Hero donation. Daily charity quota checked.

Name: Farah Merci
Cape Alias: Seraph
Age: 19
Sex: F
Alignment (Hero/Villain/Rogue): Hero
Appearance:
Spoiler:

Farah is a beautiful lady of French-Arabic descent and sharp features, with long dark locks neatly tied up in a ponytail and an aquiline nose matching a pair of hazel eyes that penetrate through people (and her signature cat eye glasses) like laser beams. She dresses modestly, usually formal or casual formal, with a tendency to colour code.

Personality: Seraph is a no-nonsense hero with a strict conscience and a stickler for detail. Perfectionistic, she fixates easily onto a singular idea or subject and will not pull away until she is satisfactorily finished with it. She demands order in her life, performing everything by routine and will be thrown off-guard should something or someone cause her to deviate from what's routine and familiar. She dislikes working with messy and sloppy heroes, and is never shy to speak out on her thoughts of other heroes in the Protectorate. She's poor with social cues, even simple concepts such as taking turns to talk and detecting sarcasm. Due to her trigger event, she has a phobia of darkness but is slowly learning how to overcome it (she still needs to sleep with a night light however).

Power(s): Seraph is a Tinker who utilises hard light constructs. She pilots a mech suit codenamed Aeria Gloris. In Aeria mode, she creates angelic wings out of hard light, allowing her to soar through the skies. Her wings are also armaments, being able to fire volleys of photokinetic feather-shaped shards. In Gloris mode, her mech suit generates a photon barrier that's as durable as steel. Aeria Gloris thus allows her to swoop through battle-raged skies and rescue victims, airlifting them safely out of harm. She appears to be very intimidating, but in actuality, very motherly and acts way way older than her age, which often causes older Protectorate members to feel uncomfortable working with her.

History and Trigger Event:
Supposed to participate in the city's Annual Science Fair, but was kidnapped by a rogue cape as part of another science student's scheme to eliminate the competition, causing her to trigger. She managed to be found and rescued by the Wards, but not before she had beaten the rogue cape unconscious with a flashlight that emitted a beam of hard light.

After she triggered, she joined the Wards (She didn't really have a choice in any way given that they knew her real identity and wanted to make sure she didn't turn to the dark side) which she felt was likely the best decision she ever made in her life. They discovered her Tinker gifts and she was given as much support the organisation could offer in learning and refining her gifts, contributing many innovations to the Protectorate. Farah was inspired to be a part of the PRT so that no other child would have to feel the way she did—chaos.

"I will reconstruct a new reality."

Damian Edgeworth AKA Mephisto
Anime-Character-Concept-Art-Ezerin-character-concept-129506.jpg

Name: Damian Edgeworth

Cape Alias: Mephisto

Age: 17

Sex: Male

Alignment (Hero/Villain/Rogue): Villian

Appearance: Damian's eyes are a bright green color, contrasting with his beautiful fluffy hair, which is an almost unnatural shade of red. He stands at about 5'2'' and weighs about 125lbs. He typically wears jeans, although he sometimes wears other types of pants, and almost always has on the same worn red sweatshirt. While "in costume" he simply throws a stolen police vest on under his sweatshirt and dons a black fox-demon mask with a red pattern painted on it. His small, thin build isn't really suited for fighting, so he usually sticks to criminal activities in which making deals and double-crossing people are the name of the game. He also attaches a fake costume tail the same color as his hair.
Spoiler:

Personality: Tricky and sly like a fox, Damian uses his cunning creativity to better himself and take from others. Life's been cruel to him, and he makes sure that it never gets the chance to hurt him again. The closest thing he has to a friend is his older brother, who is the only person he refuses to double-cross. He has a strange fascination with the way people think, and how he can exploit it for his own gain. He's not all bad though. Some of his interests are reptiles, especially snakes, as well as foxes, swimming, and camping. When he's not plotting his next scheme you could probably find him writing his autobiography, which he plans on publishing once he becomes as infamous as other big cape criminals.

Power(s): Deal-making: Damian can trade anything for anything else, as long as both people in possession of said things agree and shake his hands. The things traded could be anything, from memories, skills, age, or even powers. He is classified as a Striker and a Trump.

History and Trigger Event: Damian lived with his parents and older brother Edan when he was little, unable to recall a time before they had moved to Fallcliff. Their family wasn't dysfunctional, but they were hardly perfect. He was extremely close to his brother, pulled into a life of crime by him, and pushed away his parents after their attempts to put him back on the right path. He insisted that they were strong enough to handle the gang wars, and that the only way to get anywhere in life was to take from others. His attitude only seemed to drive them further away, until the attack that triggered his and his brother's powers. A rival gang set fire to their house while they were sleeping. Edan was able to find Damian, who had panicked and was curled up on the floor sobbing. At some point carrying Damian through the burning house he triggered, and so did Damian. Their parents were left seriously injured, in a comatose state at the hospital, and the two brothers moved on with their lives, as hard as it was, and slowly recovered from the experience.

*raises hand* I have a question!

This may have already been answered in the thread already, but I've just skimmed through really fast so I probably missed it. Anyways, how long will SU's be open for?
I love the concept and everything that's been going on so far, but I still need to figure out if I can free up enough time to commit and not disappear on y'all.

Have some villains while I flesh out Babylon more:

The Curators

A group of art and bank thieves who specialize in using their powers to make quick entrances and get-aways. Their targets are primarily museums, art galleries, private houses, and banks, always targeting the highest value items. It appears at least one of their members is in the art community themselves, based on the targets selected.

Identity information:
Spoiler:

Fiendfire || Everett Hannes

  • 26 year old Caucasian male: blonde hair, tall, handsome features. Very handsome.
  • The leader of the group, usually calling the shots and corralling hostages/dealing with other capes.
  • Triggered in a house fire he was trapped in.
  • Power is "Living Fire": able to turn the entirety of his body into fire, that he controls the spread of. He's able to reform himself from an equal amount of fire he initially fed into the inferno, no worse for wear.
  • Able to reform from any fire he started. He appears to be missing a finger since he keeps part of himself in a lantern inside the store, for worst case scenarios. He can come back from "death", but is drained for a long time.
  • Big on villain nobility, never intentionally harming civilians or causing too much collateral damage.
  • Polite and well spoken out of costume, a hunched over raging beast in costume.
  • Costume is a crimson suit with a full head demon mask. This clothing is a manifestation of his fire, and carries between bodies.
  • Mover/Breaker/Blaster(?)

Blink || Jie Yaling
  • 24 year old Asian woman: short, soft features, very thin, long hair.
  • Infiltrator and escape artist of the group.
  • Triggered by tripping in front of a subway train.
  • Power is "Anchored Dimension": Able to pull her and anything she touches into a stable pocket dimension of her creation. This dimension acts as the group's hideout and get away.
  • Able to pop in and out of the pocket dimension within 100 yards of the central point she created. She can "anchor" to one of five points of her creation, that the pocket dimension "hovers" over. Living beings inside of the dimension when it moves anchor points are nauseated by the shift.
  • Daughter of a famous artist, looking to reclaim her father's art. She acts a bit like a ditsy waitress outside of the costume. A smart mouthed teleport-spamming harasser inside the costume.
  • Costume is a technicolor mess of colors and clothing articles. She carries a small pistol for protection.
  • Mover

Draw-Distance || Marcus Octavio
  • 25 year old Hispanic Male: rough features, thick beard, tall, buzzed hair
  • Mission control, helps Fiendfire keep a handle on the situation
  • Triggered by the death of his father in a gang shooting
  • Power is "Ghost Precognition": Able to see a "ghost" of events a minute before they happen in real time. Helps keep control of the group during the fight. Also warns the group when it's time to bail on a mission, alerting Blink to pick the members up.
  • Carries a revolver and shotgun to help round up civilians and minor self defense.
  • A chatterbox outside of the costume, and the friendly barista. Mostly silent and serious in costume.
  • Costume is a classic "bandito" look, with a bandanna covering most of his facial features.
  • Thinker

Sketchbook || Susanna Adela
  • 25 year old Caucasian woman: tall, boyish features, slender, brunette
  • The "brains" of the group, creates the tools of the group
  • Triggered by bullying in high school
  • Tinker specializing in drones with various purposes. They're used for sabotaging security systems, setting up security for the group, and cracking safes.
  • Most are stored in Blink's pocket dimension until they're needed, and she appears to pull them from thin air due to the speed of Blink's teleports.
  • Set up the group's communication system
  • Costume is a reinforced jacket and pants, with a welding helmet.
  • Tinker

Is this a player character or an NPC donation?

I have no real complaints although the random aesthetic fox tail probably shouldn't be there. Other than that, you're in so I'll list you as accepted.

:O
We haven't set a cap or anything on the number of players that can join and have no real plans to close it any time soon I don't think. We'll simply stop taking SUs once we feel like it's getting too big to handle or once it seems to late to be interjecting new characters.

Edit: Oddy is also accepted. We have well and truly enough players to get the IC up and running so expect that in the near future.

I've made the requested change(s), along with some minor tweaks to his history and alias to better fit his modified powers. I've also defined his powers a little better, rather than not at all.

The IC thread has been accepted, and accepted players can begin to post!

If you're interested in joining still, don't fear! We're keeping sign-ups open until we think the player count becomes too hard to handle. We're also asking people to refrain from making up NPC Protectorate heroes for the time being, so that players still have the possiblity to join that organization without the team getting overly filled up. Similar rules for the Wards, but we're allowing one or two NPCs to be added to that, for the moment.

If you're working on a character and haven't posted in this thread, I'd be really appreciated if you post here that you're working on a character, and what they're allegiance will be. If you don't know yet, that's something worth saying too.

Could you elaborate on each district of the city? Aside from they self explanatory ones, they all seem like they're just location markers.

SYNERGY

Eva Solborn // Aged 18 // Female // Hero / Ward // Synergy

Theme song:
Spoiler:

Appearance:
hmm

Personality:
She has one. And so does he.

Power(s):
Synergy's main power manifests as what is officially denoted "The Amorphous Entity". Eva usually calls him "Morph", or occasionally when he deserves it, "Blobby". Morph is just that, an amorphous entity, seemingly the same size and mass as Eva herself, but unlike her unbound by gravitational forces. He can freely traverse the world on the ground or through the air, and is powerful enough physically to carry Eva around in one way or another. The fluid body has a rubbery skin and is slightly transparent and tinted in some faint varying pastel color by default, often affected by Eva's emotions. Morph is referred to as a "he" by Eva simply because she felt strange calling him "it" or "she". He lacks any facial features and doesn't require any nutrition or energy intake to sustain him. Supposedly, his connection with Eva feeds him with energy.

Morph can take on any shape he desires - or rather, that Eva desires. She can force the amorphous entity to perform any action she chooses, like an extra limb. The nature of their connection is hard to classify or explain; it is as if Eva always knows what Morph is sensing, just as he always seems to know what she is thinking, and complies with her demands with zero delay, even if he seems to have a will of his own other times. The psychologist at PRT whom Eva is seeing, explains this "will of his own" as the entity manifesting suppressed thoughts from Eva in certain scenarios.

On top of shapeshifting, Eva can make Morph split up into several parts and control them independently. She can either split him up to have each part keep the same strength as the original entity, or make their strength split in half if Morph is halved and so on. In the former case, Eva experiences physical strain that increases with the number of splits and the duration of time. In the latter case, Eva isn't affected. If Morph is involuntarily shattered, the latter case applies. A punch from Morph will only be as strong as a punch from Eva would be. As such, she needs to keep her own body in good physical condition in order for Morph to be offensively useful.

Additionally, the naturally semi-transparent tinted appearance of the amorphous entity can change. If Eva comes into physical contact with an object, she can make Morph copy the object's texture, effectively giving him a skin made of anything else. Eva doesn't have to stay in contact with the object; as soon as it's features are copied, Morph can hold on to them for as long as he or she wishes. For example, Eva can keep a piece of metal on her and split Morph up into several projectiles before giving them a metallic skin to better penetrate a target she sends them at. After all, the entity's natural state is just... blob.

History and trigger event:
Eva Solborn is of Swedish/Mexican descent; her Swedish father moved to the US in his early twenties and her mother was born in Fallcliff. The daughter grew up a middle class area in Fallcliff, where her mother worked as a receptionist at a pharmacy. Her father worked up-cliff at a big corporation as a law consultant. Throughout her childhood, Eva was both fascinated and afraid of capes. Her mother encouraged her to stay away from them, claiming that they brought bad luck and chaos in their wake. She had come into contact with villains in the past and would prefer that her daughter didn't get involved at all. Eva's father, on the other hand, pitied them and tried to teach Eva to at least sympathize with the Protectorate and the good work they were doing. As Eva entered her teenage, this resulted in her harboring mixed feelings of admiration, resentment and jealousy for the Wards appearing on TV. She had never been special at anything. Both parents always encouraged her to appreciate life as a normal human being without the troubles revolving around the capes.

After recently having turned 17, and being in a particularly conflicted and moody period in life, things drastically changed. Eva and her father were in a car accident due to a landslide outside of town. Her father was killed instantly, but Eva sat alive in the car and watched how earth and boulders trapped her inside. Survival instincts kicked in and she tried to dig herself out through a broken window, to no avail. At the peak of panic, she screamed, and felt as if her mind split in halves. A big blob suddenly formed next to her and helped digging a hole until it could wrap itself around her hand and pull her out.

She was immediately identified as a parahuman by the PRT. It was also revealed to her that her father had been a cape for many years, a hero enlisted with the Protectorate. He had never participated in any fighting - his power was that of clairvoyance, being able to tell the current location of any other parahuman from a simple picture. Eva's mother was shocked by these revelations. In her grief and horror, she didn't allow Eva to come home, leaving her completely in the care of the Protectorate, who enlisted her as a Ward and gave her simple housing down-cliff to give her a chance to keep her identity as a cape secret.

A year later, she is still going to school, but wishing hard that it will be over soon so that she can be recognized as adult and control her own life. Hiding Morph was very difficult in the beginning - a big floating blob the same size as yourself following you around? Together with PRT professionals, she practiced her control over the entity and learned to disguise him or keep him far away enough to not be spotted. Which wasn't exactly easy to master, as Morph by default strives to be in her close proximity.

Ok, so back on Wednesday afternoon, I did make some changes to my character's appearance, personality, and history. One of the changes of course being why he is Italian, but has an English last name. Hopefully it will clear up any confusion.

Honestly, it's less to me the name origins as it is he's a guy with ice powers with icicle as his last name. It just seems to campy for a more grounded setting. The real issue though, is the personality section. All you've really told us is that he's a cold and calculating businessmen and that he's cool (no pun intended) with gay people (but straight). Both useful information points but some more detail about how he thinks and acts would be appreciated. Fix that up and he should be good to go.

Could you elaborate on each district of the city? Aside from they self explanatory ones, they all seem like they're just location markers.

Ben added some more details about the city in the additional information post. That might be helpful to you. If not, just get back to us and we'll help you out.

Great SU! Love the power. You're accepted, but I would like to know what city she's from, and when she moved to Fallcliff. I'm also curious where her sister's locked up. As an added note, there's no minimum age to becoming a ward, so you might want to omit that piece. If she was 11 when she triggered she would be allowed to join immediately, although maybe not every 11-year old would be up for that, haha.
Ah, okay, I'll make a little edit.

I plan to have it up by Sunday at the latest.

Spoiler:

Looks all good to me except for the classification. I'll see what Ben says since she could just be a shady rogue I guess, but she sounds more like a villain than a rogue to me.

Gonna makes some NPCs and list them here.
EDIT: I'll throw in some store names as well for a bit of continuity.

  • Gas station/Quick Mart: Gas 'n Go

FIRST ONE:
  • Name: Basil Stevenson AKA Florist
  • Age: 19
  • Sex: Male
  • Alignment: Villain
  • Appearance:
    Spoiler:
  • Trigger: Being abused and disowned by his family after coming out as gay.
  • Power: Plant manipulation. He can control (and rapidly grow) plants. He favors vines to strangle people with.
  • Personality in a quick nutshell: Quiet, Shy, Devoted to his work. Loyal to the Tungsten Brotherhood who took him in as his new family.
  • Costume:
    Spoiler:
  • Notes: Runs a small floristry in the poorer end of town. (I couldn't decide which district would be most fitting, but its more of a starting business run by a college student than a full blown shop. So poorer district where buying flowers would make sense.)

SECOND ONE:
  • Name: Lenora Copane AKA Lady Tungsten
  • Age: 27
  • Sex: Female
  • Alignment: Villain
  • Appearance:
    Spoiler:
  • Trigger: An accident with some machinery in a local mine caused her arm to have to be amputated.
  • Power: Heightened Intellect allows her to construct highly complex machinery.
  • Personality in a quick nutshell: Forward thinking, Perfectionist. Created the Tungsten Brotherhood out of a desire to accomplish more. Grew to find she enjoyed the company.
  • Costume: N/A
  • Notes: Rarely leaves the Tungsten Brotherhood Headquarters, has all of her business handled through her lackeys.

(I feel this is needed to avoid contradictory descriptions, and develop a better understanding, of the districts in Fallcliff) "the farms have settled further north" *looks at map* WHY IS IT UPSIDE DOWN?

Okay, I've tried but this map keeps bugging me so, I'm just gonna list what I think each district is known for based on their name and location. (assuming district implies that there's something that separates the area from the others) Scanning from left to right, bottom to top,

Coltif - Due to its placement and shape, I assume farmers live here
Verone - French?
Divided - Race War?
Sessle - General residence. (aka. I don't know)
Vacant - Abandoned and poor
Historical Heart - Museums and stuff (Curators nearby?)
Innocence - Lots of kids/very safe
Catany - General residence (again, idk)
University - Learning and intellectually focused (ugh, school)
Abandoned Industries - Vacant but with factories and high crime
Eastern European - (this general ethnicity)
Entertainment - Movies, amusement parks, sports, ect. (Fallcliff's Hollywood? idk never been there)
Indonesian - (this general ethnicity)
Industrial - Factories and stuff

New Rome - Rich People cause it's near Gov. and Service Districts
Service Industries - ( <- the definition)
Governmental - Political, some cape tension
Cultural - Very renaissance-like
Dutch-Indonesian - Lots of variety
New Moreton - English people?
New Germany - ...idk
The Queen's - ...idk
Hillside - Expensive property
Noveau Toulouse - uh... Rich and french
Main Station - Optional Info explains
The Pathway - Seems out of place and weird, as it just sort of ends, so I assume it's plot related.

I literally just threw this together using context clues, so if I got something wrong, (probably most of it) please tell me. (as it was kinda the point of all this)
