"I'm the older, aura sensitive sister~!"
"And I'm the younger sister who believes in the power of love~!"
"Morning sleepyhead~!" Mary's cheery voice greeted, approaching Reanne as she exited her hotel. Rose visibly untensed a bit, taking a deep breath in relief at the sight of Reanne.
"Hey Reanne. Are you alright? I felt really bad about you sleeping alone like that." Rose greeted, a light smile gracing her face.
"We got you some stuff from the booths!" Mary went on to explain, holding up an arm full of stuff(TM) just waiting to be inspected.
"We also picked up some breakfast~ Blueberry, banana and chocolate!" Mary announced, holding up a couple of muffins and what appeared to be oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, offering them all to Reanne. They came accompanied by a bottle of what appeared to be orange juice. Still somewhat cold! Rose produced a map, an electronic card of some sort and a stamp accompanied by a somehow weird looking ink. She'd gotten enough for all of them.
"...Rose was having trouble sleeping, so we got up early." Mary finished explaining. A quick examination of Rose revealed that although she'd did her best to pretty herself up and hide her exhaustion, careful observation of her face and general quietness revealed that she was pretty out of it.
-----------------------------Earlier-----------------------------
...Rose had never felt less like a human being.
"It's amazing to think all of these people are here to find someone to spend their life with." Mary softly mused aloud from nearby, one hand in Rose's at the other's insistence.
"...Yeah." Rose replied without any heart behind it. She didn't have the strength to correct Mary. She felt nauseous. Everywhere she looked, she saw desire. A terrible desire completely distinct from the hotel's namesake. She knew what love looked like. But this--This was just gross. She passed glares at those who dared look at either of them with those feelings in their hearts, sharp and hateful in response to their unwanted attention. Most of them didn't even understand what they'd done.
...The two sisters shared a bed that night, but only one of them slept in it. Rose was up at the devil's hour, listening to people walk by their room and staring at the door like a hawk. Every time she tried to lay down and rest, she wound up getting upset and being unable to sleep. She hated being here, and somehow she felt most comfortable standing guard. Perfectly silent, she pondered what she would do if anyone actually tried to creep through their door. ...It was locked. She wasn't sure what she was expecting, and nothing ever came of it. The morning came, and with it Rose's strength had waned. She felt sore and sluggish. Her nauseousness was now coming from unrest, rather than disgust. She wasn't sure how she was going to get through the day, but it was too late to look for someplace else to sleep. Mary stirred next to her, sitting up and brushing some hair from her face.
"--Morning, Rose~?" Mary greeted.
"Murnning." Rose murmured in response, slurring her speech a bit. She hadn't been fully awake. Catching onto this, Mary examined Rose for a moment.
" . . . Did you ever get to bed??" she asked, slipping out of bed to change out of her pajamas.
Rose deigned not to answer. As much as she knew Mary cared about her, these weren't feelings she wanted to share. How could anyone else understand? They didn't see the world the way she did--Mary least of all.
----------------------End of Flashback----------------------
"I hope you're going to be okay! It'd really stink if you got sick on the first day of the contest." Mary gently remarked, attempting to get some energy out of Rose. Rose looked up and offered a weak smile.
"I'll be alright... I feel a little more awake now that I've gotten up and started moving." she replied, though one could still detect the weakness in her body language. The way she held herself, the hints of exhaustion in her face. She did a good job of pretending to be okay, at least.
"How are you feeling, Reanne? Are you going to be ready to head out and go on an adventure once we finish eating~?" Mary asked, her eyes lighting up with delight at the prospect. She hesitated for a moment, seeming to consider someone missing.
"--Is Nathan still around?" she asked.
