I've been breeding a special sweeper to join my team and I've decided to use Gengar.

The second Gastly I bred was Timid natured and had 29 on each IV, except Sp.Atk, which was 31. This is definately the one I'm going to use.

I'm most likely going to resume my quest for a Rash Typhlosion with a 50+ base power Hidden Power [ICE] now that I have my Dusknoir bred, but depending on when my brother trades me that Impish Ditto, I might go for Donphan first. *Sigh...* a perfectionist's life is never easy; it's going to take me forever just to get a usable Typhlosion.

May I point out that the IV calculator showed the IVs were 20 - 29. You should never assume that just because the IV can be high it actually is; your Gastly might very well have 20 Speed, which is not so cool because Gengar needs all the Speed it can get to survive.

Wow lucky? the most eggs I've ever had to was 94 for a Impish natured Totodie, of course it had absolutely horrid IV's.
Yeah, well it was worth getting the shiny one lol. My luck's not usually that great so I was grateful.

Well, after receiving a Timid Abra in a trade, i notived that it had the wrong ability(inner focus)so i thought "oh great, it's going to take me ages to breed a timid one with the right ability" But on my first egg, i got a Timid one, so i'm currently EV training up my Kadabra.
And it's also got 31 IVS in speed and 31 IVS in Sp. Atk, great Kadabra

I began my journey at approximately 8:34am. Choosing a gloriously powerful Chimchar and naming him Glandur, we set off on our quest to be the best. I've made it through Sandgem Town, Jubilife City and am now stationed in Oreburgh City where Glandur and I shall train before challenging the first gym leader.

During the Pokécommunity downtime I managed to nab myself a shiny Beldum on a chain of 1. Unfortunately the nature and IVs were absolutely horrid. (Lonely, 0 - 1 HP and Attack) Today I got a shiny Buizel with the Pokéradar.

I also got a great concept for making Regigigas usable (although it requires pretty much the whole team to be built around it) and I'm currently breeding and training the party members. Regigigas is now EV trained and so is one other Pokémon I need for the team. 2 team members are going to be from my main competitive team so I just need to train 2 more Pokémon until I can see if my idea just looks good on paper or if it actually works.
Fought Aaron of the Sonnh E4, and he kicked my rear end so hard, it wasn't funny. And i was using a fire pokemon!

And another thing that happened today. I managed to (barely) get through Victory Road. As you enter, there's this guy blocking the door to the E4 (until he checks your badges). So i thought that i would talk to him now, so i don't have to worry about it later. And my rival turns up, demanding to fight me! WTF?! So, natually, i lost, and i had to redo the whole last bit of the Road again. I healed before i talked to him.

Today I began my long, and fruitless, search for a Bagon. After 2 hours of Poke Radar'ing in the foggy part of Route 210, my luck seemed to have left me. Realizing that it would be faster to breed a Salamence from my fiance's game, and a Garchomp from my game, I reasoned with my loving fiance(begged more like it) to trade me one of her 20 Salamences to breed. After successfully retrieving an egg, I returned the level 100 behemoth to its rightful owner. So, now I have a Brave Bagon that knows Dragon Claw, and Twister.

That got me to wondering; " Can I possibly breed pokemon to get stronger ones that those that I already have?" Minus Kyogre, I found that it was in fact true. So, I set out to become a Pokemon Breeder, starting with my Brave female Vaporeon and my Rash Raichu to see just what Eevee would have. I am currently awaiting the results.

The last week has been quite busy with work, especially with having to work at one of our hospitals out in McKeesport (near Pittsburg). I trained with Quagsire, Mr Mime, and Roselia in between as much as possible, getting them in top shape for the gym battle (all 3 = Lv 29). And, after months of delay, it's time for

PASTORIA GYM CHALLENGE: vs. CRASHER WAKE!

It was a 3 on 3 battle, no time limit, substitutions allowed. Up to 2 Super Potions may be used by each side during the battle. Hold items allowed.

Wake ... er, I mean Crasher Wake reminds me off a cross between Chuck from Johto and Watson from Hoenn. Except his choice pokemon type is the Water-type. We choose our first pokemon; Wake starts with Gyarados while I sent out Quagsire. Gyarados? Crap. There goes my idea of utilizing Quagsire's Water Absorb ability, since Gyarados rarely employ any water-type attacks. Oh, and since Gyarados is part flying-type, it makes Quag's Mud Bomb attack useless. Bleah.

And so the battle begins!

Gyarados is the obvious quicker of the two pokemon, so it used Swagger to try and confuse Quagsire, but it missed. I had Quagsire use Tail Whip to lower Gyarados's defense a bit. (Since I have to rely on the horribly inaccurate Slam attack, every little bit of damage counts.) Gyarados landed its next Swagger attack, confusing Quagsire, but greatly increasing its attack power. But wouldn't you know it? I made a good call giving Quag a Persim berry to hold, so it gulped it down, curing its confusion, but keeping the attack boost! Quagsire, Slam! The direct hit sent Gyarados reeling! Wake forfit his next move giving Gyarados a Super Potion to restore its health. I took the oppotunity to have Quagsire use another Slam attack, bringing it right back to where it was. Gyarados used Dragon Rage, doing a predictable amount of damage to Quagsire. One more Slam attack should finish this, but Gyarados dodged the attack, landing a harsh Bite on Quagsire. Quagsire tried to come back with another Slam, but was too shaken by the Bite and missed. I knew Quagsire couldn't take another Dragon Rage attack (metagame translation: 40hp left) so I used a Super Potion to heal Quagsire. It gave Wake the opening to launch another Dragon Rage attack. Quagsire stood its ground, and just as Gyarados hit it with yet another Dragon Rage attack, Quagsire Slam-ed into it, knocking it out! Gyarados is unable to battle, the round goes to Quagsire!

Quagsire can barely battle, so I returned it to its pokeball for a well deserved rest. Next up, maximize Mr Mime! Wake sent out his Quagsire next. Interesting. Let's see what his can do.

I had Mr Mime use Reflect to boost my team's defense. Quagsire used Mud Sport to protect its team against Electric-type attacks. Smart move, except unlike most people, I didn't bring any electric-type pokemon with me. (Of course, unlike most people, I didn't beat the game a week after I bought it, heh.) Yeah, I like doing things my own way. Mr Mime, Psybeam! It landed a good hit on Quagsire, which was trying to use Tail Whip to lower my defense. I bet Crasher Wake didn't expect me to battle with a psychic-type! One more Psybeam, and Quagsire was unable to battle!

Ok, Wake is down to his last pokemon. I called back Mr Mime (who hasn't taken a single hit yet). It all comes down to this, I can taste that fourth gym badge! Go, Roselia, maximize! And Wake's last pokemon: Floatzel. Ok, I think Roselia can handle it. Roselia, Leech Seed! But, Floatzel being quicker (as I expected), it landed a super-effective hit with an Ice Punch first. Dang. Never considered his pokemon would have had ice-type attack, but should have assumed as much. The gym leaders in Sinnoh seem more cleaver like that. Leech Seed did hit as well, so Floatzel's energy will slowly be drained, and Roselia will gain some it back. Flotazel used Brine. Never saw that move before, but it's a water-type attack so Roselia was able to withstand it well. I had Roselia use a move it learned just the other day, Giga Drain, which absorbs half of the damage it does back to the user. Which was needed, because Roselia was still shaky from that first attack. But, Floatzel ate a Sitrus berry, restoring a little bit of its health, and just then, Reflect wore off. Dang. The only thing that probably saved Roselia from being totally knocked out by that Ice Punch was the Reflect wall that Mr Mime set up.

"This is where it gets exciting!" yelled Wake. Yeah, this battle is turning out to be pretty fun. But then again, I'm winning.

I called back Roselia, and sent Mr Mime back out. Wake used to opportunity to use a Super Potion on Floatzel to heal it a bit. That's annoying. Luckily, the Leech Seed from earlier is still slowly working. Floatzel fired a Swift attack at Mr Mime. What, nothing better to handle a Psychic-type with? Heh heh heh! (Insert evil cackling.) Mr Mime's strong special defense held up to multiple Swift attacks, while it used Reflect and then Light Screen to again wall my team, this time from both physical AND special attacks. I called back Mr Mime and sent Roselia back out. Roselia was still pretty hurt, but by this point Leech Seed had drained a great deal of Floatzel's energy. The barrage of Swift attacks kept coming, but the Light Screen lessened the damage. Roselia, let's finish this with Magical Leaf! The flurry of leaves bombarded Floatzel, who was unable to withstand the damage. Victory goes to the challenger, Steve and his Roselia!!

It's been a long time coming! I won, a Fen Badge!

Six months, four badges. Looks like this may take a year after all.

So, I was EV training my Metang in Sp. Def, and after about an hour (maybe a bit less), I notice something. It didn't get its ribbon. I say "maybe I just messed up my counting a bit, so I'm about to give it the power item, to continue and the last item in my bag (the one I had just taken from it) was the Power Bracer, which said it raised Atk EVs. I had forgot to switch Power Items. So the supposed 150 Sp. Def EVs were really just 50. Now I want to kill myself, but there are worse things that have happened to me, just too long to keep writing.

Has anything like this happened to you in D/P?

I was once EV training my Dratini. When it didn't get its Ribbon, I noticed something: instead of wearing a Macho Brace like I thought, it was holding an Everstone. I had to redo all of its EVs.

@Musashi-DESUDESUDESU: He means the Effort Ribbon, the Ribbon that Pokemon can get when they have full EV points. It's usually for making sure that a Poke's EVs are maxed out, and are useful in alerting you when your EVs are not full (in the situation Umbreon, here).

I was EV training my Metang, and sometimes I dream about playing Pokemon because I always do it before bed, so then I dreamed I finished its attack EVs then woke up and was confused and I was using the counter app so I lost the recording. And then I was all like OMG WAHT HAPPENED!

I lost track of the EVs on my Mr.Mime but I didn't have to start again.

If you know your pokemon's IVs you can work out how many EVs it's supposed to have using this website:

http://www.psypokes.com/dex/stats.php

But it has to be a high level or you could get it wrong.
