Jefferey Miles

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: Jeff looks like your typical book worm in a way: pale and thin. However, despite his nonathletic build he has the broad shoulders of a man far beyond his physical capabilities and girth. He is almost exactly 6 feet with once-upon-a-time golden hair that is now dirty blond from all the time he spent inside reading and sharp green eyes. He has a very average nose, perfect teeth, very few freckles dusting either cheek. All-in-all he's handsome in a way that's a little too boyish for his own liking

Jeff isn't too picky as far as regular clothes go, whatever's comfortable, but his favorite clothes are a pair of dark grey cargo jeans, a thick dark green hoodie over a white T-shirt with a large paw print on it. The jacket is usually unzipped. He also likes to wear a silver necklace with a small platinum rose that usually rests just under his shirt collar.

Personality: Jeff is a very nice person, always willing to see the best in people and not being very judgmental as long as the person in question wasn't bothering anyone but can be quite harsh when he gets defensive of someone else. He has a very good vocabulary that is mostly self taught from all the reading and can be a skilled and eloquent speaker when he wants to but is easily flustered by the right situations. Jeff tries to avoid situations where he would have any authority over other people because he's not very good at 'tough love'.

Above all else Jeff loves pokemon, he sees them as the creatures that run the world much more than people and abhors any sort of mistreatment directed at one. The only reason he approves of pokemon battles is because most of the time they can be fun for the pokemon and they fight in the wild anyways. Jeff is naturally playfully sarcastic and it shows. He doesn't like to cause problems and as a result is much more civil around strangers. His snarky attitude becomes more prevalent the more familiar he is with someone. Partly as a result of his stories and partly just from his nature Jeff puts an almost zealous value on friendship and has very grandiose, sometimes naive ideas about friendship and romance.

Jeff absolutely LOVES eating and cooking, especially when it comes to cheese and has very sensitive taste buds and a strong nose. The only reason the boy is because he's got such a high metabolism.Jeff likes to cook for other people, having many a cheesy dish waiting to greet his parents when they get home from work. He loves being cooked for just as much and is easily swayed by a good meal.

Background: Jeff has had a fairly boring life if you don't count the adventures he's had in his own mind as he read books and watched movies. He had the bad luck of having parents who wanted a safe life for their child, the most dangerous thing they were willing to let him do was play sports...and not even football. To make matters worse Jeff wasn't interested in sports so short of when he was a little kid just running around with the other kids he didn't have a lot to do. Eventually Jeff stopped insisting books were for 'old people' and began to read, both saving his sanity and feeding his imagination. His parents may not have wanted him to have a pokemon but reading about them was different, so he read all sorts of pokemon books ranging from facts to fantasies to true stories about the most influential trainers shaping the world.

When Jeff hit 10 money started getting tight for his family so his mom had to forego staying at home in favor of being able to afford to keep it. To help out he took advantage of his cooking talents to have fresh food usually waiting for his parents when they got home. The first truly eventful thing to happen in Jeff's life all started when he asked his dad one day after getting home from work how the dinner he'd prepared was, prompting his father to ask if he was sure he hadn't gotten hungry and eaten it himself.

The strange phenomena of vanishing food continued in the Miles household until the day Jeff heard the plate he had put his mother's dinner on clatter to the ground. By the time he made it into the kitchen there was just an empty plate with a bite taken out of it next to a trail of condiments on the floor leading out to the garage his parents never closed the door of, making it obvious what the culprit was: a hungry pokemon. The next day Jeff rigged up a pretty sloppy snare, figuring he was wasting his time and the pokemon wouldn't keep stealing from people who knew it was coming, little did he know how impossible it was for the 'criminal' to resist its hunger. About an hour before his mother was due home that day Jeff heard a loud crash and ran into the kitchen staring up at where he knew the food thief would be if his trap worked. The snare had worked...but it had also snapped at the weight of the culprit, and when Jeff looked down what he saw surprise him. There on his kitchen floor, face flat, was what appeared to be a small, trashcan-reminiscent creature that lifted it's head to reveal a round face and uttered one single sound, a bright happy "Munch!" Before it's eyes focused on Jeff's necklace and it snapped it up like a fish, it took 7 minutes of wrestling to get the ornament from the pokemon, but Jeff didn't bother being angry because he was sure the Munchlax would just get away like last time, it wasn't nearly as slow as one would expect.

Jeff didn't know how to deal with the little Munchlax...it was too clueless not to come back if he sent it away and he couldn't stand the thought of hurting a pokemon so obviously the most logical conclusion was to keep it and continue to feed it. Predictably Jeff's parents did not share his sentiment, but he was done being agreeable, he hadn't complained about not being allowed to become a trainer for a long time but he'd be damned if they wouldn't even let him have a pokemon as a pet. Life actually went back to being normal and uneventful for a while, at least until Jeff's seventeenth birthday, when he declared he was going on a journey whether his parents liked it or not, even if he had to get a job just to buy a pokeball for Romanov. This time Jeff's parents didn't argue, not only because they felt he was old enough to take care of himself, but also because they were all too happy to get the greedy sentient garbage disposal unit out of their house. As Jeff got farther away from his childhood home and the waving silhouettes of his parents faded away he realized something...he had no idea where to start. Luckily a kindly old neighbor noticed Jeff had his backpack on and asked if he was on his way to see the 'fancy professor lady' who was presently visiting Mauville. Not wanting to look like as much of an idiot as he felt Jeff quickly said that was exactly what he was off to do, and continued walking, whistling a jovial tune to himself the rest of way and lovingly patting the new pokeball on his belt.

Starter Pokémon: Romanov

the very Munchlax that burgled Jeff's lovingly cooked meals when he was younger. Romanov is not lazy like most 'Laxes', although he's just as hungry. In fact, Romanov loves running around and interacting with other creatures, he mostly only sleeps when Jeff does. Romanov is intelligent deep down, but he's oblivious and his attention wanders easily. Romanov got his name from how much he reminded Jeff of bears rooting through people's homes for food in lands with no pokemon, and from which of the mythical countries could train bears to be lifelong friends and guardians just like pokemon.

WANTED: Beware the Holy... Con-Artist?
Name: Serene Linge ♊
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Birth town: Lavender

Appearance
: Serene is about 5'8, weighing about 110 pounds, probably from her love of sweets, but it doesn't really bother her too much. Not until someone else mentions it anyway. She has light skin, along with five slim fingers with each hand, and five slim toes in each foot. Her nose is not really that bulby, her ears are not that big, and her complemented blue eyes are not really that wide or skinny. All in all, her classic features are really not all that interesting. Serene's hair is dyed light-blue, tied as a long pig tail, reaching her mid-back. Rarely when it's not in a pig-tail, her hair sticks out all the way to her shoulders.

Her outfit resembles a church priest's outfit, naturally represents her participation at her local holy ground. On her upper body, she wears a white cotton sweater with black sleeves, with a white dress over that sweater, that has grey and black lace, all complete with a black bow. On her lower body, she wears a white, cotton-laced dress with black lining. On her lower body, she has a long white skirt that reaches to near the top of her foot. For foot wear, she wears black socks, and white heel-boots with black laces. Finally, for jewelry, she wears a ruby pearl necklace, with a diamond jewel, hanging near her bow-tie.

Strengths
: Serene is pretty much a polite young-lady with a soft-hearted way of speaking. She's pretty caring, gentle, and friendly around the people she meets. She shows great compassion in creating and maintaining a kind relationship with anyone she meets, and has yet to fail in doing so. Almost always being shown with a smile on her face. Whenever a friend is in need, she is always open to help in any way she can no matter the situation. In general, she is always concerned for the well being of others. She also dislikes seeing others unhappy, and is always up to cheering the individual up. People around Serene acknowledge all of these characteristics, and she is popular among the people in the church she works in. She is even able to befriend individuals who are often viewed upon as annoying or disliked among many.

Weaknesses: However, as you get to know Serene better, despite her light-hearted attitude, sometimes Serene is rather enigmatic. She is also sarcastic and witty, unintentionally even to the point of cruelty. Serene has a snide, sarcastic response to even the most serious subjects, and loves to tease the companions she befriended. However, Serene's sarcastic and harsh words are often well-founded, so she only uses them to express her disapproving opinions.

More so, Serene is incredibly greedy. Especially when it comes to money and jewels. One might even call her a "thief", or at least, she has the mind of a thief. Whenever there would be a showcase about a super rare, super expensive jewel? She'll be right there, eye-boggling the jewel, perhaps even drooling as she daydreams about if she had that jewel, she'd be rich. However, one can argue that her greed is justified - some of the money she gets goes to the church for collection. Then again, she uses the majority of her money to buy food, obviously from her love of eating and pigging out. If someone were to call her out on her greed, she would often reply, "This is a present from the heavens!"

Backstory: Serene was born in the small town of Lavender, where the old Pokemon Tower graveyard is. She was raised by her grandmother, since her parents were often overseas for work. She didn't really mind not seeing her parents all that much, though; since her grandmother was lovingly enough to keep her happy throughout her childhood. She, along with a few childhood friends, often played with the ghost-pokemon that liked to linger outside the tower, in the nearby park outside the town. From this, she was often around pokemon, and loved every moment with them.

As she grew older, the director of the Pokemon society manged to help build a small haven for people and pokemon who wish to pay respect to their dear passed away pokemon, or for those who wish to plead to serve the heavens. Thus, Serene decided to volunteer for the haven. The problem was that the haven was severely underfunded, due to a debt. If the debt was not paid, the haven would be torn down. So, Serene decided to help pay for the debt by collecting as much money as she could.

She did many jobs in her time, as well as sometimes asking for collection from people in the church, resulting in large heaps of money for her and the church. However, due to the large amount of money.. she began to be a little corrupted from it, and started to take a bit of money for herself for food. Of course, she knew it was okay, since some of the money would still go to the church anyway, and so, this would not classify as a 'sin'.

Goals and Interests: From her love of money, she soon wanted to travel the world, gathering as much jewels and money as she could, as well as gorging herself with exotic food. She then learned all about pokemon trainers, going from land to land, collecting partner pokemon and competing in pokemon battles for prize money. So, to finally help pay the debt (as well as get more jewels), she decided that someday, for the love of the church (and herself), she would become a veteran pokemon trainer.

Rusturf Tunnel
t6UuvnS.jpg

As with much of the Hoenn Region, Rusturf Tunnel has changed quite a bit over the years. Instead of the straight shot cavern that it used to be, it has been expanded into a series of various tunnels and passages for mining purposes. It can be quite easy to get lost within the cave's long and winding paths, and the rocky terrain certainly doesn't make walking around easier.

For all of its problems, the Tunnel has become quite popular with Rock Pokemon enthusiasts and explorers in general, as there have been rumors that some have found the fossilized remains of ancient pokemon within Rusturf Tunnel's walls. It is also a popular place for Hiking Trainers to both train themselves and their pokemon, as the difficult terrain provides a challenge for both.

The cave's selection of pokemon does no favors for aspiring trainers, as it leads directly to Verdanturf Town, the home of Poppy, the region's grass-type gym leader.

Missions

You can choose out of any of the missions below. Be sure to claim missions in the OOC thread to let me and the other players know which one you are doing. You may joint post or collaborate on these missions with other players, but two players may not write for a single mission separately, unless it is a repeatable quest. Also, know that you aren't limited to just these missions. You can make posts catching pok?mon, battling a trainer or exploring the route for yourself. I purposefully made fewer missions than there are players because I'd like for you guys to have some fun with this and not be restrained by these things. The missions are only here to serve as a plot point for you to write off of :3

Mission 1: A group of construction workers are blasting their way into finishing a new tunnel. Problem is, they've run into a rather large colony of Whismur. Now it's a battle for the colony's home vs. the progression of the tunnel. It's up to you to decide on which side you take. Reward - 5,000 P (Workers) or Choice of Evolutionary Stone (Whismur)

Mission 2: Near the front of the tunnel, a rather crazed looking man runs up to you with an offer of adventure and excitement in exchange for your protection from the cave's wild pokemon. Who is this man? Why it's the Fossil Maniac of course. Join him on a journey into the caverns of Rusturf Tunnel to find the fossils that he so loves. Reward - Choice of Fossil

Mission 3: Little Joey was dared by his friends to journey to the other side of the tunnel by himself. Unfortunately for him, he came with no pokemon... or map. This calls for a trainer's assistance. Reward - 2 Great Balls + 2 Potions

Mission 4: The former Sinnoh gym leader, Roark, has journeyed to Rusturf Tunnel for some research on the cave environment's recent expansion. If you talk to him and impress him, he may have a gift for you. Limited to 1 Character Reward - Larvitar

Mission 5:
Deep within the tunnel there have been a series of unnatural rumblings. Rumor has it that a pokemon, not normally found in the tunnel has taken up residence in the cave's lowest caverns. Whatever it is... it sounds big. Limited to 2 Characters Reward - Onix or TM Stone Edge

Mission 6: Star pupil of the trainer school, Alyssa Hawkins, is usually upbeat and raring to go. However, you stumble across her in a hidden tunnel talking anxiously to a mysterious figure. When you approach, the figure is nowhere to be seen. When questioned, she feigns ignorance and instead challenges you to a friendly battle and she's not taking no for an answer. (check OP for team details) Limited to 2 Characters Reward - 500 P (Win) or Ultra Ball + TM Dragon Pulse (Lose)
