[Question] Is only RPGMaker XP compatible with Essentials?

I see all versions of RPGMaker are currently on sale on Steam - XP is the version I would need to use Pokemon Essentials, correct? Or are any other versions compatible?

It works only with RPG Maker XP. It has always been.

Each of the RPG Maker versions are their own programs each with their own default (hidden) codebase that they use, as well as a ton of default code that the user has access to. Essentials was built using RPG Maker XP, thus it can only be used with XP.
