i was just wondering what a good defensive moveset would be for dusknoir he will soon have 252 defense EVs and he right now has 252 sp def EVs

if you read my other post, you would know im not the best at determining movesets:(

Always max out the HP of a Dusknoir before it's defenses, since its HP is actually very low despite it's godly Def/SpDef stats. I'd use some berries to reduce that SpDef, max out the HP first. Dusknoir has a hefty Att stat too, so getting some physical attacks on it (Focus Punch is a personal favourite) and some Att EV/Proteins are an option too.

Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Careful Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 92 Def / 164 Sp.Def
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- ThunderPunch
- Fire Punch / Shadow Sneak

The most important thing you'd want to do before even bothering with its defences is giving it max HP EVs. While not investing any HP EVs would make Pain Split more powerful, its HP is already so bad that it wouldn't make too much of a difference. Fire Punch is most useful if you were to ever use Will-O-Wisp on Heracross. While it abuses its Guts ability, you have a chance in preventing it from using Pursuit against Dusknoir with Fire Punch. Shadow Sneak is reasonable to use, as its speed is rather poor, so it's worth being mentioned if you ever want to finish off pokémon that are already weakened. Pain Split is really not the best move to use for self-healing, but it's better to use than Rest, which is rather risky.

[email protected] Band/Sash or Leftovers
252 HP, 200 Sp. Def, 56 Def
Calm

Will-O-Wisp
Pain Split/Trick Room
Confuse Ray
Night Shade

works well for me...

The Trick Room set goes with Focus Sash/Band, while the other is with good old lefties. :)

Confuse Ray is a horrible move for competitive play, same goes for Night Shade on Dusknoir, he's a physical attacker

Confuse Ray is used more as a move to make the opponent switch, which it does do well. Second, I use it as a wall and it is great, as when the opponent switches, i bring in Trick Room, then either will-o-wisp or use another confuse ray. night Shade is handy when opponents like Gyarados use Taunt.

Thunderpunching Dusknoir is always something great to use :P Confuse Ray can go unexpected, you never know what it can bring, hence why it is a hax move

yes, but Confuse Ray is not really used for the damage side of things, more if I need a quick change.... :)

Anyway, you could say that moves that don't have 100% accuracy are hax, because they have luck involved also..... :P

I'm sorry, but where did this word hax come from? I just got the meaning.

And Night Shade should only be used on pokes who can't deal damage. Which is not Dusknoir's text.

As I have been saying, I am not using Dusknoir as an attacker, but rather as a wall, and therefore, I am using Night Shade. If I was using Thunderpunch etc., then I wouldn't have it, but that is how it stands.

I was speaking on Monkey's behalf. If you use Night Shade, fine, but for his sake, it must be explained.
