Tyranitar?

Or

Tyranitar - common knowledge, so learn it. Get it Dragon Dance, and an Adamant nature and then you're all set.

As always, it depends on your team. Tyranitar can destroy one's own team with Sandstream, making it difficult to handle without an Earth team, or at least some fellow ground- types (like Garchomp). Rhyperior makes a decent tank, especially with Rock Head, and can hit back with Earthquake, Stone Edge, or Megahorn.

Myself, I prefer Rhyperior.

Rhyperior with ROCK HEAD!!?? Solid rock, pplz. Tyranitar can't physical tank as well as Rhyperior and Rhyperior just can't special tank at all. I say Rhyperior because of solid rock :/

First is first, there is no such thing as a Special Tank. Tank = Good atk, HP, Def.

I would say Rhyperior, Tyranitar has been demoted in such a way in the 4th gen.

hmm since they both have high attacks and high defenses, well since Rhyperior does have 2 4X weakness to mostly sp. atk moves and Tyranitar has 1 4x weakness which most of the type is a Physical attack, so I go with Tyran

1 special attack on rhyperior can knock him down... that's why I'm not too much a fan of him...

despite the fact that he shoots geodudes... lol.

Actually, with Solid Rock, those weaknesses are reduced to 2.66x damage. That's the main reason why people use Rhyperior. :D

it can be a neutral damaging move, and it'll still knock it down... one of my buddies LOVES his Rhyperior but was saddened at how quick it can be taken down.

I have seen some people really utilize him, and in Battle Tower, I was caught off guard the first time I fought the tycoon since his Rhyperior had such a diverse (and surprising) moveset. It does have potential and it looks bulky and angry, and what not.

Rhyperior is not to take special attacks. End. He can easily handle Earthquakes though.

yea... true true.. he's not built for it... so just use him wisely and tacticly, and it should yeild decent results.. but then again... a lot of pokemon are like that.

how often do you guys come across a very solid non-uber mixed sweeper?

It would be better if we see your whole team first, then we could decide which suits your team the best.

Tyranitar can be useful while at the same time be killing your own team with a permanent Sandstream.

unless you have a team that can work with or around the sandstream... you know.. like skarms, blisseys w\ leftovers, garchomps(with the evil sandveil)...

what do you plan on doing with this particular team, anyways?

BIG. DEAL. Why would ya keep it on sp.attackers, anyway? Thats like saying "I hate Blissey-it falls to physical attacks".

tyranitar rhyperior
ATK134 140
DEF110 130
HP100 110

in the tank area, rhyperior wins, but overall, tyranitar is better.

Rhyperior - Actually, he makes a good Defensive Attacker. You can take advantage of his defense, switch it in on NVE attacks, then strike with a full forced CB attack. That's probably the most effective way to use him. Using him for Speed is pointless unless you're willing to run Jolly Nature and Rock Polish (which is a big waste if you ask me). Can also be used for a Physical Wall, but not very effectively.

Tyranitar - Tyranitar is pretty godly, but has his falls on some areas. A 4x Fighting weak is what makes Tyranitar cry, but that's where Chople Berry can be used to an advantage. One of the greatest Dragon Dance Sweepers in the game, next to Gyarados. Pretty much used for Speed instead of Defense. Sand Stream can make him somewhat resistant to Sp. Attacks due to Sandstorm's 1.5x Sp. Defense bonus since Tyranitar is of the ROCK Type.

Personally, I'd pick Tyranitar (not because he's my favorite Rock lol) since he's almost unstoppable.

I don't really like either that well, but I guess Ryperior, because Tyrannitar's sandstream is annoying to build a good team around.

One STAB surf (or grass knot from...hell, a Bidoof) drowns Rhyperior like the giant rock...uhh...thing that he is. Surprisingly, T-Tar can take most super effective hits with ease, seeing that his sp def is boosted during sand storms and his defenses are both above average. That means no OHKOs from Aura Sphere for the most part...though, I can't say the same about close combat. Overall, T-Tar is a far better Pokemon, and can sweep a team away with ease. If Rhyperior were a double wall, he'd be insane. But, unfortunately his weaknesses are easily taken advantage of. T-Tar wins hands down.
