Faeries & Daemons
a game of Mafia
[alink id=1]Intro[/alink id] ღ [alink id=2]Roles[/alink id] ღ [alink id=3]Rules[/alink id] ღ [alink id=4]Cast[/alink id]

What is Mafia?
Mafia is a game of love, betrayal, and murder. Kind of. All of the players will be split into two main factions, with a few unaffiliated roles making an appearance in this particular incarnation. The first main faction is comprised of the Innocents, the uninformed majority to which we will refer as Havenites. The second main faction is composed of the Mafia, the informed minority that we will refer to as Hellspawn. Each faction will be tasked with completely wiping out the other until one comes out victorious.

The game is played in two phases: a cycle of Day and Night. During the Day phase, all players will deliberate among themselves to decide on who to burn, in attempts to wipe out the Hellspawn. Of course, it would be too simple if the Hellspawn weren't present in the discussion under the guise of innocence, so Havenites will have to be wary of all of their fellow players. During the Night phase, the thread will be "locked" and the Hellspawn will chat over Private Messages and decide on one Havenite to murder. Their choice will be revealed at the beginning of each Day phase. Certain roles also have Night actions, which can be activated by sending a PM to me during the Night phase. When a competitor is killed, their alignment (but not their role) will be revealed.

Roles will be assigned at random at the start of the game, and the game will commence once all roles have been sent out.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by PM or VM.

[a id]1[/a id]Introduction
As the sun began to creep over the horizon, the normally soothing atmosphere of Haven seemed tense. Something was wrong. A gentle breeze blew through the leaves of the many trees surrounding the village, but it didn't feel natural.

There was no sound. No birds sang. No insects chirped.

The silence was deafening.

As rays of bright sunlight poured into cabin windows, the citizens of Haven began to awaken. At first all seemed normal, but it didn't take long for the faerie folk to sense that something terrible had happened. Slowly villagers began to emerge from their homes, one by one. They looked about in confusion, searching for the source of their uneasiness. Their answer came in the form of a terrible scream that resonated from within the Seer's hut. Instantly citizens rushed to the source of the sound.

A young woman ran out from the building, sobbing and babbling incoherently. Citizens gathered around, asking her what was wrong. A few went towards the Seer's hut as the girl initially failed to respond. Eventually she managed to choke out two simple words.

"She's dead!"

Two words. Two words were enough to silence the entire crowd. The air of shock was palpable. A few more citizens ran to the hut to inspect it, to see if what the girl said was true. Others simply collapsed, mirroring the girl's heartbroken image.

Inside the Seer's hut, a few people had gathered round the main room. The mutilated corpse of what was only a few hours ago the kindest and most trusted women in all of Haven lay in the center of the room, soaking in a pool of deep crimson. Around her, painted with the Seer's own blood, was a daemon sigil.

Lilith was in the town.

And she wasn't alone.

[a id]2[/a id]Roles

Havenites

The Seer Ascendant
The Seer is the spiritual leader of Haven, guiding the people with a second sight granted by the goddess Hecate herself. The Seer Ascendant is the next in line to take up the mantle of their predecessor, and their identity is kept a secret until the moment of their coronation. Every night, the Seer Ascendant can look into the realms beyond and discern the true identity of one other citizen. The mental strain placed upon the Ascendant during this task restricts them to being able to see into the life of one person per night, and since their sight is imperfect, they are unable to discern the identity of Lilith.
Angel
The Angel is a divine being in human form, and has the ability to protect one other person from harm every night. They are, however, unable to protect themself.
Witch
The Witch is, for most purposes, a normal citizen. Their main distinguishing factor is the Potion of Resurrection: every night, the Witch will be informed of who is to die in the morning, and they may choose to use the Resurrection Potion to revive that person. The Witch may only do this once, however, so it's not a power to be squandered. The Witch is also unable to use to Potion on themself; however, if the Witch dies before the Potion is used, the Potion will be given to one random player, though this player may not necessarily be an innocent citizen.
Nymph (Secret Role)
The details of this role will only be told to the player who receives it, and will only be revealed when the player holding this role is either killed, inspected by the Seer Ascendant, or the game is finished; whichever comes first.
Vigilante
The Vigilante is a normal citizen by day, and a bloodthirsty psychopath by night. Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but each night the Vigilante has the option to kill one player of their choice. They have no more knowledge than a regular citizen about the roles of others, so their choice might not always be the right one, despite their good intentions.
Elves
The Elves are average citizens of Haven. They have no special abilities, and simply have to band together in an attempt to weed out the Hellspawn. They may deliberate during the day and choose to burn one player. During the night, they remain in their homes, blissfully and dangerously unaware of the goings on around them.

Hellspawn

Lilith
The leader of the Hellspawn. Lilith is a powerful demon in charge of rallying the other Hellspawn to carry out each nightly murder. When inspected by the Seer Ascendant, she appears as a normal citizen of Haven.
Silencer
The Silencer is a powerful demon with the ability to block the ability of one other player each night. If blocked, the player will be unsuccessful in carrying out their night action. If the Silencer blocks a normal Elf, nothing occurs.
Yaksha (Secret Role)
The details of this role will only be told to the player who receives it, and will only be revealed when the player holding this role is either killed, inspected by the Seer Ascendant, or the game is finished; whichever comes first.
Oni
A basic form of Hellspawn. While Oni come in many shapes and sizes, the only power they hold beyond that of a normal citizen of Haven is that of the kill vote each night. They send in their kill vote to Lilith, and their ultimate goal is to wipe out all of Haven's citizens and other unaffiliated players.

Unaffiliated

Mogwai
The Mogwai is a demon with a need to do harm to others. Each night they must murder someone, without regard for their role. If they are roleblocked by the Silencer, then that night they will commit suicide. The Mogwai achieves victory by being the only player left standing.
Siren
The Siren appears as a normal citizen of Haven, and will appear as such if investigated by the Seer Ascendant, but carries their own agenda. They have the ability to charm one player every night, regardless of their alignment, and begin building up their own faction. Once charmed, a player loses their affiliation with their previous faction and the Siren takes over whatever night action the charmed individual may have possessed. The Siren achieves victory by charming all surviving players. If killed, any charmed individuals are returned to their original factions with control over their night actions restored.
Lovers
The Lovers are two players bound together through the game. They may not necessarily belong to the same faction, but they are aware of each other's roles from the very beginning. If one Lover dies, the other will immediately follow them into the dark. If the Lovers belong to differing factions, they may still achieve victory by being the last two players standing.
