Rules of the Scripts & Tutorials section
The community rules and Game Development section rules also apply here.

This section is for any kind of resource which isn't graphics, music or other audio, map packs and other such data. This section is for things such as: scripts, tutorials, software, game engines and other tools.

    Posting resources
    • Be sure to use the most appropriate thread category for your thread.
    • Your thread's title should be specific and descriptive. You should know from the title alone what the thread offers. Don't try to be snappy for the sake of brevity if it means being unclear.
    • The thread itself should state which program/tool/language the resource is intended for, where appropriate. For Pokémon Essentials-related things, state which version(s) of it are supported.
    • Be descriptive! Include as much description and explanation about what you are offering as possible. Don't just dump code and leave without instructions.
    • If your resource is superseded or deprecated by another resource (or, say, an update to Pokémon Essentials), remember to say so (make a post in the thread and edit the first post). You may choose to close the thread because of this, to avoid future confusion over whether your resource is still useful.
    • You can of course update your resource at a later date, if you need/want to.
    • Be sure to include credits, and where possible, state who did what.
    Additional guidelines for posting scripts
    • Note that this forum may not display code correctly in [code] tags. You should therefore put the code elsewhere (either in a .txt file attachment, or on Pastebin or elsewhere) and link to it.
    • For Pokémon Essentials scripts, state which version(s) of Essentials your script works in. Also, list versions which your script has not been tested in. Remember to update this information if/when newer versions of Essentials are released and if/when you update your script.
    • When you update your script, if it ends up being no longer compatible with, say, a version of Pokémon Essentials it used to be compatible with, it would be nice to continue offering the old version of your script alongside the new version. Make sure to clearly state which script version is for what.
    • Explain how to use your script.
    Additional guidelines for posting tutorials
    • Ensure that your tutorial is as descriptive as possible, and is easy to read and unambiguous. Also, if it isn't obvious why a particular instruction has been included (common in scripting tutorials), explain what the purpose of it is.
    • Make sure that your tutorial is correct before you post it, so that following its instructions will not cause any errors. This means you should test it out yourself first.
    • Avoid posting a tutorial (either in a new thread or an existing thread) if there is an existing tutorial about the same thing. However, you may post your own tutorial if it is different enough to the existing one, is an improvement on it, or if the existing one is out of date.

Revised rules written by Yuoaman, Cilerba and Maruno.
Some parts rewritten from older threads, by Avatar, Neo-Dragon, Berserk, Darkmage31, Dawson and Hiroshi Sotomura.
