I was just thinking of a Mixed-Tanking moveset for Torkoal that focuses on both offense and defense:

[email protected]
Quiet
Trait: White Smoke
-Curse
-Amnesia
-Earthquake/Rock Slide
-Flamethrower

Plan: To switch in to a physical sweeper which Torkoal can stand against, and use Amnesia while they switch in to a counter such as Milotic, then tank away.

And there's this Bastiodon set:

[email protected]
Careful
Trait: Sturdy
-Curse
-Sandstorm
-Iron Head
-Block

Plan: Switch in to something he can stand against. Use Curse to boost Attack & Defense and Sandstorm to boost Sp. Def. Use Block to prevent the foe switching in to a counter, then strike back with Iron Head.

Rate, Fix, Suggest EV spreads, than kind of stuff. Thanx in advance.

Relaxed Nature
252 HP 252 DEF 6 SP.ATT
- Overheat
- Curse
- Gyro Ball
- Amnesia/Rest/Explosion

Bostiodon doesnt make much of a wall IMO due to its tendancy to die against its 3 VERY COMMON weaknesses which are 4X Fighting, water and 4X Ground, which means the most common move in the game , Earthquake.

Torkoal can somewhat stand up to its weaknesses because they are only 2x weaknesses (w Curse and /or Amnesia ) not 4X as they are with Bastiodon.

I say go with Azelf's set for Torkoal but you might switch Overheat out for Heat Wave.

Torkoal @ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 52 Sp.Atk
- Amnesia / Toxic
- Will-O-Wisp
- Explosion
- Flamethrower

Explosion is great for a finishing move. Amnesia works effectively when used against certain opponents, but would probably get Hazed right after. Toxic is just to give it something to use against bulky waters.

While we're on the subject, I think one of the best UU walls is Hypno *coughbiasedopinioncough* Still, it is rather effective and can take quite a few special hits. And golem is a nice UUer as well, but is neglected by gamefreak since they love rhyinferior.

meganium w/ counter is awesome.

hypno is good, but he actually gets beat by Grumpig as a UU wall. well, at least he used to. sleep moves are so popular this gen, which gives hypno that little edge.

i find it sad how they've treated golem myself... =(

They could've at least made rhyinferior well-designed...but they make it look like dog poo...geez. Oh, ploiwrath FTW! Belly drum is great, and it has a nice physical movepool to utilize. It can beast some UUs...and get gobbled by others. Still a great poke IMO. Venusaur if it is UU...

Hypno's a great supporter in UU teams, as it learns pseudopassing moves such as Reflect / Light Screen, Hypnosis, T-Wave, Wish, etc. While Hypno isn't near good as Blissey, it can take care of most of the special sweepers in UU. I think Hypno is a much more versatile wall than Grumpig now, though it handles Ice / Fire attacks better with its Thick Fat ability, and it turns out better than Hypno if it's designed to be a sweeper rather than a wall.
