I need a special sweeper for my team and I don't know what to use. I am new, but here is one idea I had:

[email protected]
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Speed / 252 SAtk
Nature: Modest/Timid
-Dark Pulse
-Aura Sphere
-Dragon Pulse
-Psychic

Again, I am new, so please share and explain your ideas for a different special sweeper or ways to improve this one.

Thanks.

Well, it all depends on what the rest of your team is? Who else will be on this team?

You can never go wrong with Porygon-Z.

Porygon-Z @ Life Orb / Lum Berry
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Dark Pulse / Nasty Plot
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
That's attack maneuver one, which is all-out attacking. My preferred choice.

Here's a more risky option:

Porygon-Z @ Salac Berry
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 128 HP / 216 Spd / 164 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
I'd probably go a little more on the HP or some Defense EVs, but that should at least let you live with enough HP to Salac after a Nasty Plot for a full destruction.

Hey, do you really need Thunderbolt on Porygon? I can see it being useful for taking out Gyarados, but outside that, there's not much need for it. A 2x supereffective THunderbolt or Ice Beam only does a small bit more than a STABed + Adapted Tri-Attack. Ice Beam, I can understand, as that's for taking out the likes of Garchomp and Salamence. And Dark Pulse is useful to have, simply for the Ghosts who are immune to Tri-Attack. Thunderbolt, however, just doesn't really seem all that necessary. Why is it never the one to be replaced with Nasty Plot?

10 measley power makes one huge difference.

Also, will a NVE Tri Attack damage Empoleon? Or perhaps it might hurt Skarmory? No wait, I say we try to hit Drifblim with it? OH YES EXSTENSIVE DAMAGE.

PoryZ with no Thunderbolt makes anything easy to set up on it, like let's say, GYARADOS...

You see, we replace Dark Pulse because a SE hit on that doesn't get more than Tri Attack. It gets LESS.

A fast special sweeper? I guess you can't go wrong with:

Starmie @ Choice Specs
Trait: Natural Cure
EV: 252 Speed/ 252 SpAtt / 6 HP
Nature: Timid
Surf/Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Rapid Spin/Grass Knot

Pretty standard this. Rapid Spin is for getting rid of Spikes/Stealth Rock, and Grass Knot for hurting stuff like Swampert.

Though it might sound a bit bizarre considering Starmie's high Speed, Modest and Choice Scarf work well on Starmie as well. Psychic is a nice choice with Choice Scarf (no pun intended) because you'll be able to outspeed Choice Scarf Heracross and make it suffer. Choice Scarfers in general are Starmie's biggest enemies, so why not counter them by giving Starmie a Choice Scarf as well? With Choice Scarf, Starmie can safely switch in on a Salamence's Dragon Dance and stay in against a Choice Scarf Garchomp and go for the OHKO with Ice Beam. So far Choice Scarf has never really hindered my Starmie so you might want to try it out.

Hhm, never thought of using Starmie as an anti-Scarfer. With more Pokemon using a CS to overcome it's average speed and push it into a useable range (Heracross, Kingler, etc), Starmie hits hard enough to dent most of them back with that high SpAtt and Modest nature.

Thought I'd add to the list with a couple of my own special sweepers

[email protected] Specs
Swift Swim
Modest Nature
EVs: 252 Sp Atk, 252 HP, 6 Spd
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Draco Meteor
-Dragon Pulse/Signal Beam/Hidden Power

A great sweeper, especially during times of heavy rain...

[email protected] Sash
Timid Nature
EVs: 252 Sp Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
-Nasty Plot
-Flamethrower
-Dark Pulse
-Hidden Power Ground/Fight

Ahh Houndoom <3... With Hidden Power Ground, the only thing that can wall it is Poliwrath, but Hidden Power Fighting has it's advantages over Tyranitar and Weavile (Ttar would also cause major problems due to Sandstream ripping focus sash apart)

Couple more suggestions:

Porygon-Z @ Choice Specs
Trait: Adaptability
EV: 252 SpAtt / 252 Speed / 6 HP
Nature: Timid
Tri-Attack
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Dark Pulse/Grass Knot

SpecsGon. Hurts stuff lots.

Gardevior @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Trace
EV: 252 SpAtt / 252 Speed / 6 HP
Nature: Modest
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Hypnosis/Energy Ball/Grass Knot
Focus Blast

Gardy can now overcome her slower speed with CScarf and give Zam some competition with it's meatier defences.

Thanks, everybody!
I am undecided between:

Porygon-Z @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Dark Pulse
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

[email protected] Belt/Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Speed / 252 SAtk /6 HP
Nature: Modest/Timid
-Dark Pulse
-Aura Sphere
-Dragon Pulse
-Agility

Starmie @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Natural Cure
EV: 252 Speed/ 252 SpAtt / 6 HP
Nature: Timid
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Grass Knot
I like the electric and ice and grass attacks on this one. I already have a spinner.

Scarfed Starmie doesn't need to be Timid... go Modest instead so you get some extra power as well as the huge speed from Scarf

Scarfed Starmie really works. It seems people expect a different set up so they boost they use Agility/Dragon Dance/Rock Polish thinking they now have enough to outspeed my Starmie. Then, I OHKO them with a powerful Surf. Glorious.

Youve probably all seen this before......

[email protected] Specs
Modest/Timid Nature
252 SP.ATT 252 SPEED 6 HP
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- Fire Blast

Hardly anything can switch into Draco Meteor without it doing major damage, which is why its there.

Dragon Pulse for late game sweeping and because Draco Meteor has very few pp.

Fire Blast and Hydro pump are there for coverage.

This set hits everything in the game for at least neutral damage, just between a Dragon Move and Fire Blast, Also a reason for two dragon moves.

This may be slightly expected now, but it is deadly.

I'd go with a Hasty/Naive nature and add Close Combat, so Blissey has no right walling you. Aura Sphere hurts her, but not too much. And Close Combat without a single Attack EV would be a 2KO, methinks.

So:

Lucario @ Life Orb
Hasty/Naive Nature
EVs: 252 SpAtk, 252 Speed, 6 Atk
- Close Combat
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Vacuum Wave

Only problem is that Skarmory may wall this set badly. But it's just nice knowing that Blissey can't freely switch into this guy. But if you want a pure Special Sweeper, consider Focus Blast over Aura Sphere, because 120 base power + STAB is quite frightening. Add a Choice Specs, and you're looking to hurt some things.
