I don't know much but this is my idea of Dusknoir's moveset. Dusknoir is starting to interest me now.

Nature: Bold or Relaxed
Held Item: Leftovers
Shadow Sneak
Pain Split
Will-O-Wisp
Sesmic Toss

Well, hope that helps...

The standard Dusknoir, which has worked extremely well for me, is:

Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Careful Nature
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SDef

- Pain Split
- Will-o-Wisp
- Thunderpunch
- Shadow Sneak

Fire Punch is also nice if you want to scare Scizor and Forretress away; it also hits Heracross harder than the other moves and Ice Punch is nice for Garchomp, Salamence and Dragonite.

I'd prefer Shadowpunch over Shadowsneak - but either of them work.

The problem is that with Shadowsneak - you need two turns to get the same power of Shadowpunch - I'd use Shadowpunch....

Also, Dusknoir has a gread attack stat - there's no reason for Seismic Toss

I believe it was mentioned that Dusknoir NEEDS Brick Break

Shadow Sneak OVER Shadow Punch

Shadow Punch is a bit iffy imo. The point with Shadow Sneak is to snipe off Azelf and Gengar before they get to attack you (although you'll require Stealth Rock to do that) and it's a great way to take down Ninjask; allow it to use Substitute two times, then use Shadow Sneak and its HP will drop down low enough for Substitute to fail and then Ninjask will be forced to switch out or faint. The 30 lower base power (when factoring in STAB) isn't really much of a hindrance and either way, Shadow Sneak's advantages outweigh its disadvantages.

Dusknoir does in no way need Brick Break. In fact, Brick Break isn't even especially good on it. Tyranitar and Weavile are just going to get Will-o-Wisped Pain Splited, after which they won't be of much use anymore and Blissey doesn't like wasting Ice Beam's or Thunder Wave's PP.

I prefer my Dusknoir to carry two Punches. If I'm Heracross weak, then I will give him Fire Punch with another Punch. If I'm Dragons weak then Ice Punch and if I'm Gayardos weak then Thudner Punch.

But my favourite set is the one with Focus Punch and Substitute.

Heh, Curse was an old Advance option, and it failed even then. Even with Dusknoir's defences, losing half your health will still hurt it, and you don't have the speed to get in a Pain Split/Rest next turn (unless you've got Trick Room active). The set went something like this:

Dusclops @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EV: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpDef
Nature: Bold
Curse
Mean Look
Pain Split/Rest
Will-O-Wisp

As you see, Curse needs a dedicated moveset to make it even vaguely viable. Perhaps a Umbreon and a Trick Roomer in your team could pull it off, but I don't see it working in this generation, it didn't even work in Advance

Well, with my Dusknoir:

[email protected] belt
nature: adamant
Ev: 255 def, 255 sp.def
Ice punch
thunder punch
shadow punch
will-o-wisp

The reason for Expert Belt is that with those three punches, it covers a lot of types, and expert belt will only make them stronger

Noir needs lefties with its horrid HP...interesting set though. you might wanna put EVs into attack and HP instead...

Curse isn't standard, nor should it be.

thunder punch and brick break are the most beneficial moves on dusknoir. thinking that dusknoir can take 2 STAB SE hits (Crunch, Night Slash) and then try to stall with Will-O-Wisp + Pain Split is not being realistic. dusknoir can stall with pokes who attempt to wall him, but he's not up for taking CB Crunches and Life Orb Night Slashes unless hes impish with max def and hp.

Here's mine:

Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Careful (+Sp. Def, -Spd.)
252 HP/76 DEF/180 Sp. DEF
-Pain Split
-WoW
-Fire Punch
-Thunder Punch

I'd go for versatility rather than STAB, since his best is Shadow Punch, and that ain't too swift, either.
