Now, I understand that the mods here are doing there job, however, there is a bit of a problem. You see, around 50% of the pages in the boards are filled with closed topics. Why don't any of you admins here make a forum to place all of these closed topics in and have them organized so people can look through them instead of going through closed topics mixed with the regular ones? sounds nice does'nt it?

exactly my point. Right now, there are 74 users veiwing the D/P forums. Could you imagine going through a page with closed topics way too much space? It can get quite annoying at times.

since D\P is the most popular of the forums, we should start fixeing that forum up a bit huh?

First off, we don't delete threads (unless it's really really bad). Second, a closed thread shows more then one thing. It's there to prevent anymore posting (may it be spamming, revived thread, or whatever), and it also shows that the thread of that type doesn't need to be posted again. Sure lots of n00bs don't read locked threads, nor sticked threads.

The idea is ok. And I can see and upside to it. Because all them locked threads do make the forum look bad. And a forum with 500 less locked threads (just tossing out a random number) might free up some pages. But at the same time it goes back to the point where it prevents new threads from coming up (even if it's just 3 or 4 members a day, that's 3 or 4 less locked threads around the forum).

It's worth looking into.

Indeed. Perhaps grouping the closed threads into a "Wall of shame" forum would get some attention. and make the noobs not want their threads to go there. Therefore they'd follow the rules and post less spam. That's just my Idea.
I don't think a "Wall of shame" would really look too good. :\
Firstly, if noobs are still posting the threads with the locked threads in the forum, what prevents them from doing so again even if they'll be put on such a wall? It's not like they're really going to look at a specific forum of disallowed posts... just my take on this.

Well if we make the point of the "wall of shame" clear to everyone and put in big capitol letters in it's decription "THESE ARE EXAMPLES OF RULEBREAKING POSTS AND THREADS" and all them maybe they'll read it. But yeah, Not everyone will read it. However, it'll still be effective against those who do care enough to read it. Besides, It'd be a good way to show them what's against the rules since telling them doesnt seem to get the lesson through to them. I think that if we put a "Wall of Shame" up they'd be able to understand more fully the DOs and the DONTs of this place. Then Noobs wouldnt have an excuse to say "Ooooh I didnt know that...." more than once or twice.

No go on the "Wall of Shame". If we do start a forum like rocklee666 said then it's going to be Staff viewing only.
And just tossing out a few reasons why that idea (Wall of Shame) is bad.

1: Pages and pages and pages of locked threads (even in a trash dump forum) looks bad. It might be a trash dump forum but it still looks bad.
2: Most people who post pointless threads are just n00bs asking some something or whatever. So they won't look at the forum nor will they care if the their thread is put in there.
3: They might look bad, but getting a warning is what's to be done for posting a pointless thread and such.

People break the rules even after getting a warning and told not to. Having an open forum like that just makes PC look bad.

I fully understand the possible repercussions of such a forum being out in the open. However, I feel that we need some sort of place where threads that are clearly breaking the rules are shown to all. Doing so would help people learn the rules In my opinion. If you are worried that having pages and pages of locked threads would demean the image of PC then maybe we could find a thread breaking each of the listed rules and sticky them in a subforum of CQ&F that could be called Examples of Rulebreaking. We need something that will effectively show what is considered rulebreaking around here so that new members will have a clear idea of what the rules are. And yes We sould include rules of all subforums too. That way people know all the rules everywhere. and if they dont they can use that forum as a handy guide to find out if something is against the rules or not

That's my final rebuttal and opinion for now. If another point comes up I might post here again.

I'm not posting merely to be discouraging, but I really had to say something. It may come across as bitter, or snarky, but it's the honest truth.

Well if we make the point of the "wall of shame" clear to everyone and put in big capitol letters in it's decription "THESE ARE EXAMPLES OF RULEBREAKING POSTS AND THREADS" and all them maybe they'll read it. -No one will read it that should. Everyone who would read that -- well, they already read the rules. Caps merely look annoying and they serve no purpose.
-No one is going to be lurking a closed threads forum unless they are REALLY bored.
-People are just going to complain about being on a WALL OF SHAME~!!111! aaaarggh!! ur mean1!11! I HAET THIS FORUM1!11 It's bad enough as it is.
-They HAVE no excuse. There are no excuses for not reading the rules.

I... don't really see what this would do, although I do understand what you're suggesting.

What about.. one Examples of Rulebreaking sticky with links to the offending posts?
That wouldn't work either. No one is going to read that. Being a sticky makes a thread taboo. It's merely going to single some people out and make them feel unwelcome.*

*Whether they are unwelcome or not is not the point. If it was a thing of people being welcome or unwelcome, half this forum would be gone. :K

How about a better idea?

If you made this forum,
first, have the closed topics sections for the games and such, and have it organized.

For Ex.

POkemon D/P
Pokemon Advanced games
Pokemon metal and color games.
etc.
etc.

[create thread]
-topics-

Now, those spam, is up to you, personally, I don't like the idea of having a "Wall of Shame". You'll just make the members pissed off if you put their closed spam in there and said that it's a bad example. as Kylie-chan said. people are going to be like;"I HAET YUO1!!!!!!!1,GO DIE,UR SOOOOOOOOOOOO MEAN!!!1!!!!" yataatatatata, whatever. Those should be deleted instead of locked.

Regardless on whether it's bad or not. it's spam and it's gotta go.

Now, those members who are mad at you, this is a real example.
Now the real problem was, we changed the banner on the website I was moderating, and a member got pissed after we told him to stop yelling, whats next? I got the frekin night shift 'cuase that member made over a 1,000 spam posts at midnight!(3:00 AM).Not kidding. It really was over 1,000.

IF you made the members mad by having there closed spam put up in such a rude title for a forum, and said not to do that, of coarse there going to be mad!And they might spam up this site too. And trust me, thats not fun, because guess who had to clean up that guys mess at my site? Thats right, me. We don't want any problems here with the members, but, we also don't want a mess and make the site look sloppy now do we?

Sorry for the double post, I also would like to tell the mods to lighten up. they can delete posts as well. Now why is the "Yuor D/P team topic" closed? If theres spam, delete it! thats what your job is! To move topics, close topics, DELETE SPAM, and more importantly, keep the site INTACT. Why do you think the admins entrusted you to be a moderator? To stand around and look pretty? certainly not. If there is a spammed topic, fix it instead of closing it and getting out of the problem the easy way.

MY old topic I made was closed because it was in the wrong spot! The mod put it in quotes,"I don't think this is in the right spot though ><"

He said okay,thats a good enough reason!*LOCKED*
How about this stratedgy you idiot, *MOVE*

And, mods also have the power to edit posts! USE YOUR ABILITIES TO YOUR FULLEST! Now, people like you who dont, are just lazy. So straighten up.

Thats also something that could work. However, you did not think about what our lazy mods do here is close topics that are "answered". So what if it's answered? don't close it. IF spam gets in, don't close it or delete it(as if you ever delete anything), delete the posts!
I don't mean to offend, and I don't mean to get banned, but how about getting some brains!

Hm...yup, those lazy mods really need to get their act together. We lazy admins need to get ours together too. And we need to get some brains.

Okay, you're right. It's time for us to really crack down and do some work around here. Let's start by giving you an official warning for flaming the staff. Two more and you're banned.

rocklee666, you've just put me in a bad mood. And that's not a good thing...

One of the things I hate more then anything is some new random member going around telling PC Mods, or PC Staff how to do their job. Who died and put you in charge rocklee? Who promoted you to the rank of Admin where you can go off telling Mods how to do their job? Where do you come off thinking you know best on how PC is run over the Admins? Where do you come off thinking the Mods of PC don't know how to do their job? I would like to know exactly why you think you know best and can go off telling the Mods of PC how to run their own forums. Because you're a Staff member at some other forum doesn't mean it's PC. PC has over 30,000 members, over 3,000,000 posts, does your forum have the same size? Does it have the same members, the same Staff, the same forums, the same history and such? If not then how about you leave the demanding and Mod telling up to the people who really know what they're talking about.
As one of PC's Admins I am insulted by your post. They know their job and what to do, they don't need some random member to tell them how to do their job. And if they get out of line or do something wrong it is up to the Higher Staff (S-Mods and higher) to straighten them out, no you, not some other member who thinks they know best, it's the Higher Staff, not someone who knows nothing about it.
And here's the thing, we don't delete threads unless really needed. Did you even read my first post in this thread? It's in the friggen first line. And I'll quote it so I can make it easy on you (since you somehow missed it the first time, you might miss it this time as well). "First off, we don't delete threads (unless it's really really bad).". Was my post not good enough for you? Is the highest rank on PC not good enough for you? You are not the judge of what's spam, or what's not, or what should be deleted and what shouldn't. You think you're "OMG I know best because I'm a Staff member on another forum" and that makes you all knowing? Well that's stupid. You come off putting down the Mods, putting down the judgment of the S-Mods and Admins, and think everything is a-ok, well it's not. It is not the place of the members to tell the Mods how to do their work. It is not the place of the members to tell the Higher Staff how to run their forum. And that means it's not your place rocklee666.

MY old topic I made was closed because it was in the wrong spot! The mod put it in quotes,"I don't think this is in the right spot though ><"

You mean that topic? Let me quote this "The mod put it in quotes,". Now read the first paragraph of the post I just linked to. Now tell me this rocklee, you just said a Mod said that, and yet I see that you are the one who said it. When did you become a Mod on PC?

And are you calling the Mods idiots? Boy, you really are stuck up and a know it all. You're calling our Mods idiots when you know NOTHING about Modding on PC. That sounds good, maybe next time before you think you know best how about you know what you're talking about from a point of view where you stood in that spot (and I don't mean being a Staff member on some random forum)? Sounds nice doesn't it?

And we don't edit posts... <_<;;
It is so much fun when someone goes off telling other people how to run their forum and knows nothing about how that forum is run. Maybe you should stop talking, it might help on things. Because what you've said lately has been WRONG. We don't delete posts (unless really bad) because members will go "Where's my post?" we don't edit posts because it's not something we do (we don't have to clean up after someone's mess). It is NOT up to the Mods to go around editing people's posts. I don't care if they do got that power it is not for them to do unless it's really bad. And now you're calling our Staff lazy and also demanding them to listen to you and straighten up... Right...
So how about next time before you go off running your mouth and making yourself look big (well in this case, stupid) you get your facts straight? Think that might be best for you and everyone around you?

Thats also something that could work. However, you did not think about what our lazy mods do here is close topics that are "answered". So what if it's answered? don't close it. IF spam gets in, don't close it or delete it(as if you ever delete anything), delete the posts!

"It's there to prevent anymore posting (may it be spamming, revived thread, or whatever)". What are you trying to do rocklee? Trying to undermine the Higher Staff who laid down the rules LONG LONG before you came along just because you're sick of your threads getting locked? You pop your head in thinking you know best just because you Mod or Admin some random forum out there. Well here's a new flash for you rocklee, your forum isn't PC. So how about you get some brains, shut your mouth, and keep your fine Staff thoughts to yourself?

It's the community feedback forum. The staff WANT members [god, I almost said we want members... things change] to suggest things. They just want them to be polite, reasonable, and abide by the rules.

I'm going to put my two cents in, and agree with Arcanine and Andrea-chan. The fact is, locked posts should (I said should) serve as an example for others. I read them, but that's just my eccentric self. Tucking them into a deserted Trash Can-like forum won't deter people from posing the same stupid questions - over and over, in some cases - and getting the same answers. Deleting them is worse, because they're completely gone at that point, for no reference. Locking threads is a great practice, we get enough spam as it is. I, for one, support the Admins and Mods. After all, they aren't Admins and Mods because they don't know what to do.

Indeed. I agree with Arcanine and Bishopk. They are right.
The Admins/Mods here have truly earned their stripes.
I agree that deleting threads is not a good policy. Besides, why delete a good thread just because a single noob came in and started a flame war? Or even just asked a silly question that was out of place and the post cant be deleted because it's not offensive?

I feel that the admins/mods here really know what they are doing. I rarely ever see offensive posts and/or flaming go unpunished for long. If it does go unpunished it's because there was no one around with the power to dish out the appropriate punishment. And usually as soon as someone with rank enough to mete out the punishment as outlined in the rules logs in the rulebreaker is taken care of.

As for CQ&F yes I do agree that it's point is clear. It's here for members like us to air our Ideas and give feedback on our experience here. However when airing your opinion one should be very mindful of the rules.

Now. IF you "admins" would stop yelling at me, I would like you to bring forth to me, the ROOT admin as the invision free boards go. I have no clue what vbulletin does. The CREATER of Pokecommunity I should say, that would be more effective. Now, you may be wondering what I'm doing here as well.

Next, I don't think we care if we fail, where is this going anywhere? SPP? Then please do fail us, none of us want a bunch of n00bs at our site. And get your facts straight. Not even SPP has a million members.

Your idea is pretty bad, too. An entire board of locked threads would be gross. ;x

Work on your grammar, get your facts straight, stop telling people who are more intellectual than you to do something, and then you can see about giving a suggestion (anywhere, really. Don't even do stupid things like this on SPP, it just makes you look bad.)

I'm sorry... this is just too funny. XD

The editing accusations, the fact that he had guests watching, OMG it's so ridiculous. XD;

Seriously dude, go home. We don't care for your accusations and ludicrous claims. If I wanted someone to tell me how to do my job, I'd hire some random n00b from the Diamond/Pearl section to do it, not some no name who thinks he's all that. Take your "truth" and leave, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

BUT OMG ITS SO FUNNY.

Nice job, rocklee666. You've earned yourself another warning. Another reply like that and you're going to be banned.

Leave running PC to the staff. I think they might know better about how to run it than you.
