Yay, double post!

ELITE MASH UP in Pokémon Emerald

CHAPTER 3 - 2 Champions 1 Win

Hey, you know what happened? I completed the game. And it was harder that I expected.
VS Sydney - I had my secret weapon Jamie... And it got KO'd after 2 turns. So I had to win somehow without it.
VS Phoebe - I had my secret weapon Jamie... And it got KO'd after 2 turns. So I had to win somehow without it.
VS Glacia - I had my secret weapon Jamie... And it got KO'd after 2 turns. So I had to win somehow without it.
VS Drake - Dragons showdown! Explosions everywhere! And then... ICE!

VS Wallace - LEVEL 57? Ohh, shoot! My team is around level 53... Well, I lost. After years of not losing againts E4, this challenge broke my streak...

And with that... I had to train again and challenge E4 once again!
VS Sydney - I had my secret wea... SKIP
VS Wallace - Whose overleveled now?

And with that... I completed the challenge.

But wait, there's more. As you might noticed, I didn't beat the Champion Steven yet, I only beat that C list character Wallace. After hours and hours of training and getting lost in that dragon cave where Steven is, I finally found him. Just like Red and Gold, we have our final showdown in the cave. And I was kinda overleved, because I thought that Steven has Pokémon around level 81, just like Red in the GSC, so I trained my team to level 80. But it was still hard battle, Steven even KO'd some of my Pokémon.

Okay, another challenge done... I think I'll go with either Culinary Challenge or Trio-Species in Unova.

Also, after some more research, I decided to change challenge 33 - Z-moves, a little bit. I realize there are really small number of Pokémon with specific Z-move, so the new text of the challenge will be:

All your Pokémon must have Z-Crystal attached to them. You also have to include at least one Pokémon with specific Z-move on your team.
You must use Z-move in every major battle (Totem Pokémon, kahunas, E4, Guzma, ...)

I hope no one is doing it at the moment and that you like this change.

My username (for the name challenge in Johto) is weird. I couldn't decide between my traditional username (ddrox) or my current one (Spirit). Issue is, neither works. For ddrox, it ends up as almost a full game Xatu solo run. Dragonite and Donphan are both ~Gym 8, Rhyperior is Victory Road, and Omastar is post-game exclusive. For Spirit... well, let's say I'd be forced to use Iggilybuff. So my current plan for that challenge is to run with a Drayano hack, Sacred Gold. It takes place in Johto and plays out exactly like HG, except that the gyms are harder, the level curve is less Johto-y (bad), and the wild encounters are vastly increased. This gives me two teams to pick from: Donphan, Drapion, Roserade, Omastar, Xatu (Omastar is now obtainable in Goldenrod, Donny before Falkner), OR Staraptor, Pachirisu, Illumise, Roserade, Infernape, Typhlosion (Infernape is a gift in Goldenrod) If you don't want me to use this and have a Better Idea, just tell me. Not starting this for a while methinks.

In the meantime, I'm planning on getting my Champion Challenge (Johto) to Goldenrod. Why? Because I need a Dratini to have a competent non-Magikrap team member before the 3rd gym, so I best get Voltorb Flippin. Oh, and I still need to finish my solo run that I'm in the middle of.

Okay update time:

BINGO Part 1: SoulSilver Champion Challenge
Update I - Dragons, Water, and /tableflip (but no water dragons yet)
Badges: 3/14 (2 badges exempted)

First, let's route. I'm using the Johto champions, Lance and Red, as my inspiration. First I looked at Lance's team. Kindgra is one of my favorite mons that I've never properly used, so that's one. Dragonite will be option 2 because hello? Dragonite. I went back and forth for 3, but settled on Gyarados because it's literally free. From Red, I picked the two of his Pokemon I actually like - Lapras and Espeon - and then Snorlax because idk. Snorlax is Kanto-locked, but I don't really care, I'll 5-man Johto. It works better that way anyway.

Game start I guess. For obvious reasons, I picked Cyndaquil as my starter. His name is Flare. Because Cynda is busted as shit, nothing in the first two gyms presented a challenge.

In Goldenrod, I finally got access to the Game Corner, and therefore my first party member. But first, V O L T O R B . F L I P .
Gods I hate this game arghhhh

Enter: Zestiria the Dratini. NOW we can start the run! Zesteria gets to Lv20 after Drakon Rageing the entire vicinity of Goldenrod, and we go into the gym. Compliments of 3 X-Defense, Whitney goes down with relative ease because Drakon Rage.

Head to Ecruteak, meet Bill, follow him to Goldenrod, and get Lumen the Eevee. Of course, the next gym is Morty, so the only logical thing is to evolve immediately, so the happiness grind begins. And then it ends and Lumen hits 15 and evolves into Espeon. She then almost solos Silver III and the entire Ecruteak gym, only needing assistance with Crocanaw and Gengar (even then, the latter was just Paralysis support).

I go to Olivine like normal and... Wait a second. What the heck am I doing here besides getting a fishing rod? Answer: Nothing. I start by fishing up a very temporary HM slave - Fish the Goldeen. He does his job - Escorting me across the lower levels of Union Cave to find Aria the Lapras. I then do Ye Olde Johto Sequence Break and head to Mahogany. And by Mahogany I mean the Lake of RAWR. And by the Lake of RAWR I mean my new friend Corrin the Gyarados (except more red). Aria then tears the entire Rocket HQ to shreds, and then Lumen+Aria+Corrin take out the 7th Gym. Except I did it 5th. Johto logic.

Anywho, I went back to Olivine and beat up the Lighthouse, and proceeded to the Whirl Islands. Now armed with Whirlpool, I can actually enter the caves right away. I intend to catch a Horsea in here, but that can wait for another day. In other news, Zesteria evolved into Dragonair!

Team is exactly what I said above all level 30 too lazy to copy okay bye

Okay, first things first: Atlantea the Horsea joins up, and it's time to T R A I N

And now we're overlevelled, so Lumen solos Chuck. Johto doesn't know what balance is though, so Jasmine is still higher level. Luckily for me, everything is either quad-weak to Lumen's Dig or weak to Water and I have like 8 of those.

Team Rocket is a pushover

Teaching Thunder to Corrin was a really good idea, but Ice Beam is still the best play for Clair.

Luuuuuuuuuuuuugia

Atlantea (who's evolved twice by this point) solos VR Rival, so e4 time. Will, Koga, and Bruno mostly fell under Lumen's domain, while Aria did most of the work on Karen. Aria was also solidly the MVP of the fight with Lance, being an Ice-type and all.

So that's that. I'm on the SS Aqua now. However... A NEW UPDATE APPROACHES

BINGO Part II: Y Pick-a-Route - Route 10
Update I - Rollout is p busted
Badges: 0/7 (1 badge exempted)

So I picked Route 10 for this. This route has unquestionably the best variety in Kalos, if nothing else than because Eevee is available for coverage of any type. I opt for two Eeveeloutions in my route - Vaporeon will be *mostly* a Surf slave, but this is one of those rare challenges where the HM slave is a perfectly viable team member, and Umbreon just has its weaknesses well covered by the rest of the team. For the rest of the team, I get two Pokemon I've wanted to use for a while - Golurk and Emolga - a Pokemon that served me quite well in my latest Locke - Probopass - and Hawlucha, who's just really broken.

I pick Chespin, name it ur bad, and proceed through the boring part using almost exclusively Rollout.

After death warping in Glittering Cave to avoid riding the stupid Rhydon again, I'm finally at Route 10. Now the fun can begin. My first capture is my first encounter - Einheria the Hawlucha. Next, I catch my first Eevee, Barbarossa (to be Vaporeon). This was followed by Braev the Golett, Qada the Nosepass, and Praline the Emolga. The last member of my team is the other Eevee, Victoria (to be Umbreon). Haven't trained them yet. so there.

A RAINBOW ROAD CHALLENGE ON POK?MON SILVER

UPDATE #1

After finishing the first challenge on Pok?mon Red, I decide to take the top challenge from Johto: Rainbow Road. I'll play this on Pok?mon Silver. In this run, I'll be using Russian nouns for nicknames (for the ones who noticed, in the last run it were Japanese nouns).

At professor Elm's lab I let the last number of my Trainers ID decide what my starter's gonna be: 1-3= Fire type, 4-6= Grass type, 7-9= Water type and 0= 2nd last number. My ID is 22169, so I pick ZUB the Totodile (Zub is Russian - in Latin letters - for tooth).

This means the order of colours will be:
BLUE - PURPLE - PINK - RED - YELLOW - GREEN

I go through the whole introduction part with ZUB and meet RIVAL, my rival, for the first time. This is an easy fight.

In Violet I beat the Elder in Sprout Tower, and also Falkner, both simply by being overlevelled.

I could catch a Gastly or a Zubat for my purple Pok?mon, but decide to solo a bit further. In Azelea I beat Team Rocket at the Slowpoke Well, after which ZUB evolves Croconaw.

Now, ZUB has no problems defeating Bugsy, and my second badge is a fact. This is going fast.

I defeat RIVAL for the second time, catch a Paras to be my HM Slave and make it through Ilex Forest. I ignore Goldenrod for now, and go to route 35 to catch my second teammember: KOROL the Nidoran (m) (Korol is Russian - in Latin letters - for king).

I train KOROL using some trainers around Goldenrod, and he evolves in Nidorino. Then, I challenge Whitney, fearing her Miltank, but KOROL'S Double Kick is deadlier than Miltank's Rollout.

I get rid of the Sudowoodo blocking the path, obtain Rock Smash and make it to Ecruteak. Now, I can catch 3 new team members, almost completing my team. First, I go east, to route 38. Here I search and catch KOROVA the Miltank (Korova is Russian - in Latin letters - for cow).

Next stop, Ecruteak Burned Tower. First I battle RIVAL, for the 3rd time. I don't think I will ever struggle too much with him. Then I go down to the bottom floor and catch OGON the Magmar (Ogon is Russian - in Latin letters - for fire).

My yellow teammember I find in the far west, north of Mahogany. I was still in doubt if I should catch a Girafarig, but decided to go for Ampharos. Meet OVTSA the Flaaffy (Ovtsa is Russian - in Latin letters - for sheep).

I know now who my last Pok?mon is gonna be, but it just has to wait a bit longer. First, I go back to Ecruteak and battle Morty. This one, I totally "Whitney" : KOROVA starts with an Attract, to possibly avoid damage, so she can build up her next move, Rollout. It works. Ghastly is in love, and doesn't attack me (no clue if it can anyway...) and KOROVA just crushes through it and all of Morty's other ghosts.

I beat the Kimono Girls to get HM Surf and save for now, after 4h55m ingame time.

A RAINBOW ROAD CHALLENGE ON POK?MON SILVER
BINGO! challenges completed: 1/20

UPDATE #2

Now that we can cross water, we can go on a new mission. I retrace my steps to Rock Tunnel and surf to a new area of the Ruins of Alph. Here, I catch our final companion, PTITSA the Natu (Ptitsa is Russian - in Latin letters - for bird.

Next, I go all the way back to New Bark, surf east to the Tohjo Falls, and pick up a Moon Stone. Now, KOROL is a true King!

Back to the main story. At the lighthouse I find out that Jasmin needs help with a sick Pok?mon, so no gym challenge yet. So I jump on ZUB's back and surf toward Cianwood. On the way, PTITSA evolves into Xatu and OVTSA into Ampharos.

I arrive in Cianwood, surf back to pick up HM Strength in Olivine, and back again to Cianwood (every time!!!). It's PTITSA and OVTSA that get me my fifth badge, and now I can Fly. I don't forget to pick up the SecretPotion for a change, and go back to Olivine.

I don't think I can beat Jasmine yet, too underleveled, so I go to Mahogany and the Lake of Rage. I beat the red Gyarados, meet Lance, beat Team Rocket, and beat Pryce. Also, I pick up a Sludge Bomb, only to discover that KOROL can't learn it... ??

6 badges, and number 7 coming. Jasmine is easy now, with OGON and ZUB, now a Feraligatr, having the type advantage.

I go through all the shenanigans at Radio Tower in Goldenrod, where I beat RIVAL for the 4th time, and can now go to Blackthorn for my final badge.

This is the first real challenge of the game. My team has been very balanced so far, but an Ice Punch might not be enough. I start again with the Whitney technique, and KOROVA beats the first 2 Dragonairs. She rerolls against the 3rd, but too much is too much. ZUB's Ice Punch finishes it. Kingdra is a pain, as always. ZUB bites and heatbutts, and then faints. OVTSA finishes with his Thunder Punch.

Elm gives me a Masterball and now I can go to the League. I catch a Goldeen to ride waterfalls with and make it through VR intact, even beating RIVAL without a scratch.

After grinding everybody to lvl 42 (you know, the answer...) I challenge the E4.

Will
Electric and Fire are the main ingredients here. OVTSA and OGON have no troubles beating Will's Psychics.

Koga
OGON uses Flamethrower for Ariados and Forretress. KOROL uses Earthquake for Mukesh and KOROVA uses Rollout for both Venomoth and Crobat.

Bruno
I start of with PTITSA against Hitmontop. Fly doesn't seem to work due to Detect, but Night Shade and Future Sight do the trick, since Hitmontop barely hurts me. Hitmonchan is also food for PTITSA, but Machamp finishes her with a Rock Slide. KOROL finishes both Machamp and Hitmonlee, and ZUB is too strong for Onix.

KOROL starts by double kicking her Umbreon. PTITSA then uses Fly against Vileplume. Houndoom is fast and damages ZUB quite a bit, but Surf is still strong enough. Same story with Murkrow and OVTSA's Thunder Punch. KOROVA is last, to use Shadow Ball for Gengar.

I decide to start with KOROVA. I give her an X Accuracy and start rolling. She beats Gyarados and two lvl47 Dragonites, before losing against lvl50 Dragonite. ZUB takes over, and finishes with Ice Punch. Also Aerodactyl is toast after a Surf/Ice Punch combo, but Charizard manages to finish ZUB with a Hyper Beam (so no healing) and <10 HP left. Any of my team can finish it now, and it's PTITSA that uses the last move, Thief.
