A Story about a man who is going through depression, all because of one girl...i've rated it PG-13, due to some violence.
Adam lies in his bed. Thinking about what he just did. The gun had been carefully set down on the dresser beside him, blood dripping from his cold hands. He lies there and thinks about what that girls life would've been like if he hadn't have killed her. He hears the sirens blaring from outside, but he didn't move an inch. He still lies there, thinking. He thought back to when he wasn't like this...when he wasn't, depressed. The cops slam open to door and put him in handcuffs so fast, but he says nothing. He thinks back to when he was happy...to when life wasn't so complicated. When life wasn't so...depressing. But i'm getting far to ahead of myself, lets go back a couple of days...
Adam sits at the kitchen table of his apartment reading the newspaper. Examing business and stokes and all that. He put the paper down, and got up, ready to go to work. He knew what was going to happen though. He'd go to work, and he'd get fired. He had just lost the biggest account his company could've ever gotten. But he didn't care...what did he have to lose? He had nothing, no family, no money, and now not even a girl... When he got to work, he sat down and just thought about what he could've doon instead. A thousand of "What Ifs" ran through his mind. Suddenly, a bang on the desk, his boss, stood over his desk with an angry face, but yet, it still seemed sympathetic.
"What the hell are you doing here? You screw up the biggest account this business has gotten in years, you delibreatly insult me, and now you think you can just waltz right in here and expect things to be just fine? Well no, you...you...you have to leave now, i can't have you here anymore," said his boss in a meloncoly sort of tone.
His boss started to say more stuff, but Adam wasn't listening. He was to busy thinking. He did that alot. Thinking about what could've happened if that girl hadn't of made him late. It was that girl, that caused the accident that led to his arrest. That girl, on Little Neck Avenue. That girl, who had ruined his life forever... The girls name was Deliah. She was 20 years old. It was her birthday in one month. It was her birthday, the day before she was killed. But lets go back to yesterday...when this whole mess began...
Adam was 30 years old, had a great job at a great law firm. A great girlfriend, and a great life. Today his firm had the biggest account in years. The biggest client in years, and he was in charge of it all. All he had to do was be there on time, and he was set. He got in his car, on his way to his job. When it happened. The girl happened. He saw that girl out his rearview mirror. He smiled, but she turned away. He let her pass you on the road, He was being polite. What If, he hadn't of been polite? What If, he didn't look in his rearview mirror? What If he left a few minutes earlier? Questions like these buzz through his head. Anyway...he gets on the highway. There wasn't much activity this early, so there weren't many cars. Out of nowhere, the sirens blare. The lights flash. The cops are tailing Adam. He pulls over and opens the window.
"Whats the problem officer?" Adam asked?
"The women who was in front of you, says you were following her, stalking her. Making her everr move," the officer explained.
"What? I haven't been following her. I'm just going to work," Adam retorted.
"Sir, your going to have to come with me," the officer said in a firm voice.
"No, i can't, i have a big meeting and I have to-" he started.
"I don't care what you have to do, your coming with me," the officer said.
And before he knew it, he was behind bars, behind bars for commiting a crime he hadn't done. What If, he hadn't taken a different route to work? The jail door threw open, and they said that Adam had made bail. He walked out and saw his girlfriend there, with an unhappy face. Adam started to explain, but she just shook him away. The drive back was a quiet one. His girlfriend dropped him off at work, and drove away, still silent. He ran inside the building, hoping there would be a miracle, and that they were still there. But they weren't. He went inside, and his boss told him he screwed up, the client, was lost.
"I-I-I'm sorry, i got kind of held up," Adam weakly tried to explain.
"Got help up? Well i'm sorry if you had something more important to do, but we just lost the BIGGEST ACCOUNT IN YEARS!" His boss screamed.
Suddenly the office got silent. Employees stopped there chatter and stopped to look.
"I was..." Adam started.
"I know I know, held up, well you know what? I don't care, because..." The boss started.
"Go rot in hell! I could care less about your little account! I missed it AND I'M GLAD I DID!" He stupidly retorted.
What If he hadn't of said that? After he left, he knew he hadn't nothing left to lose. He knew, everything was lost...
