I have been writing a three part novelization of the first three sets of pokemon games (red blue yellow; gold silver crystal; ruby sapphire emerald).
The novelization is about the horribly real world of these pocket monsters and their behavoir with their trainers.
Part One: The Rise of a New Species focuses on Mewtwo's rise to power and the damage he causes.
Part Two: The Curse of Celebi focuses on Celebi, the time travelling monster who is possesed by the Unknown.
Part Three: The Judgement focuses on the biblical prediction of Behemoth Leviathan and Ziz coming together and wreaking the end of the world coming to life.
When I can, I'll post the prologue. Then when I have Part 1 done, I'll post that.

Prologue
Certain scientific theories state an existence of an ancient island untouched by humans and never seen by outside eyes; a lost world of gods we have never witnessed. Typically believed to be a foolish idea, expeditions were never scheduled to recover the island. Then, in the mid twentieth century it was found by Japanese sailors in the vast open waters of the Pacific. This greatly angered the Americans as they wished to find the island first. However, both American and Japanese scientists began scouring the island for as many fantastic creatures they could find. Doctor Samuel Oak came across several species and analyzed them. The results were astounding: not only were these creatures unseen by human eyes until now, but they all possessed a sort of ability which was often elemental. He also found that many of them boasted subspecies; the Raichu division of rodents had a subspecies named Pikachu. A few species had the females appear different than the males. Male Nidorans for instance are bright red, while the females are grey.
Before many people had realized, the island had become a new are for housing and development. This secluded the creatures in tiny forests and open fields, away from the humans. In came a new batch of scientists; the Research of Creature Kinfolk Extinction Team. They were fixated upon finding more than what was already discovered – those who had died out. Oak and his fellow researchers were pushed aside as ROCKET began tearing away at the island and possibly doing more harm than help. They never found much for thirty years… and thirty years passed.
It went all wrong. Not days after ROCKET researchers had recovered the fossilized remains of the extinct Mew had the cloning procedure begun. That is when the process went awry, that is when it went all wrong. Someone had made a miscalculation or error in the preparation. They did not end up with a clone, but a mutation of the original. A horrible, revenge bent creature with limitless abilities. It ruined the facility, and slaughtered the scientists, leaving a trail of bloodied bodies in its path. The creature disappeared, but the damage it wreaked did not.
Thankfully, ROCKET developed a method of containing such creatures. Small, fist-sized capsules would be given out to people to clear out the island of the creatures, leaving it a place where populous could live normal lives without further disruption. Now the creatures could be contained inside pockets, allowing those who held them to have the authority instead of mindless beasts.
Conversely, this did not sit too well with the pocket monsters themselves. They would scuttle, tunnel, take wing or attack those who tried to capture them. Needless to say, these capturers would need a trained beast of their own to weaken it. After much difficulty, ROCKET employees got their hands on smaller monsters and began giving them out to children as young as ten years of age to round up the pocket monsters. It soon became fashion to show off the beasts you caught to your friends and they were even used as power; as weapons against others. A boy named Ash was trapped in all of this disorder. He had just turned eleven and had been taunted about not possess a monster of his own. From all of this, he decided to get one for himself. What he ended up with was a destructive, disobedient Pikachu. However, their account is more exciting than most in this situation…
