What are your opinions on net shorthand? That is to say, do you mind when people use r for are and u for you and 2 for to and ppl for people and all that, or does it annoy you? Is it no concern, or do you consider it a grammar nightmare?

I can't stand it when people use shorthand-i'm far too picky when it comes to correct punctuation, spelling and grammer! I think it looks so untidy..too much of a perfectionist i guess.

If I ever knew it was possible to wake up one morning and find the sweetest, most beautiful woman...I would've wanted to wake up a lot sooner.... Smart, sensible, pretty, funny, kind...are words that aren't close enough to describing just how perfect she truly is. Her cute smile, her warm auburn hair and her pale ice blue eyes, add to the beauty of her terrific personality. But most of all, she cares for me too; thats why I wear my best smile every day..."

I have to agree with you all...I was trying to make my first post neutral but now that people have replied I guess I can voice my opinion :P

For one thing, it's just plain lazy. When I see people people typing things like "Whr ru goin 2 2day?" I just don't see how they can feel like it saves any time. It's worth the extra tenth of a second to not sound ignorant. It's very frustrating to read. I can actually stand leet better than I can stand internet shorthand. And besides sounding absolutely ignorant, it ruins peoples' grammar. I don't think any of us who type normally expect all that much from other people--"good grammar" isn't high-class, it should be considered normal. The "I r liek da 2cool" stuff that people type just perpetuates the grammatical problems that are worsening with every generation...I just miss being able to read sentences other people write without so many needless abbreviations...it just annoys me, plain and simple.

I dislike it too. I'll admit typing that way back in 7th and 8th grade though... but when I go and read notes that were written to and from me, I can't even understand them now because of the shorthand. I'm the kind of person that tends to correct spelling and grammar a lot. Well, for people I know really well. I won't correct the grammar of someone I don't really know since it's not really place to then. But like, when I talk to my friend online I'll correct her typos and spelling and grammar errors... so in short, I don't like internet shorthand! It just makes everything look sloppy!
