Loved R/S/E music out of all the videogame soundtracks. I liked Mt. Pyre, Verdanturf Town, etc.

Music can really enhance a game doesn't it? I mean look at some of the older games and years later people will tell you that what will stand out is sometimes the music part! *Ahem*

Overall Ambiance (Generation 3)- So what I mean by overall ambiance is the actual journey. The grassy plains, the cycle music, the cities and towns everything that you could hear out of that tiny speaker seemed to of fit very well with the mood of the location that you were adventuring through. The one that stands out to me is the soft piano works of Verdanturf Town, and the sharp and exciting Slateport City music! In fact I can still close my eyes and hear it.

Leader Battle (Generation 6)- Grand Duchess Diantha (Pokémon X & Y) Not sure why but I was not expecting this kind of intensity of music for the battle. To me it just stuck around.

Most memorable (Generation 1) - I do feel bad for again posting something from the older era... But the simple magic of the battle theme from the R/B/Y days sends shivers down to my spine to this day, and for some reason gets me super pumped for whatever I am about to do.

Other one would have to be the Poke Casino from that same gen. So 8 bitty exciting right???

So while I agree in an overall sense Generation 3 has some strong ground to stand on, you can't help but give a nod to the other generations mentioned above for something we can remember for a long time.

I'll agree with Gen 3 for now, but I will come back to this thread once I play D/P/Pt, B/W and B2/W2

I'd say Gen 4, I love a lot of the soundtracks from both DPPt and HGSS, especially Cynthia's and Cyrus' themes from the Sinnoh games. Gen 3 comes in as a close second for me though.

It's a hard contest between Gens 3 and 4, but I think Gen 3 comes on top.

You have the great RSE soundtrack (Routes 113, 119 and 120, vs Maxie/Archie, Elite Four theme, Frontier Brain theme, and the beautiful ending theme) plus some great FRLG tunes (Gym Leader theme, Champion theme, Route 42/Sevault Canyon) and last but not least the incredible Colosseum/XD soundtracks!

Hi, I'm back. I haven't played any of the games above but I've been listening to Gen 5 ost lately, and I disagree with the title, Gen 5 has a better ost

Wow, this is an awful topic title. How anyone can stand Gen III's truly diabolical soundfont is beyond my ability to comprehend. Literally all it's good for is memes and, occasionally, classical music renditions...which Gen 4 still does better. Much, much better.

Anyways, I'd say Gen 4 probably has the most memorable tracks - Cynthia's two themes, I rest my case - but I am very fond of the Gen I/II's soundtrack and soundfont, but that's mostly nostalgia talking. These are the themes that I still hum under my breath without realising I'm doing it on a regular basis and I'm very fond of them.

Gen 3 isn't bad Petalburg City is a happy track and is super nostalgic for me, but I think Gen 5 had so many deep cuts, that it's hard to argue its greatness. It's my favorite gen to listen to. I mean come on, Driftveil City? That is one of the most fire tracks from the franchise.

omg thank you for this gem. i am loving this beethoven pokemusic.

as for my answer to the OP..... i think all the gen 5 memes about gen 5 music hits hard gives me a bias towards it.

Yeah for me I'm gonna have to go with Gen 3 as well ahaha (no surprises there), the music is super nostalgic to me, and I actually do genuinely think it has some of the best tracks objectively in the series. The route and city music is so good, and nothing can take my back to my childhood like listening to them. Also, Gen 5 has a great soundtrack, but I'm gonna throw a controversial one out there with Gen 6, Laverre City is a personal highlight! :)

Maybe it's nostalgia talking, but I actually think Sapphire had the best music. Not Ruby or Emerald, just Sapphire. The flooding music is scary, but cool.

Am I the only one out there who just mutes the game most of the time? Lol I hear about "rocking their ass off to that E4 theme" but in a game with LITERALLY no voices ever, I don't always see any need fot sound lol.

I'd be more akin to muting a game if it had voices lmao. Imo that's more annoying to sit through than just good music blasting in the background.
