Pokémon Gaming Central For topics that aren't necessarily restricted to one game, Pokémon Gaming Central ranges from comparing and contrasting the differences in the gaming generations to discussing the gaming franchise as a whole.

Pokémon Generational Guidelines
Trainer Tips - Be sure to read these before posting in our generational forums!

Hello and welcome to the guidelines and rules for our generational forums. This includes Sixth Gen, Fifth Gen, Fourth Gen, Third Gen, Second Gen, First Gen and Pokémon Gaming Central. That's a lot of places! But know that once you've read through these, you're good to post in all of those as long as your posts meet the rules. Let's get started, it won't take long!

PC's Global Rules Apply!
Common sense, right? You can check up on the rules for yourself by clicking here!

This isn't the place to discuss ROMs or fan games!
These sections are all for official Pokémon titles, not fan ones. If you want to discuss a ROM Hack or a fan game, check out their appropriate threads by using the search function.

Need Game Help?
When you're making a thread asking for help in the Pokémon games, please use the Game Help Category so people can easily see you're looking for help! If your question is about one game specifically, then please use the appropriate forum for that (for example a question about Hoenn's Battle Frontier would belong in Third Generation). Also, if you have any further questions relevant to your previous question, please use your old thread instead of making a new one.

Sometimes a section will also have a stickied thread for Game Help, such as Fourth Generation. If it does, please use that instead of making a new thread! Team Help threads are acceptable in every section, however.

It is also important to use our categories at all times however. For example, if you're posting in Fourth Gen and you wanted to make a topic about HeartGold specifically, you'd use our HG/SS prefix to specify this is what the topic is about!

"Let's Play" type threads are allowed!
The generational forums have been subject to a rules change and we now allow you to post videos of your playthroughs! Please read through the following rules before you do so, though.
  • You must have 25+ posts to create an LP thread. This is to prevent users from joining exclusively for the sake of advertising. If you have less than 25 posts or if a moderator determines that you've been making spammy posts for the sake of meeting the restriction, your LP thread will be closed.
  • Post your LPs in the appropriate section - Main Series games in the corresponding forum, spinoffs or miscellaneous games in Pokémon Gaming Central.
  • Create no more than one thread per playthrough. Excessive threads will be merged or deleted. You can bump your old thread if you have an update rather than making a new one.
  • Threads should include some minimum of discussion or writing. Interacting with the community by asking for feedback or suggestions is a great way of doing this. We're not asking for a lot, but please don't just dump your videos then leave.

Please don't give out cheat codes!
PC will not be responsible for the potential harm of a user's game. It is fine to discuss these methods, provided that you don't guide users on how to go about using them.

Mini-modding.
Leave the modding to the moderators! If you see someone breaking the rules in any of these sections, please use the report button (it will usually look like a warning sign and can be found in the top right corner of a post you want to report) and a moderator will handle it. Never step in and try to handle it yourself. Sometimes members have inadvertently given the wrong advice to a member about the rules, which can lead to more work for the moderator. The report button is helpful enough.

Pokémon Gaming Central's One Exception:

The fine line between Pokémon General and Pokémon Gaming Central.
We know how confusing this can be, so allow us to explain. PGC deals with in-game specifics that do not branch out across the entire franchise. Pokémon General can include the games, anime, manga, TCG, collectively, while PGC just remains within the games themselves. Please note that there are anime, manga, and TCG forums on PC. By "collectively," we mean comparisons or discussions of Pokémon in its overall aspects, not just one area specifically.

Some helpful examples:
Spoiler:
  • If you were to post a thread comparing two or more Pokémon, it belongs in Pokémon General.
  • If you are comparing/asking opinions that cover more than just the games, it belongs in Pokémon General.
  • If you are posting a thread asking about favorite Flying types, legendaries, etc, it belongs in Pokémon General.
  • Theories about the Pokémon world that expand beyond the game (anime, manga, the general world, etc.) belongs in Pokémon General.
  • Merchandise (plushies, figures, etc.) belongs in Pokémon General.
  • If the thread is about, say, your favourite rival, then it's referring to the games and hence belongs in PGC.
  • 'Coolest/Most annoying Pokemon cry'? PGC, as it's referring to the sounds made in the games.
  • 'Hardest Pokemon game' would be PGC, because it's encompassing all of the games.
  • 'Favourite Gym Leader theme?' would be PGC, as it is not specific to one game but all the Gym Leaders across all generations
  • 'Favourite Pokemon abilities' is also PGC because it's referring to abilities in the games.

Have fun discussing Pokémon!
Now that you've read the rules, go discuss and create some of your own topics!

And if you need help from a staff member...
