. You need to capture the rest throughout the course of the RP.
    7. Transfer Tag:
An item that will only exist in this RP. The transfer tag allows you to swap out Pokemon in your PC for any other you have on your team from anywhere in the world. Need your....say.... Pikachu for a water pokemon battle and all you got are your rock types, more over, your in the forest. Write on the tag the pokemon you want to take out, attach it to the pokeball containing the pokemon you want to trade out, -ZIP, FLASH!!!- The tele-port system used to send poke balls swaps the pokemon out. The tags ARE NOT CHEAP! they are extremely expensive and are only sold within the Earth and Sky league vendors. Also be aware these tags are one time only items, so buy multiples if you can and use them ONLY when you need to swap in between battles.
    8. Earth and Sky Vendors:
For trainers who do not go prepared, there are vendors setup in the wilderness where the Badge Piece battles take place. The vendors are well guarded and armed to the teeth, so stealing from them is not an option. You can purchase pokeballs, potions, healing items, breeding items, and of course, swap pokemon, or buy transfer tags. Prices in the vendors market are sky high. (Example: 1 Pokeball cost: $200 in the mart. The vendors here sell them $800 a pop)
...Yea, want it cheaper? Buy your equipment at the mart. The only thing you can 't buy at these marts are the Transfer Tags.
    9. Legendaries:
You can have 1 on your team and no more BUT 1. If anyone has had their profile posted with a team containing more than 1 legendary, DO NOT CHANGE IT! There is no need to after I approved it. I did not take into account about that, so fairs fair.

As The RP grows, I have taken notice that a lot of people are thinking that you sign-up in the topic itself.

Earth and Sky has their own OCC in the Roleplay Lounge.
If you've taken interest in the RP, a revised Rule and Setup list is found there.

Roleplay Lounge
Earth and Sky OCC

May the best trainer win.

This RP's story grows from the players that take part in the tournament.

Name: Jack Davis

Age: 17

Sex: Male

Apperance: Jack stands at 5'3". He has brown hair and eyes and wears a white shirt with blue jeans. Whenever he travels he carries a backpack to hold all of his supplies.

Pokemon Team:

Alpha (Hypno/Male)
Moveset:
Hypnosis
Dream Eater
Calm Mind
Confusion

Being Jack's first pokemon Alpha considers himself the cream of the crop. He tends to act as a leader among his fellow pokemon and becomes annoyed with any who dare to challenge his position.

Bravo (Banette/Female)
Moveset:
Curse
Shadow Sneak
Shadow Ball
Spite

Bravo likes tricks. Despite Jack's best efforts all he could do was curb Beta's behavior so that he or his other pokemon are not the targets of Bravo's pranks.

Charlie (Kadabra/Male)
Moveset:
Confusion
Disable
Psybeam
Reflect

Charlie is as uptight as a pokemon can get. Beliving that psychic pokemon are of a superior type he will refuse to speak to any non-psychic pokemon. It took a while but Jack was eventually able to get Charlie to start socializing with the rest of his pokemon, but that's was as far as Charlie would go. Outside of Jack's pokemon non-psychic types won't get so much as a glance from Charlie.

Delta (Gastly/Male)
Moveset:
Lick
Hypnosis
Confuse Ray
Night Shade

Delta shares many characteristics of Bravo. Both enjoy pulling pranks on others and while Delta has more control over his tendencies there will be times that Bravo can rope Delta into helping her with one of her projects.

Echo (Sneasel/Female)
Moveset:
Agility
Icy Wind
Screech
Faint Attack

Echo is the shy one of the group. She will show her wild side in battle, but outside of the battlefield she will clam up around strangers and will stay near Charlie as his attitude will usually drive away other pokemon.

Foxtrot (Sableye/Male)
Moveset:
Night Shade
Faint Attack
Shadow Claw
Detect

Being part ghost Foxtrot too feels a need to pull pranks but thanks to Jack's strict discipline the sableye no longer feels those cravings and instead focuses his time on training. He is considered Jack's secret weapon due to him having no weaknesses against another type.

Bio: Jack enjoys order. Plain and simple order. No back talking, no questions, just pure submission. He has worked with every pokemon he's caught to not only make sure that they obey his orders, but also that they respect him as well. To Jack the perfect pokemon are those that obey their trainers and give their all to impress them. This outlook stems from his military father who always expected obedience from Jack. Jack has also named his pokemon after military code words in the order that he caught them.

Jack, while stern with his pokemon, is very social with other trainers and can make friends easily. How another treats their pokemon does not concern him as he only cares about ensuring discipline among his troops.

Jack has an avid facsination with supernatural pokemon, those that hide in the darkness, are undead, or even have psychic powers. Jack has scoured the world for a team comprised of these types to ensure that all of his team's weak points are covered.

All of Archur's pokemon are extremely disciplined on the battle ground, but just as playful (or lack thereof) as any other pokemon of the same species when just hanging around.

Name: Shadoan Tribil

Age: 19

Sex: Male
Appearance: 5'8, Brown bed hair and green eyes. Black under shirt overlaid with a red long-sleeved coat with a white poke ball decal painted on the back, 3 leather straps connect the left sleeve to the rest of the jacket. He wears tattered blue jeans with a fanny pack hanging from his back where he keeps his supplies in and a pair of worn out sneakers. He also carries around a backpack containing various items such as a sleeping bag, laptop and other tools.

Pokémon Team:

Avaith (Quilava: Male)
Moveset:
Howl
Flamethrower
Flame Wheel
Smoke Screen

Avaith was Shadoan's very first Pokémon he had ever begun with. Growing up together, eating together and sleeping together with one another like brothers. These 2 are very close and have an inseparable bond. Over time through battle, Avaith evolved and the 2 still stick it out through thick and thin. Avaith's nature is friendly, but firm and battle ready when needed.

Light (Umbreon: Male)
Faint Attack
Dig
Flash
Moonlight

At first, Light was a severely injured Eevee to where Shadoan and Avaith took into their care and nursed back to good health. He named him Light to represent the spark of hope it had in order to live on. With great friends and effort, he evolved in Umbreon under a moonlit night and became a part of Shadoan's team. Light has a gentle presence around him; disregarding the fact he is a dark Pokémon.

Jev (Heracross: Male)
Endure
Counter
Reversal
MegaHorn

Jev was a knuckle-headed Heracross and became difficult for Shadoan to capture without knocking him out. He and Shadoan do not see eye to eye most of the time, but follows orders when in combat. Jev has a rowdy personality and is a short-tempered bug.

Ulla (Wingull: Female)
Water Pulse
Fly
Ice Beam
Blizzard

Ulla was a simple capture and very recent, so there is not much to say about her. Shadoan pushed forth his best efforts to teach her how to use ice attacks and prepare her for when he needed an area scouted ahead. Ulla is a friendly Pokémon and really isn't suited for battle, however she tries her best to make up for it by assisting the team anyway she can.

Stella (Eevee: Female)
Iron Tail
Bite
Secret Power
Quick Attack

Stella is a female Eevee that found her way to Shadoan's Umbreon, Light. Acting highly affectionate toward Light, Shadoan and his group really couldn't evade her, even if they tried. Giving up, Shadoan accepted capturing her and naming her Stella. She has been trained to use a short variety of moves to prepare her for battle, so she wouldn't seem the weakest in the group. When the team takes a rest, she can always be seen snuggling up and beside Light. Light doesn't really mind, but he cares for her the same way he cares for the rest of the team. Stella is often shy, but eager when in battle.

Bio: Shadoan is a firm, but kind individual. He doesn't show it much through expressions, but he is friendly towards both Pokémon and Trainers alike. He really didn't have much growing up, but he did grow up with a loving family, a strong father and caring mother. His father gave him his first Pokémon when he turned 10 and his mother didn't let him go on his journey until he turned 12. From here, he began learning all he could about the world around him, how it shifts, moves and breathes. He has no dreams of his own, but is working to a goal to at least be the best trainer he could be.

NPC: Cloaked Recruiter
A recruiter for Earth and Sky approaches you, seeking trainers to join the underground league. He takes your photo using a cell phone before running it through a pocket PC attached to his hip. He pulls out a set of orange sun glasses and wears them over his eyes as he points at you, shouting "YOU THERE! I CHALLENGE YOU TO A BATTLE! One Pokémon! DO YOU ACCEPT?!"

[My response]
Shadoan turns to take notice to the shady recruiter, holding up a poke ball and tossing it. –Klash!- A flash of light bursts forth and gives form to Charmeleon. Shadoan smirks as he reaches for Ulla and lets her loose onto the battle field. "I ACCEPT!" The 2 pokemon battle, Charmeleon blazing the field with countless attacks of fire and ashe as Ulla took to the skies to put its flames to frost. Unable to stand up to the cold, Shadoan gives the order to finish it, but misses the chance as the recruiter recalls his pokemon. Clapping his hands, he walks forth to shake Shadoan's hand, slipping a map, brochure and badge case into his pocket, briefly leaving as quickly as he could. As Shadoan recalls Ulla, he checks his pockets to find these items, and what caught his eye was the brochure.

Grand Prize:
1 wish
2nd Prize:
$200,000,000 Cash
Runner Up:

The brochure continues on about survival tips and how to live out in the wild. Referencing the map, Shadoan took notice as to why the brochure noted so many survival tips. All the battle locations were in uncharted territories, in mountains, forests and oceans beyond comprehension. Filled with determination, Shadoan packs the items back into his pockets and checks the amount of money in his wallet. He then walks off to the mart in order to buy supplies for his participation in the tournament that lies ahead.

Referring back to the map, he notices a region not charted on his Poke Gear. "The Lethia Region?... A region located at the edge of the world, If your looking to train, sail to our region, via special request at any harbor or dock..." On the map, a large red circle was drawn around it several more times than the other regions with the words "most concentrated battles" located underneath it.

You know, I'd apply here but I don't really get why would you allow trainers to have legendaries such as Mew?
Also is it just me or do you seem kinda desperate when it comes to application approval? xD

Good question. XD

Ill update topic #1 according to your question.

As far as app approval goes, I just do it because its my RP so its my rule. Plus it helps me keep track of everyone XD.

Well...i've chosen Mew on my team cuz i've seen Volcarona on MrKyurem team, and if you want,Quto, I can change my Mew to another Pokemon if that breaks your roleplay rule. And stop making questions because the roleplay has already started.

Jack Davis

It was around the mid afternoon when Jack exited the pokemon center. It had been a long and ardeous journey to Lilycove City but Jack had managed it. The trainers had been considerably harder than in the other part of Hoenn but it wasn't anything Jack couldn't handle. His first stop he had planned for was the department store, which was huge! Inside he could find anything he needed, be it potions, TM's, or even vitamins for his pokemon. He had already set aside some cash to spend specifically on his needed supplies and as he walked through the city a man stepped in front of him. He wore a cloak as well as a set of orange sunglasses. Jack didn't have any time to react when the man pulled out a cell phone and snapped a picture of him.

As the man tended to a device on his hip Jack's body stance grew tense, "Excuse me, sir? Is there something I can help you with?" The tone of his voice was hard, he didn't know who this guy was or why he was obsessed with taking his photo but the 'introduction' alone gave Jack a bad feeling. The device beeped and the man smirked, "YOU THERE! I CHALLENGE YOU TO A BATTLE! One pokemon! DO YOU ACCEPT!?"

Jack didn't know what taking a picture had to do with battling but he was ready none the less. "Of course I accept!"

The cloaked man smirked, "Very well! Come on out Machoke!" The man threw a pokeball out and the muscular pokemon popped out, taking a moment to flex its muscles before getting into its battle position.

Jack knew just who to use. "Come on out Bravo!" The Banette popped out and chuckled deviously at her opponent.

"Machoke use foresight!" The man's machoke narrowed his eyes at Bravo as the Banette's body glowed a bright white for a brief second. "Bravo send him a shadow ball!" The Banetter formed a black ball in her hands and hurled it at the fighter.

"Brace for it Machoke!" Machoke's body tensed as the ball slammed into his chest, "Now counter with a karate chop!" The machoke ran straight at Bravo, but Jack knew what move to use. "Bravo take it, then counter with shadow sneak!" The banette raised her arms to protect her head as the machoke's outstretched palm slammed down. As soon as the Machoke's attack hit the Banette's shadow seemed to take on a life of it's own and stretched out to appear behind Machoke and slashed at its target with its claws. Machoke cried out in pain which allowed Jack a quick second to issue another command. "Bravo another shadow ball!" The Banette chuckled as it formed another dark ball and threw it at its opponent, but instead it flew through the air and slammed against the ground when the man recalled his pokemon.

The man clapped, "Splendid job young man, here you earned this." The man took out a brochure, a map, and a badge case. As Jack turned around to talk to the man he couldn't see him anywhere. The crowd that had gathered to watch the match began to depart and Jack opened up the brochure.

Jack read through the brochure and pulled out his badge case and saw that it did have a badge component in it. Bravo lept unto his shoulder to look at the brochure and Jack just smiled, "At ease Bravo, take a rest. You earned it." Jack recalled his pokemon and looked at the brochure. It couldn't hurt to try, he thought. He then turned his attention to the map and saw that it referred to the Lethia Region. Never heard of that region before, he thought. The region seemed to be a miss mash of all kinds of terrain. Jack smirked and looked once again through the brochure's safety and survival tips before he headed to the department store.

Aaron was in Nimbasa City soaking up all the urban atmosphere. There wasn't much of this in his home country. He looked at the lights, the flashing lights that awoke the adrenaline inside him. He was just about to ride the Ferris wheel when he turned around and faced a man. The man took a picture of him, pulled out a set of orange sunglasses and shouted at him saying, "YOU THERE! I CHALLENGE YOU TO A BATTLE! One pokemon! DO YOU ACCEPT!?"

Aaron was taken aback. How did this guy even know him? Aaron accepted the challenge. This guy didn't look too tough, Aaron was going to try to make this fun.
The two men took out a Pokeball and called out their Pokemon.

Aaron took out Slakoth, while the mysterious man took out a Ponyta. The Ponyta went first using Flare Blitz. Aaron told his Slakoth to use Yawn...and quickly! Even though Yawn hit, Slakoth got hit and hit hard... Aaron told his Slakoth to hang in there. The he loafed around. Aaron facepalmed himself. Ponyta was going in for another Flare Blitz when he suddenly fell asleep. This was there chance. Slakoth attacked with a barrage of Scratch...and loafing. Finally, Ponyta woke up. It used Screech...ouch. Aaron told Slakoth to use Encore. Then Ponyta was stuck using the same move....whether that was a good thing or not, Aaron's ears were starting to hurt. He had to finish this. After Slakoth was done loafing around, he told his Slakoth to use Faint Attack and use it hard. His Slakoth hit the Ponyta with all his might. Ponyta fainted.

The man walked toward him, gave him a map, brochure and a badge case. The man smiled at him and walked off. Aaron read the brochure:

Jack Davis

It had taken Jack two hours to get his supplies, mostly because every single woman in the entire town had been there. He had found his supplies easily enough, but even then it had taken him a good hour to transverse through the crowds to find his stuff. Most of the items were stocked to the brim and he was able to find his potions and pokeballs. It was the TMs that he had been out of luck on. He had been looking for Shadow Ball as well as Calm Mind, but apparently the two, as well as ten other TMs, had sold out earlier in the week and it would take a week for a new shipment to come into town. Jack was just glad to get out of the crowded mall before he was crushed to death. Once he was outside he sought out the pokemon center to heal Bravo and to do a little research on one of the computers there.

The Lethia region had only three regions just like the map showed. It only had one pokemart and pokemon center on the entire island, and even then the mart only sold basic goods. The good stuff was actually located with vendors that set up their shops in the wilderness. The thing that worried him was the fact that there was no law enforcement there. The only thing that kept the town set was a group of trainers who acted as the enforcers, that was it.

Still, it seemed like a good place to train his team, but the thing that bothered him was the prize. One wish. Jack supposed it meant you could ask the league for anything and they would deliver. Jack knew there were some powerful trainers in the world, his chances were very slim, but there was no harm in trying. Retrieving Bravo from Nurse Joy Jack then sought out the harbor near the beach. After talking with a few captains of various boats Jack finally found a small speedboat that could take him to his destination. The fare was pretty cheap and soon enough Jack was on his way to the competition.
