Welcome!


The pursuit of knowledge is one of the noblest of tasks for only by learning from the past can we stride towards the future. This is the most fundamental principle that Kaza the Alakazam’s famed exploration guild is built upon.

The explorers that work under Kaza travel into the deepest depths of the wilderness around Apricorn Village and beyond in search of the greatest treasure: knowledge. They retrieve artifacts, record art and inscriptions and preserve that information for future generations. All the while they also take on other missions to help the Apricorn Village community and fund their guild.

You're either a newbie, a veteran, or just someone who's been a member for the past ten days.
I... I'm not sure what else to say here tbh.

How this works


In essence, this is a sandbox with plot. It's a huge world that has it's main history set up with the player's actions affecting what they would know about it. The rest of the lore and history is built by the community in an OOC (out of character) chat and by the players themselves in their personal plot.

While it does give you the illusion of choice, there is a main plot to fulfill for the lore to continue. These options are given by GM made missions that can unlock key locations in the world and useful bits of information that may help shape your perspective.

Currently Known Locations + NPC List


Apricorn Village
A small but bustling and steadily growing town in the middle of a grassy field not too far from the coast. Various forms of Apricorn trees can be seen everywhere as shrubbery. This is the central location where you will find Alakazam’s guild, Farfetch’d Market and many other useful businesses. The locals are mostly very welcoming and friendly here.

Spoiler: Notable Areas & NPCs
Porygon-Z Storage
The stall you see is unusually spherical. There is red circle acting as the roof with a larger red circle as the main walls. there are also some blue blobs that for some reason are magically suspended on the sides of the house, making it look like a Porygon-Z head. You can’t see anything inside it when you try to peek into the hollow area where the owner enters, and when you do try to get in, you’re blocked by a magical, technological forcefield. This is surely the best place to store your wares!

The owner of this stall is Porygon-Z, commonly known by everyone as Pory. He likes to keep to himself, preferring to encrypt the security of his storage area more and more. The ones that don’t understand see him as crazy, but he’s just… determined… to make his storage space the best one any guildmembers can possible avail! He really appreciates everyone who’s up to date with the times.

Farfetch’d Market
The stall itself looks like a giant tent made out of leeks with a hole in the middle for the stall to show. This area houses a multitude of wares. You can’t even see the interior walls anymore. The left interior has a lot of TMs for sale, the middle one with seeds and fruit, and the right wall with clothing and accessories for the trendy Pokemon.

Farfetch’d himself (Fet by friends) is a natural businessman. He likes to sell items to every willing Pokemon, and recommends leeks a lot for their usefulness. He has a one day warranty with items where you get your money back if it’s proven to be broken. He loves being on top of the shop crowd and aims to make sure his stall is always up to date with the best items.

Noctowl Appraisal
For some reason, the area looks like a giant bird’s nest with a simple roof. There’s only a lavish red curtain separating you from the interior of the building. However, once you walk in, suddenly it’s all glam and fancy. The floor is decorated with red velvet, and the walls a lush purple. You can’t really count how many golden decorations there are because there’s just too many to count. W o a h.

Noctowl, preferring to be called Nocta, is just as fancy too. She loves chests, every kind of them, and is just as curious as you are which is why she offered to create an appraisal shop. She isn’t picky with people, and will offer her services to anyone who is interested… and who has enough cash.

Alolan Meowth Bank
It’s… a giant box… for a stall. Legit. But believe it or not, it’s the safest place to store your cash. The box is made out of solid aluminum, only painted on to look like the cool cat’s version of a box. There are additional, giant golden plated chains wrapped around it to make it look extra secure. At the front part of a box is a simple table where Meowth, Alo, resides and talks to the customers.

Alo is a simple Meowth. He likes his cash, and customers like to keep their cash safe. He’s well known for his impenetrable box, comparable with Pory’s security. He likes it straight to the point and prefers that customers don’t waste his time talking to him. It is also rumored that he has connections with the Meowth Mafia, but that remains as a rumor to this day.

Audino Day Care
Audino Day Care is by far the only stall that actually resembles a house. The exterior is a normal pink house with walls, while the interior has a peachy look to it, with various peach colored beanbags littered on the wooden floor. There is also a special shelf for the eggs and another separate room for the younger ones.

Audino/Ino herself is a precious lady. She loves children with all her heart and will care for them and protect them 24/7 while they are in her care. Ino likes everything sweet and likes to help people out a lot. She doesn’t charge much for eggsitting, only asking for a small sum to keep the kids happy.

Hitmondojo
The Hitmondojo looks like a regular dojo… But with the hitmontrio’s decorative traits equally split on three sides, giving the building a wonky look. You can see that one sides has the clear distinctions of strong legs, one has spinning and dancing symbols, and one is aimed at boxing. The inside however looks very plain. A simple red mat with bamboo walls and training rooms everywhere.

The Hitmondojo is a special place. It is equally ruled by three brothers: Bruce the Hitmonlee, Jack the Hitmonchan, and Connor the Hitmontop. The three specialize in various, experimental tactics. Mostly, the three just want to see who is the best mentor by pitting their apprentices against each other in a quarterly battle of the Pokemon. Then there is Dre, a Tyrogue brother that will be inheriting the Dojo when he is deemed worthy to. So far, he isn’t and he’s been seen battling Pokemon who come in the Dojo and treating them as his rivals.


Alakazam's Guild
Alakazam’s Guild is a slightly imposing gothic-esque one floor stone building contained in a gated compound located in the northern edge of the Apricorn Village. The flowers and trees outside are kept neat and tidy, looking very much like a rich Pokemon’s castle. The inside however is contrastingly comfortable, looking brightly colored and is filled with various book and artifacts.

Visitors are instantly greeted with a map of the Guild building with the doors and areas properly labelled and organized with the mission board and visitor friendly areas on the only major floor, and important, guild member only places like their quarters and dining halls on a secret, basement floor.

Despite the outside appearing sombre, the interior of the building is usually lively and often even loud as adventurers come and go. Alakzam and Klefki actively encourage a friendly and fun, information filled environment in the guild.

Gate Entrance
Before you’re able to go in the guild, be prepared to be scanned by Bob the Bewear. Unlike many other Pokemon, he is quiet and collected. He stands in front of the black gates, judging if the adventurer is allowed to go inside the building or not. Bob likes to use actions instead of words, however he doesn’t even do much. If he doesn’t think you’re allowed to be let in, you won’t be able to get in. If you’re allowed, then he’ll let you pass by without a word.

Mission Boards Top floor
The mission boards are what every adventurer first sees when they step inside the building. It is strategically placed so that the adventurers won’t crowd over a single board, but rather the entire walls are corkboards pinned with various missions from various Pokemon.

Sometimes, adventurers can spot a shiny Totodile in a single space of the room reserved entirely for him. He is Toto, the shiny Totodile, and he is there to sell rare items that you cannot get anywhere. Unlike some other business men out there, he loves trading instead of getting coin. Be prepared to barter when you see him, because he’ll most likely have what you need.

Guildmaster’s Quarters Top floor
The Guildmaster’s quarters is fairly small, with only a table and three chairs in the center. The sides have the official guild certification with ranking along with some paintings of the previous guildmaster, another older, debated wiser, Alakazam. In the corner is also a huge treasure chest that seems to be unopened for a long time.

Inside the office you can find Kaza, the current guildmaster and world renowned scholar of the Pokemon world. For some reason, some of the guildmembers call him grandpa. He acts like he’s offended but his actions as a softie betray his actual emotions. Every adventurer can come to him for help and advice and he’ll gladly give it out to them. It is rumored that he can change into another, more powerful form when it is needed, but nobody has ever seen him actually do it yet.

And there’s also Key the Klefki. He’s Kaza’s secretary that rises with the sun. He opens up doors for Pokemon when they’ve managed to lock themselves out of their quarters. He is also an unusually fast worker, although he is seen to jitter most of the time, his keys clanging on each other. Most of the guildmembers, including Kaza, actively encourage him to rest but Key just says no and does his work without fail.

Infirmary Bottom floor
The infirmary is pretty plain. White walls, carpeted floors, and all the berries and equipment needed to heal an injured Pokemon in an instant. There are also charts of “first aid for newbies” on the walls, with first aid satchels (berries, bandages, etc) on a table for emergencies. There are also sleeping areas for fainted Pokemon and the Doctor’s office in the corner.

Doctor Omfe the Comfey is a bit of a problem doctor. She's lovely, with all her beauty, but she has a strict heal-it-yourself policy. She uses only her ability to help speed up the process. She does do her job when it's needed though... it's just most of the time she prefers her patients to learn.

Nurse Tiss the Aromatisse is the best nurse you’ll ever have. Unlike Omfe, she pities you. She's beautiful and thicc and helpful. Pokemon do seem to stutter around her, which makes her more confused on what to do for the Pokemon, and panics when she doesn't do it right.

Living Space and Dining Area Bottom floor
The living space is one of the many secret perks of the guild. There are sofas and bookshelves streamed on the sides of the room, while the center is littered with tables and chairs to accommodate the guildmembers. In front is a platform where the guildmembers can perform and entertain others. To the left side of the room is the Shuckle juice bar where he takes orders and provides quality drinks for Pokemon.

Luke the Shuckle is especially known for this eighteen-and-over drinks, those that are said to bring the most entertainment to the table. He however does strictly make sure the Pokemon is over eighteen. Luke likes to create the most delicious food that can cheer up a horribly bad day. He is always there for everyone and is a pretty good listener. He can however be pretty slow, so people need to somewhat patient with him.

Member’s Quarters Bottom floor
Guildmembers, should they not have a house of their own, are given a shared room with another guildmember in the west side of the bottom floor. This room houses their personal belongings and two beds. The decor is up to the members, but they are expected not to change the wooden flooring and the cream walls of the rooms.

As well as the many locations within Apricorn Village and the Guild, your work as an explorer will take you to a wide array of locations beyond the village's boundaries. You can find those locations listed below.

Lookout Coast
A cliff overlooking the ocean not too far from the Village. The view here is breathtaking and the area is home to a lot of Flying and Water types who enjoy the habitat.

Deep Lake
A perilously deep lake (hence the name) where water from the ocean flows in through multiple riverways depositing rare items like unusual shells or deepsea scales. Be warned though, the Pokemon of Deep Lake are very territorial and don’t like it when outsiders descend into their domain to loot.

The Combee Hive Village
A vast hive of Combee run by the regal and strict Queen Vespiquen. It is nestled deep within Honey Woods and is the chief producer and exporter of honey in the region. They have a very tense relationship with a neighbouring colony of heracross.

Honey Woods
A deceptively deep forest of beautiful trees that is home primarily to Bug and Grass type mon. Many of the swarming bugs in the Woods retain permanent settlements there but there’s little tension between most… most.

Heracross Estate
Estate is really too fancy a word for the small Heracross settlement. They are friendly to most but have an extremely tense with the neighbouring Hive Village over resources.

Vast Barrens
An enormous desert region beyond the village that only the hardiest Pokemon can easily survive in. The weather here is always hot and dry and the harshness of the landscape has left much of it unexplored.

Magnet Canyon
Located inside the Vast Barren’s, Magnet Canyon is a deep, wide and long gash in the landscape where many rocks produce powerful magnetic fields. The canyon attracts Steel types and a few hardy Electric types. Pokemon who aren’t savvy enough sometimes get stuck in the fields.

Winding Cave
A sprawling cave system that links between Honey Woods, Vast Barrens and Lookout Cove, passing directly under the Village. The walls are covered in strange and elaborate paintings in many places and some have theorised it is impossible to explore entirely.

Mission Board


Dewott's Shell: Requested by Dewott
Old Man Dewott has lost his seashell and needs a replacement, but finding the special kind of shell isn’t going to be easy. The only place to find the shells he’s looking for easily enough is at the bottom of Deep Lake where a river deposits them from the ocean. The residents of the depths of the lake don’t like intruders and it’s a long, long way to the bottom.

She’ll Sell Seashells: Requested by Farfetch'd
A Farfeth’d from the Market got wind of Old Man Dewott’s plight and decided it would be an excellent idea to stock a selection of shells. They’re looking for some mon with lots of time and no money to scour Deep Lake to collect a bag of shells. Be warned though, the Deep Lake Pokemon do not like outsiders intruding into their space.

Bees and Bandits: Requested by Vespiquen
The Combee Hive Village is being raided by a group of Heracross bandits for their precious honey. Queen Vespiquen, leader of the Hive, requests assistance in driving off the powerful invaders and ensuring that they don’t come back.

Alakazam’s Apples: Requested by Alakazam
The Guild kitchen is running out of apples and Alakazam want to restock immediately. He’s not waiting for the Market, he’s paying for one or two of his guild to go to the Orchard and collect as many apples as they can. They get to keep some for themselves and might get another reward too.

Crack the Canyon’s Code: Requested by Alakazam
A strange code of dots is inscribed in the walls of Magnet Canyon, getting close isn’t easy though as the intense magnetic waves that deep inside can cause problems. Rescue Team Mawile from where they are stuck in the chasm and then record the code for Alakazam to decipher.

Run for It!: Requested by Electrode
Electrode doesn’t look like it, but boy is it fast. Actually, it’s one of those fastest Pokemon ever and it’s looking for Pokemon who can give it a worth challenge in a race from the village to Lookout Cove. If you manage to impress it, or somehow win, you’ll be rewarded with a Choice Scarf that can make you much faster at the cost of not being able to use all of your moves.

Winding Cave Wonders: Requested by Smeargle
Winding Cave has become famous for not only it’s seemingly infinitely twisting, turning and confusing tunnels but also for the amazing artwork that is present on the walls depicting strange unrecognisable figures. The deepest part is also currently under the control of a rather mean Golem and his Variant Graveller brothers. You need to safely escort a Smeargle artisan through the deep part of the cave to create a replica of some of the art for study.

There are several businesses, shops and other services, available to the denizens of Apricorn Village. This post contains all the information you need to know about these establishments: what they provide and how much their goods and services cost. This thread will be updated for every three missions completed. Additionally, certain events triggered by participants may also result in sudden sales or influxes of rare goods.

You earn money to spend on these businesses as you complete missions. To purchase a good or service in Apricorn Village, you must tell me you are doing so either here in the OOC or via Discord along with your current balance before the purchase. If you want to barter for Toto's wares, you will need to discuss this with me as well. Please note it is your responsibility to keep track of your balance and inventory.

Appearance: The picture above is a pretty good guideline for what he looks like, except a few more bags under his eyes

Personality: Warren is one of the veteran members of the guild, having been there for almost two decades now. During his time there, he has transformed from the wide-eyed newbie to the resident grouch. Nobody really understands the change in attitude but also know better than to ask about it. Warren can usually be found at the bar when he's not out on a mission, spending whatever leftover money he has on Luke the Shuckle's delicious drinks. Warren prefers not to spend time socializing with people, typically doing his missions by himself or with the one Pokemon at the guild that he considers a friend, Eero, an Electabuzz. This unlikely friendship came to be after Eero saved Warren's behind more than a few times. Eero's moveset complements Warren's well, so the two oftentimes are seen together at the bar, albeit in silence, or on more difficult missions, and if someone is stepping out of line, or really getting on their nerves, at the guild hall, the pair aren't afraid to set them straight.

Though the cold exterior, Warren is one of the most reliable members the guild has and in a pinch can be counted on to come to the rescue of those in need, civilians and guild members alike. He has more than a few times taken the brunt of attacks in order to protect another Pokemon. Dr. Omfe the Comfey has ripped him a new one more than a few times about being smarter but that hasn't stopped Warren from doing it time and time again. Many wonder why Warren hasn't retired yet, or at least moved out of the guild quarters into his own place but Warren just shrugs and tells them that the guild is where he belongs.

    She lives at the guild now, but Chika was first born and thereon raised in the city of Kamenshi, a pseudo-metropolis ruled by peculiar, sylvan-faring monsters into the far forested outskirts of the continent.
    ------Upon hatching, the Paras nymph found herself abandoned in a sodden maze of tree roots and undergrowth, alone. Her solitary egg had been accepted, albeit reluctantly, at the insistence of Head Nurse Kuroyuri, leader in a nursery-and-foster-care initiative for highly-reproductive Bug-types. It was unknown where and how the egg was conceived; there was no indication of the mother, but it had been taken off the hands of a wandering explorer who might have been the father. It was equally baffling that the Paras, henceforth named “Chika” by the Head Nurse, found herself outside of the actual nursery, but in the sudden and devastating disappearance of a lady Vivillon's clutch of eggs, the little Paras was allowed to slip through as a miracle.
    ------Chika would go on to be raised by the Kamenshi community — that is to say, she lived by herself, took care of herself, was expected to live and take care of herself, and received some formal education on “avoiding ferality,” “self-defense” — the basics. It was a place populated by similar Pokémon, yet no others looked exactly like Chika, and she was never told why. There might have been bullying, but she snuffed that. Otherwise, it was a subtle “skirting-around” her existence. Growing up, she was always given empty promises of her father coming back.
    ------When an incident threaded an alliance between Kamenshi and representatives of local guilds in the event of warding off danger, Chika was inspired by this contact with the wider world. Ultimately, she decided to leave her city with guild escorts in hopes of reuniting with her father, who must have been important, and to pursue a vague concept of “destiny”; Chika was convinced that for her to become a great scholar of legend was necessary, and she would have to grow into the capacity. Starting with some rough battle instincts, an interest in yore, and a knack for map-reading, she was escorted over miles to Alakazam’s guild. It comes full circle.
    ● PHYSIOLOGY ●
    Just scraping a foot tall. A stout form is carried on three pairs of tarsi-tipped legs to cling, climb, and skitter through tight spaces. Chika’s eyes glisten and ogle at a world curved like a fishbowl behind chunky white-framed goggles finessed from Wide Lens’. ‘I paid a lots for 'em,’ she’d inssisst, hissing all her “ss”s from a gaping mouth lined with teeth.
    ------In combat, Chika can wield her claws with deadly dexterity as she blocks, bobs, and weaves. Without the acuity to tell where an attack will land, she needs fights to be as simple and direct as possible. The toughness of Chika’s thorax means she can afford blows to the front, and the mushrooms on her back serve as budding bastions for the soft abdomen underneath. They have a subtle luminescence to them that’s perceivable if dark enough, much as Chika herself tends to glow; her exoskeleton shines deep-red with a near persistence.

    Has the ability Dry Skin, making her susceptible to extreme weather condiions. An acuity to conditions, such as humidity changes, can be linked to a high sensory awareness of the world in-general. While her scope is limited in battles or other high-stress instances, the ability to “perceive” the world has proven essential in navigation.
    ------Dry Skin means water heals Chika’s wounds. When in contact with harsh sunlight, the Paras would describe the experience as akin to immolation.

    ● CHARACTER ●
    ---A neophyte, but a fighter inspired by idealism, work ethic, and discovery. Her plucky optimism ultimately leaves her impressionable in most instances. She has immediate respect for providers of advice and high spirits.

    "What's the point of an adventure if you can't look fabulous doing it?"

    Rose Marié / Female / 16 Years Old / Bulbasaur























    Appearance

    Rose Marié is a bit on the shorter side than the average Bulbasaur, standing at a height of 2'0". She tends to look like your average Bulbasaur, save for the fact of the various flowers that are already sprouting around the bulb on her back. Marié owes this to the genetics on her mother's side, who happens to belong to the Vileplume species of Pokémon. To enhance her appearance with these flowers, Rose Marié has crafted a small flower crown as well as a bracelet of sorts that she wears upon her front, right foot. She is never seen without either one of these rather fancy decorations and she values them more than almost anything in her life.

    Personality

    A lover of all things cute, Rose Marié comes off a bit as a fancy-elite. She is a very fashion conscious Pokémon, always making it her business to critique the appearance of her fellow guild members. Headstrong and determined, Rose Marié tends to act a bit on the rash side. She is eager to show that she is capable of lending a helpful paw in almost any situation, all the while maintaining a proper and fashionable appearance while doing so. She does tend to have a bit of an ego, rarely letting herself be the one to take the blame when something does go wrong, but the Bulbasaur does mean well most of the time. Rose Marié speaks with a thick, Kalosian accent and tends to call most of those around her by rather affectionate sounding nicknames such as "darling" or "dear".

    Appearance: Standing on all fours at one foot and ten inches, Nixo is a bit taller than average Rockruff, though this slightly larger size comes with a small drawback of not having as much bulk, not really able to take hits but still able to dish them out. The rocks within his collar are a little bit bigger than normal, though they get covered up by his overgrown fur from around his body somewhat.

    When Nixo goes out on any travels, he needs a place to put important items in. that’s where his bag comes in. Sure, it may not be that big and hold that much, but that keeps things limited, so only the important things will come along. That keeps him from having to dig through a mess of a bag (knowing him it would be a complete disaster).

    Personality: Nixo is quite tough by his own standards, though by tough he means that he’s not afraid to pull punches. Whether the punches are real or not vary based on the situation. He’s rather brash, he’s not really afraid of stepping on toes if it means speaking his mind on something important. He’s rather easily provoked due to him being quite prideful of himself and his own perceived ability to take care of whatever is thrown his way. He also sometimes sees it as him doing things that “keep the ball rolling”, as long as something is being done, he’s relatively happy.

    Nixo is also rather active, though that’s mostly due to him constantly needing to do something, whether it’s productive or not, as long as it’s something to be done is all that really matters. Though this tends to have the drawback of short nights or generally sleepless nights.

    Personality: A touch on the nerdy side.     Appearance:
    She stands at your average height for her species, her ears always pinned down. They frame her face due to the slowpoke headscarf she dons. A shellder pin keeps it held tight, visible underneath the chin. Matching the adorable piece is a similarly colored tail warmer that encapsulates more than half of her zig-zagging tail.

    Other than that, she's simply a regular-looking Pikachu.
    Personality:
    A gullible thing that indulges in sweets. Despite being clumsy, easily amused, and rather emotional, she does carry strengths. Ara strives to give it her all in every task, no matter how mundane or trivial. After all, slow and steady wins the race. In addition to this she has shown to be both a fast learner and capable of amazing feats of memorization. But that's as far as she goes, being more booksmart than hands-on.

    When it comes to interactions the Pikachu can be quite talkative when given the opportunity. Furthermore she tends to grow attached rather easily, finding comfort when with company than on her lonesome.

    Appearance:
    Nicholas's physical appearance doesn't vary much from the average Gligar, save for his wing flaps: they are colored an emerald green instead of the usual blue, an anomaly he was born with. Nicholas can often be seen wearing a pair of aviator goggles on his forehead, used for when he goes soaring through the air.



    Personality:
    On the surface it seems like Nick doesn't take himself--or pretty much anything—seriously, something that's readily apparent from the first time you meet him. He has a very good sense of humor and genuinely enjoys being foolish no matter what the situation is. Because of that, despite having only recently joined Alakazam's guild, he has earned a reputation for being immature, or towards those who are older than him, a lack of respect for his elders. He refuses to change though, brushing off any complaints about his immaturity. Those who work with Nick will soon discover that he's a bit of a scatterbrain and irresponsible, too, often losing track of things vital to a successful exploration, perhaps adding to the frustration of working with him. Even if everything has gone completely awry, Nick takes it upon himself to see the bright side of every situation with his unwavering optimism.

    Whatever is lost within his immaturity and irresponsibility is gained in how persistent he is. Once Nick sets his mind to something, he'll never give up on accomplishing it, even if it means losing sight of the bigger picture and smaller details. Nick's incredible sense of loyalty towards those he cares for also leads to him making hasty decisions without asking for second opinions. If there is one thing Nick hates though, it would be talking about himself. Any attempts at talking about himself and his personal life results in him being very evasive about the situation until the topic is changed.

      Her eyes and feathers show evidence of old age. She is in fact over 75 years old.

      Most of her life has been spent using her powers to protect others - foreseeing dangerous events in time to make preparations, or using psychic abilities to lend protection.

      When she opts to remain quiet, the Xatu can give off a mysterious air. A gaze from those almond-shaped eyes can be enigmatic, unnerving, or caring, depending on the situation.

      When she does speak, it's clear that years of experience and visions have blessed her with wisdom and ethics. She speaks evenly, with forethought, rarely raising her voice. She can even come across as a caring old lady, concerning herself with everyone's well-being.

      Occasionally, a smile will play across her oft-pensive face. In fact, it's not unheard of for the old bird to prod others with teasing that only an old lady can get away with.





      ⌠ Psychic Abilities. ⌡


      Augury - Quetzalli has a vision that may depict past or future events.

      Scrying - Quetzalli sees visions of what has happened to the target object/Pokémon in the past, or what may happen in the future.

      Mark of Vision - Quetzalli connects to another Pokémon's mind to perceive the world with their senses from their perspective.

      Miracle Eye - Quetzalli is able to look very far away, or beyond her confined space.

      Illusionary Senses - Quetzalli stimulates another Pokémon's brain, tricking the brain into feeling touches or seeing things that aren't real.

      Telekinesis - Quetzalli moves an object or Pokémon with her mind, causing them to "float."

      Telepathy - Quetzalli projects her voice (or mental images) into other's minds. She can sometimes read thoughts as well (depending on a variety of factors, mainly plot). This can be easier with allies, and more limited with unfamiliars. These thoughts can take the form of packets of info, mental images, or actual sentences, depending on the situation.

      ⌠ Combat Ability. ⌡


      Confuse Ray - Quetzalli stimulates another Pokémon's brain, scrambling their thoughts, or forcing them to see strange mental images, or disorienting flashes of light. This inflicts the Confused status condition.

      Psychic - Fluffed in one of two ways:
      Quetzalli gains psychic access to her opponent's mind, and tricks their brain into experiencing debilitating pain even though they are under no bodily harm.
      Or, Quetzalli takes telekinetic hold of her opponent, forcing them to float in the air, then directs them in any direction she wishes, often with great speed toward a hard object.

      Future Sight - Quetzalli glimpses a moment of the near future, of her opponent's movements. She aims not where her opponent is now, but where her opponent will be in the near future, aims precisely for that spot, and waits a moment for said future to arrive.
      On their post turn, when the opponent steps in this "trap," they are struck with a pinpointed high-power psychic attack, one that would be too difficult to accurately strike with without knowing exactly where to aim.
      Since it is in their post, the opponent may fluff this attack as they like, so long as it is psychic and high-power (base power of 120). Some examples: A sharp pain in their head with a ringing of the ears. A diagonal slash through the air that appears from nowhere. A coloured blast of energy shooting up from the ground like so.

      Air Slash - Fluffed in one of two ways:
      Quetzalli does a fly-by, zipping right by her opponent's side. As she passes, the edge of her wing inflicts a cut.
      Or, with each flap of Quetzalli's wings, a saw-like wave of energy shoots forth.

      Teleport - Quetzalli disappears from one location and reappears in another, so long as she can accurately envision her destination, e.g. through previous memorization or line-of-sight. (It is also possible to teleport to a random unknown location, but this is a serious risk.)

      Roost - Quetzalli finds a perch, closes her eyes and rests there. An faint halo of energy surrounds her, restoring half of her vitality.

      Magic Bounce - Quetzalli's ability allows her to psychically repel and reflect status moves. e.g. a move that would lower her defence, or put her to sleep.




      ⌠ Rumours and Background. ⌡


      Whether in the Guild, or just around town, it's likely you've heard this rumour, murmured between Pokémon.
      Whenever the topic of the uncertain future comes up, someone will inevitably bring it up...

      Rumours of an old bird who lives by herself on a rocky cliff.

      Rumours that she could see into the future with her right eye,
      and into the past with her left.

      Rumours that remain alive to this day.

      These rumours were not unfounded. It seemed this old Xatu was gifted with abilities not only psychic, but precognitive. And she refuses to misuse such a gift - believing it is her duty to use the gift Mother Mew has given her to protect others.

      Truthfully though, she was happy about the rumours. Most of them depicted her as a mysterious elderly bird with astounding precognitive abilities. Few knew her by name, but instead by the rumour.

      And without those rumours, no one would know of her, would they? She would just be a lonely old lady letting her ability go to waste.

      Members of the Guild, or of the general Poké-populace would seek her out now and again, for her wisdom or for her clairvoyant talent.

      In time, they asked her to join the Guild, to fill a position of Oracle,
      as she always had been to them unofficially. This is where we join her now, in the present day.

      Her premonitions are one of their biggest defences against disasters, both natural and criminal.
      Though she would also tell the pasts and futures of more personal queries.

      She is usually addressed as The Oracle or Seer.
      Those who know her very well, use her real name.


      ⌠ Childhood and Middle Age. ⌡


      Quetzalli was part of the pacifistic Inathi people, known for ruling over the Guntama Jungle and the tallest mountain in the world, which they've named the Nose of the World. The Inathi people have built several temples and monasteries on the mountain ranges around the Guntama Jungle. These mountains, cliffs, and temples are where Quetzalli originally called home.

      As a child, Quetzalli often used her precognition to cheat. Schoolwork, games, what have you. Sneaking peeks into the future even as a young chick proved to be an advantage she would often use unfairly, during the folly of youth.

      Only as an adult did her ability to look into the past materialize, and at this point she moved from her home in the mountains to a city at a lower elevation. Here, she worked as a historian for a university-like guild of Pokémon called the Archivists. Quetzalli loved this job, it suited her so well and she found it very fulfilling. She worked together with a dear friend in the Artisans Guild, an artistic Dwebble who loved to carve.

      But her temptation to cheat lingered, and she used it in the world of gambling that she found in the city. She was a clever bird, using her clairvoyance subtly to glimpse moments of the future of these gambling games, cheating the system in order to win. After being caught one too many times at each of the small gambling games around town, she was banned from each one. The Archivists Guild frowned upon this news, and asked her to resign.

      With her old way of life lost, Quetzalli chose to change her lifestyle. She moved out of the city and took up residence on a cliff surrounded by wilderness and a small village or two. Her Dwebble friend came to her aid, carving a dome-shaped clay house atop the cliff. Quetzalli decorated her new home with the many pots and sculptures that her Dwebble friend had gifted her over the years. Here is where she took up her new role in life: a fortune teller and soothsayer for anyone who would visit.

      She honed her craft during this time, and eventually, she was asked to see the future for a member of nobility, Jun Unfezant.
      Telling him of his future is her biggest regret to this day.
      As soon as she foretold a vision that disagreed with him - a vision of his defeat by the hands of a boy - Jun Unfezant went into a flurry, sending his warriors to kill this threat before it killed him. The casualties were heavy, and so is this memory on Quetzalli's mind.

      Though Jun is now out of the picture, she is still wary of how others may react to her foretellings. She reminds herself she must always consider how any Pokémon may react and change the future, if she tells them what she has envisioned. She must act not only as a clairvoyant, but as a wise moral figure as well. Her decisions on how to react to the future that she's foreseen, may well end up changing the future.

      As Quetzalli got on in years, she continued to use her clairvoyant talents to help anyone who would come to her. Some were good normal folk, some were more well known, leaders of their field. Archaeologists, rescue teams, guildmasters. She in turn became more well known, rumours spreading. (This leads into the Rumours section you've already read.)






      ⌠ Goals. ⌡


      Naturally, Quetzalli's way of life comes with a good deal of challenges. Many urban Pokémon choose ignorance over education, leading to ugly misconceptions about the Xatu's precognitive abilities.

      Even so. Quetzalli does not actively seek any Pokémon's defeat.
      Ideally, she'd like to see peace between any two groups of conflict.

      Using the gift of clairvoyance she has been given, to improve others' lives, and to protect them from dangers, is Quetzalli's one biggest goal, a lifelong goal.

      She reminds herself she must always consider how any Pokémon may react and change the future, if she tells them what she has envisioned. She must act not only as a clairvoyant, but as a wise moral figure as well. Her decisions on how to react to the future that she's foreseen, may well end up changing the future.

      ⌠ Religion and Spirituality. ⌡


      Quetzalli subscribes to the Mewish faith, a belief that Mew is the Mother of all Pokémon (and that Arceus only created the universe, not its lifeforms).

      This faith emphasizes nurturing, protection, peace, and learning. It is by no means widespread, but seems a little more popular with psychics, who feel a connection with Mew and this ideology.

      Her religious demeanour: Intolerant, occasional expression of beliefs, rare conversion, humble attitude

      ⌠ Hobbies and Handicaps. ⌡


      Hobbies: Fortune telling (obviously), philosophizing, reading, storytelling,
      music and art appreciation, antiques, and oddly enough, gambling.

      Oddities: Superstition, exaggeration, and eavesdropping.

      Handicaps: One of the most obvious handicaps Quetzalli has is her age. She's old. Old enough that her body can fail to keep up with young people. Her mind is exceptional, but time has taken its toll on her body.

      Regarding the telepathy/mind reading she can "sometimes" do: I am aware this can be a sticking point so I'm happy to talk about the conditions under which she can and cannot read thoughts. For example, perhaps she can only read thoughts strangers when the GM tells me she can, and she can freely read thoughts of allies. Or, perhaps those allies also need to give OOC permission and/or a "cue" in their narration.

      As for clairvoyant abilities, information she sees inside visions could be provided at the GM's discretion, unless the "sandbox" nature of this RP means I can be/should be more fast and loose with making those up myself.

      I'm open to discussion with the GM regarding the other psychic abilities (the ones that are not combat moves) that I've proposed, as well.

      "How far back have I seen?" Quetzalli repeated. "Hm! An interesting question." The bird took a few moments to finish her mouthful and think back on this. It was interesting that the captain swept the conversation in this direction, and not toward visions of the future, which most people were more interested in, in her experience.

      "Alright, here's an example." She looked up at Jon again, but also swept her gaze across his crew. "You've heard of the ancient battle between Megistea and Atlandea, yes?"

      Jon hadn't had proper tutoring when he was younger, and history was something he'd never learned much of, but he at least knew about that battle. It was regarded as the most important battle in the history of the Known World. It was supposedly the battle which tore the landmass into two, creating Sonara and Antara, as Groudon and Kyogre each fought for their factions with disastrous results.

      He nodded. Everyone knew about that story.

      The Xatu took a break from her meal to play storyteller. She spread her wings, just enough to illustrate her point, without getting her feathers in her neighbours' plates. "These two cities were superpowers at the time. It was a time just barely before the Known World, which historians simply dub the Ancient World. Now, Megistea and Atlandea, to augment their armies, they each decided to use the Legendaries themselves as their weapons, pitting one against the other. Having these Legendaries fight for them."

      She looked to and fro across the table, checking that she had her tablemates' attention. "Even one strike from these creatures could bring down a mountain. Waging an entire war with them brought immeasurable fallout. As you know, the very continents were changed. Individual cities, they... They were devastated.

      "One of my ancestors was a guardian of one of these ancient cities. A Sigilyph, whose name I never did catch. I have seen him, darting about the ruins of his city. Fresh ruins, at that." The Xatu's expression darkened sadly. "Fresh bodies, as well. His role, it was guardian of this city, but I could feel his despair, he could find nothing left to guard, no one left to... to protect."

      Her beak dipped, her eyes closed. "I watched him search the city he lost for some time, but it never bore fruit. Eventually it became too hard to watch. I don't know what happened to him after that.

      "That was long, long ago," the Seer said. "One of the oldest visions I've had. Not one of the brightest."

              Appearance: His appearance is no different from that of a regular Alolan Graveler except for that he has a yellow stone on his forehead.

              Whoo boy, the telepathy is quite a sticking point to this. I'm personally fine with the clairvoyant abilities but this is slightly a lot different. NPC wise, you're going to have to ask me should you want to mind read certain NPCs (for example, key guild members and towns pokemon, Kaza obviously is too experienced to be able to read properly). But for other allies, you'll need them to give explicit OOC permission just to be safe.

                Ok, so what I'm hearing you saying is that I require OOC permission to take information from anyone's mind regardless of who they are. That's totally fair. Should I ask my fellow players and GM in discord while I'm writing a post? Or had you something else in mind?

                I'm glad you're cool with the clairvoyant abilities! I was actually wondering if things like Miracle Eye or Mark of Vision would be sticking points.

                What do you think of the way I've described the combat moves?

                I'm not sure if you addressed the question which I have highlighted in underline, above. Should we talk about that a bit?
                But I'm glad we agree about this plot starter thing, and passing information to me (and my allies, I'm not gonna keep to myself) through this clairvoyance.

                Concerning your comment about weakness (underlined), I think Quetzalli would show physical signs of aging, including in how she moves -- however, only a single move in her moveset relies on moving. The rest rely on the mind. If she's a talented psychic and weak physically, it wouldn't make sense that "her moves aren't the best," right? Except Air Slash.

                Anyway, I'm gonna go right ahead and be the member who asks all the nooby questions. :D Maybe beginners like me will benefit from the answers. ^_^

                1. How will collaboration work in this role-play? When players choose to compete with each other or work together, will joint posts be necessary, or could a different method be used? (I assume cooperation will be required during plot missions, for the most part. After all, it wouldn't much fun if everyone went solo, right?) ^_^

                2. Are the physics of mystery dungeons similar to the games? How exactly will they work?

                3. Do players take control of NPCs when interacting with them, or are they strictly under the GM's control? I ask because in the PMD RP I did, players handled the NPCs, but that kind of led to character inconsistencies.

                4. How will descriptions work? Let's say I wanted to describe Apricorn Village as having a certain quality or characteristic, but it contradicts other players. Writing the setting is my favourite part, pretty much, so I'd appreciate information on this. ^_^

                5. With characters who are already guild members, they're bound to have items and poké. This would be especially true for veterans. What are the limitations on this, in order for characters not to be over-equipped and thus overpowered?
