Hey guys, I've been working on this story for 3 months, and I'm posting it on all the sites I can think of. Hope you guys and gals like it!

Chapter 1 - Vern’s Moving Day

*A small house in a remote town called Corby*

"Vern, do you really have to leave?"

Vern folded his arms, as his little sister, Tammy, hugged his waist.

"Yes, I have to. Tammy, my cab is on its way, I can't stay much longer..."

"But I don't want you to go!"

"Tammy, leave your brother alone," their father, Mr Smith said, as he walked up to his son.

"Are you sure this is what you want to do?"

"I'm sure. I'm old enough remember? Thirteen last November."

"Well, if you're sure. I better go to see to your mother, she's crying in the kitchen."

Mr Smith left the hallway, leaving Tammy and Vern. A horn from outside signalled to Vern it was time to go.

"I'll see you soon, Tammy. Don't worry. BYE MUM! BYE DAD!"

After more kisses and hugs, Vern, with no suitcases (he insisted this was a new start), sat down in the taxi, and in a matter of seconds, he had left his town behind, to start a new life in the mountains.

Vern sat uncomfortably in the back seat of the taxi, as the driver rode on, not saying a word. After a while, rain started to pelt from the ground, and the driver turned around. He was Kapp'n.

Vern knew him, he was always scooting around town, picking up the residents. Corby was a human town, yet this turtle had set up his business around there. However, where Vern was going to, was an animal resort of 'happiness', the brochure had said.

"So kid, you going to Sutton then?"

"Yes, I heard it's peaceful. I wanted to live there since I saw it on the news."

"Ah yes. The Farway Museum. An owl called Blathers recently opened it about a month ago. There has been no donations yet, but a pigeon has acquired the basement."

"What for?"

"Who knows? Anyway, Sutton is a lovely place. I used to sail to the valley that runs all the way down the mountain that Sutton is perched on, and grab my climbing gear and trek up the cliffside just to see what stock old Nook had in his store. I'm sure you'll love it there. Oh look, we're coming close to the mountain!"

Vern wound down the window, and popped his head out. The sight was beautiful. A large mountain, with a cliff that climbed up to a small platform, which Vern presumed was Sutton. Then, the cliff continued around the platform, eventually stopping in a sharp point at the top. Running from the small platform was a waterfall, which then ran into a valley, that Vern could see next to him as they drove further up the mountain.

"It's wonderful..." Vern whispered, as Kapp'n turned into a tunnel, which had a road that winded up to the platform. As they left the tunnel, Vern realised they were up much higher, and he could see that Sutton had a small beach, unusual for a mountain. Well, it wasn't really a beach, just a trail of sand, which he presumed someone had laid there. Around three of the sides of Sutton, there was cliff side, and the other side opened into the country. The taxi turned sharp into a rocky road, which led up to a large, stone archway. Kapp'n parked his small, brown cab, and opened the door. He knocked on the side of the archway, and Vern watched a brick being pulled in from the other side, and a small pair of eyes looked through the hole.

"Copper, it is me, Kapp'n. I've got the new resident!"

"Vern? We were expecting him! Quick, come in!"

Kapp'n sat back down in his cab, as a big pair of wooden doors opened, to reveal a stone pathway. Kapp'n drove through, and waved to Copper, who nodded. Vern looked out the other window, and saw a dog, the same breed as Copper, but much fatter. He waved to Vern, who waved back. Kapp'n drove through, and Vern saw Sutton for the first time. Trees were littered all over the place, with small bunches of flowers. Vern could see the river winding next to him, as Kapp'n drove slowly for the town. They crossed a stone bridge over the water, and into another section. As they drove North, Vern could see two small shops next to each other, and a small house in the distance. Kapp'n parked once more, outside a white building, with a large blue roof, and a wooden door.

Kapp'n stepped out the cab, and opened Vern’s door,

"Vern, welcome to Sutton!"
