When it comes to scratch, I'm pretty shoddy at it...

On the other hand, I fancy myself a decent slice-spriter. Point in case, my signature... I made it as soon as I could get my hands on a HG/SS sprite sheet. How does it look?

[As you can tell, the Haunter is a simple recolor-- it's mostly the trainer I'm wondering about]

I don't like the first one the outline is bobbly and it's back is unnatural straight. The second looks really disorganised with all those weird colours of outlining. The last one has straight legs.. D:
if you think you can do better remake them!

She was just giving you constructive criticism. And your sprites do need some work in the areas specified in her post. I suggest taking a good look at each sprite focusing on the outline. You should notice where the outline looks choppy or to light.

You shouldn't get so worked up, I was only giving constructive critisism as Conan said.
But if you insist..

Must I go on? And don't you dare post this remade one as your own without crediting me..

It's up to you If you accept either c+c or not, if you do use it in your advantage to get better at spriting. If you go whining because you can't have critisism I would say you should give up.

For now, If you are planning on trying to become better it's the best to accept constructive crisism. Do something with it, it helps becoming better. Now quit whining about my critique.

If you edit other people's work for the sake of critique, then the guy has all the right to incorporate your edits to his work, or reject them, whenever you like it or not. It all comes down to this: It's his concept, and when you edit it, you're just adding to it, not making it yours.
He could credit you if he wanted, but he doesn't have to.

Keep this in mind when editing the works of others, and remember that for your edits to become helpful, you need to explain the changes you made to the sprite, and include the proper process, depending on the skill level of the person you're helping.

ive tried to follow frosslass_maniacs constructive criticism and tried making teerupts legs more round
ps.to frosslass_maniac do u think the concept was good but the sprites werent

only the first evo looks too much like a charmander. On only has long legs, a flameless tail a longer neck and a diffrent head.

I'm not going to make any tutorials because there are enough to be found :x

so if i gave it flames down its back and it was a different colour it would look better

Will there be a spindly-tweak Yoshi as well? :D

I really like that style, though Luigi's legs look a bit choppy without a dark background.
Well I'm planning on doing atleast bowser, Peach, a few enemies and a background, so i think i will end up doing Yoshi as well :)

Yeah, I agree about the legs, i'll see how they look on the background before I edit them too much. Thanks for the crits bro.

Looks good so far, the only thing I kinda see is the highlight around the center pillar thing on the building. It makes it look a little.. jagged? I dunno.

Also, may I ask what the green & blue parts on the left are? It kinda seems like water, but the perspective for that seems weird without more shading. btw, I love that cliff thing under the building, how it falls off into nothing.

I'd love to see it after you finish, or at least get more done. Very interesting style and palette choice.

@-smash, very nice style you got there.
Very different, kinda hard to critisize for me, not really used to that sort of style.
And like you said, it's not finished yet, but it's going to the right direction.

Do you know Pixeljoint?
Many pixal artists go there, non pokemon related and stuff, depending what you like to sprite.
Best pixel-artist i've met on pixel joint.
It might be a better place to get art like that rated decently.

I really didnt feel like spriting since 2010 began, and still I feel empty and dont want to sprite....
No ideas, and it might be the age right now, Pokemon spriting, I might be abit to old for it...
But I'm sure I get some nice concepts sooner or later.
My latest sprite non pkemon related though.

I would suggest adding more shading, and try to get rid of some of the black outline. The tail looks a bit odd... I think it's the bend in the tail, and the outline that is present there.

I go there all the time, but im too lazy to make an account. I post my works on other similar pixel art forums though.



Yeah. Most of my WIPs seem like crap. But I can assure you they get better over time.
Isn't that was WIP means? Work... in progress? :P

Just one question about your current one: Is that meant to be a statue in front? As the colored clothing, etc, makes it look like a person.

Yep. Similar to the Athenea statue, but not. The greek temple sort of makes the scale evident anyways.

The C64 pallete is pretty much a pain.. It's why Im mixing up colors everywhere.



Now for more pixelwork, I made a self-portrait while taking a break from the above scene, btw.


It's like, 97.5 accurate.. I think.
