[Gen 3] Insanelocke Challenge

Hello!

So months ago I posted an idea for a Pokemon Nuzlocke run that I felt was fairly original and finally I have the chance to attempt it!

So on to my Insanelock (named after the forum I came up with it), I'm going to attempt to play through six Pokemon hacks in order. Pokemon Fire Red Omega, Storm Silver, Omega Emerald, Bloody Platinum, Blaze Black & Blaze Black 2. These are all modified versions of the game that generally increase the difficulty. Instead of limiting how many Pokemon I can catch I've gone the opposite route; I can use almost all of them. The caveat is that I must follow these rules;

1. Once a Pokemon faints it is dead and will be released.

2. SET battle mode. No free switching.

3. I cannot use items in battle.

4. Teams must have a theme. If the theme is type then 5/6 Pokemon must share a type. Other themes include weather, Baton Pass or Trick Room. There are a few exceptions to this rule in the BW era as I literally couldn't form teams, these teams are called 'Leftovers'.

5. I cannot change Pokemon in my team for battle purposes. TM/HM Pokemon can be added to my team temporarily to advance the story but cannot be used for battle.

6. Pokemon cannot be replaced after death. This means if a Pokemon or two faint I will battle on with an under sized team for as long as possible.

7. No over levelling.

8. All Pokemon must have a nickname.

9. The most insanely powerful legendaries cannot be used. I won't list them all but suffice to say Mewtwo, Rayquaza etc. will not be rearing their ugly head.

So with the above rules I think this should be quite the challenge! I will not be catching Pokemon, but rather I have created 56 teams that fit the above rules and will put them into the game as and when I need them. So essentially the challenge is to see if I can beat all six hacks before my death counter reaches 336. I'm not sure if this run is going to be easy or hard, 336 sounds like a lot until you realise these are difficulty hacks with almost 200 Gym, Rival and Elite Four battles I have to slog through! Even at 1.5 deaths per Boss (that's one wipe per four Bosses) I barely succeed and that's in some bizarro world where random trainers and wild Pokemon don't kill anything! The run is also oddly self regulating, if I beat Storm Silver with amazing Pokemon such as Metagross, Tyranitar, Dragonite, Salamance, Gyarados etc. I then have to start Omega Emerald with their crappy pre-evolved forms and the likelihood of them dying before becoming awesome is pretty high.

I have not played over half the mods so half the run is blind, although I have heard that Omega Emerald has some very good teams later on and Bloody Platinum gets insanely ridiculous, so I suspect death shall be everywhere. My strategy is to use weak teams and Pokemon for as long as possible and my teams will get progressively stronger.

I will be streaming the entire run on Twitch (same name). I'm unsure on the forum rules here but hopefully I can embed the videos in posts to keep you guys updated! If not I'll use screenshots and keep you posted in the regular format.

Wish me luck!

So I figured I would log this in a semi-story format. All the important battles are recorded and will be posted, the in between parts I'll use text and possibly screenshots to elaborate

Chapter 1: Beauty and the Beast

Beast stood proudly in Palllet town, his adventure was about to begin. His mother had looked at him with such a strange sorrow in her eyes, like she lamented his journey. She warned him of the dangers of course, Pokemon was no game.

Beast had always heard his calling. Pokemon fascinated him. Though he couldn't deny that the rumours made him uneasy. Stories of dark and terrible trainers who had somehow found a way to cheat death. Everybody knew that once a Pokemon battled it was to the death, but these twisted necromancers raised their Pokemon from the dead, forced them to fight again and again. Beast hoped with enough strength he could put a stop to it.

It was then that he heard of the 'Insanity Challenge'. To collect 56 Badges and become the Champion of six different leagues. None had succeeded, but Beast wanted to try. The necromancers had become too powerful, regular trainers lived in constant fear of meeting one; since their Pokemon never died they were undoubtedly the most powerful trainers on the planet, but if Beast could complete the Insanity Challenge then surely he would be powerful enough to stop them? He vowed to try.

He looked lovingly at his team. Fusoya, Edge, Cid, Cecil, Edward & Kain.

Despite their cute appearance they were killers one and all. Beast had trained them that way. To become a Pokemon Master you had to be willing to kill hundreds of rival Pokemon, so it was best to teach your Pokemon to revel in battle, only that way could they survive. The path Beast was about to take was not for the lighthearted, he did it for the greater good.

His first foray was into Viridian Forest, there a bug Trainer with a Weedle poisoned Cid. Beast looked at him with despair, not one day into his adventure and he had already made his first mistake; he had forgotten to buy antidotes! They rushed to the Pokecenter, with the help of a Potion Cid made it, but barely. Beast reprimanded himself. He would have to learn quickly.

Beast stood in Pewter City and stared at the Gym in front of him. It was shaped like an enormous boulder. He had heard of the Gym Leader who dwelt within, a man named Brock who prided himself on his iron hard...will.

Beast smiled, his adventure truly began here and he had the advantage. Rock type Pokemon were no match for Grass types. He entered with his Pokemon.

Spoiler:

He left Pewter City beaming with pride at his Pokemon. Cid was fearsome. He ventured into Mt. Moon and battled any trainer foolish enough to meet his stare. The place was crawling with trainers, each were crushed by his team. Edge, Edward and Cecil evolved into more powerful forms.

Beast found himself in Cerulean City. He made straight for the Gym Leader. He had heard of this Misty, but again he knew Grass types were too strong for any Water trainer, so he revelled in the chance to prove his worth.

Spoiler:

Hah! Beast was on top of the world. His rival Beauty had been crushed and Misty had fared no better. This Insane Challenge was proving to be somewhat easier than expected. Nugget Bridge was filled with more fools destined to meet their demise. At the end of it all Beast met some fool who had managed to turn himself into some sort of Pokemon, to quell his fury the man offered him tickets to SS. Anne where more prey had gathered.

Aboard the ship Beast ran into Beauty, who looked at him with a sinister grin.

'So we meet again. I'm sorry Beast, but I cannot lose'

Spoiler:

Beast stared into the distance, shocked, numbed. He had never liked Beauty growing up but to imagine, him, a necromancer! His vile practice had cost Cecil his life. Anger boiled inside him. This would not be forgotten, this would not be forgiven...
