Is it just me or is there some sorta generation gap between us older fans from the 80-90s and all these new age ones that joined in recent popularity after 2000?

I mean all of a sudden I find many of my favorite series as being reffered to as "old school" or "classic". While I might understand that with my favorite manga "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" since it is from the 80s but my second favorite series "Ranma 1/2" as well?!

Beyond simply being refered to as old I have heard some unkind things of manga which were revolutionary for their time and what I myself still regard as high quality to this day. I mean Miyazaki hand inked much of Nausicaa and I see people regarding it as "bad"?! I mean tis a far cry from the clean and smooth lines of today but they are clearly artistic differences not quality ones. I mean rarely do you come across such detailed backgrounds even with manga series like Negima CGing much of the environments as well as battle effects. Normally I might shrug this off as a fool commenting but when I see more than half a thread of people making the same comments of "bad art" and "slow story" on what I viewed as an epic title I can't help but wonder if there is a generational gap between us raised on Mobile Suit Gundam & Gundam Wing or Dragonball & Dragonball Z v.s. those who join in during Gundam SEED & Gundam SEED Destiny or Naruto & Death Note.

Something to contemplate. When did you join in and what do you think on my ramblings?

Well, I like a mixture of both Earlier manga and more recent manga. But I do see what you're saying, in my opinion older manga hold more appeal to me than those of today.

Prefered 80s/90s Manga.
Ah My Goddess: This started in 1989, yea the art isn't as clean as newer manga but it has a sentimental value. And it's still going today.

Sailor Moon: As I remember this started in 1992, one of the most well known manga. I loved it then and still love it now. What can I say?

Fushigi Yuugi: Yuu Watase, 1994, again maybe not as clean as today's manga but it's appealing and I'll always love it.

I dunno maybe I am reading in to deeply and this is all just the result of every kid these days having ADD.

Indeed Ah! My Goddess has some great art as well. Sailor Moon... I still hold a love for the Sailor Senshi and in my opinion the Sailors & Card Captor Sakura are superior to any modern Nanoha Strikers or new age magical girl team.

Yes, I still love Sailor Moon, it was the first anime & manga series that got me into liking it.

"in my opinion the Sailors & Card Captor Sakura are superior to any modern Nanoha Strikers or new age magical girl team." I have to agree completely. I think that this is because the original 'magical girl' groups were created by manga such as Sailor Moon. Also, the following years have bought out more of the same 'magical girl' groups, I feel that it gets repetitive too easily. Do you agree?

^Wasn't "Cutie Honey" the original magical girl manga made? :o No matter,I get the point you are trying to make ^^

Candy Candy was made in the 70's. It's one of my personal favorites.Does it lack quality? Of course not :P In fact I think it's wayy better than some of the anime of today, for it has an original plot than most of today's anime.

I like tons of anime from today too though, but hey,we have to show some love to some of the older series.I mean really,Sailor Moon? Evangelion? RANMA 1/2?Total nostalgia *-* The animation is diffrent yes,but that doesn't mean it lacks quality.People who say that "it's bad" are just more used to their little moeblob/action anime of today.

So I equally see earlier works on equal ground with today's series.I wasn't around at the time, but it's always nice to explore anime of the past aswell as of today's ;D

Please no one quote me,this is MY opinion.
