Japan’s Civilization
(This scene takes place in urban Japan, with skyscrapers taking up most of the background. A reporter, Jane, is doing a report for USTV. She is in her mid-twenties. She also should be dressed in semi-formal clothing. The man she is interviewing is named Miyamoto, about age 37, and he should be dressed in semi-formal clothing as well [button-down, jeans])
Jane: (speaking to camera) Hello, I’m Jane, and this is a USTV excusive! I’m here in the Japanese city of Tokyo and Miyamoto, a game developer for Nintendo, (close up to Miyamoto) is about to tell me what regular life here is like. Fortunately, he speaks perfect English, so there is no need for a translator. (pause) So tell me, Miyamoto, how is life here?
Miyamoto: It’s really good. I’m so proud that I’m a game developer for Nintendo!
Jane: Erm, that’s nice… but I meant more along the lines of culture.
Miyamoto: Oh! Well, the culture’s thriving! Years ago, Japan had barely any real culture, just the traditional stuff like origami. But now, we’re doing great! Uhm, yeah… it’s just really… really… great!
Jane: Sounds greeeeaaattt…I mean great. How’s the education going?
Miyamoto: Oh, wonderful! Did you know that about 79.9% of all high school graduates end up extending their education?
Jane: What do you mean by that?
Miyamoto: As in, they’ll go to a university or a trade school.
Jane: So I’ll bet that means you’ve got some great technology here.
Miyamoto: You bet! We’re a leading nation in science and technology!
Jane: Could you be more specific?
Miyamoto: We have the third largest research and developmental budget in the world. We’re also the largest producer of automobiles.
Jane: I despise Japanese cars.
Miyamoto: Well, too bad. There’s nothing you can do about it.
Jane: That’s what you think! (laughs misceviously)
Miyamoto: Ooh… somebody forgot to take their meds…
Jane: (laughs nervously) What do you mean by that? (runs into a pole)
Miyamoto: Jane, are… you okay?
Jane: (apparently slightly hurt) Ooh… aah… ouch… yeah, I’ll be okay.
Miyamoto: Well, I’ll just continue what I was saying before then… We lead in robotics. We also are planning to build a moonbase by 2030!
Jane: That sounds amazing. Well, this was a USTV exclusive! Back to you, Stephanie!
Miyamoto: Bye!
There's a second part to it too, I just won't post it now...
