Could you please spell correctly?

Electivire, used more, has a much better type coverage due to movepool

Electivire, no doubt. Good stats, great move pool, and FREAKIN' MOTOR DRIVE. A Motor-Driven Electivire has the potential to sweep entire teams.

I do like Magmortar for hatching eggs, however.

Magmotar looks like a megaman boss.......... and electivire has a socket on his back...

personally.... I'm more partial to 'vire... 1 weakness.. great move pool... learns ice punch... and yea... as mentioned earlier.... Motor Drive is a vicious abillity if its activated.

Magmortar is such a disappointment. Watching him use flamethrower in PBR is amazingly cool...but his defenses make me cringe. He's got such an amazing move pool but absolutely nothing to back it up. Electrivire is so much better to the point where it's almost laughable. Magmar really got the shaft in 4th gen.

Unless you talk specifically about D/P, threads don't go there. As you mean battling, I suppose, this goes better in Strategies & Movesets.

It really depends on which role you have open for your team. If you need a physical sweeper - Electivire. If you need a special sweeper - Magmortar.

But I'd have to say Electivire overall due to the great coverage it has to offer.

1.) Yanmega can't learn Baton Pass, so no passing Speed from the Dragonfly.
2.) Pinsir doesn't suck.
3.) Magmortar doesn't make it in OU, but if you need a BL Special Sweeper, Magmortar's your guy.

I love both of them. Electivire may hold the advantage, but both serve their purposes.

Magmortar doesn't get a Physical Ice attack, but it pretty much could run a pseudo Electivire set... (Hidden Power Ice?) He gets Cross Chop, Thunder Punch, Flare Blitz... (better than Fire Punch >.>) and his attack stat isn't that bad... Electivire doesn't have the higher Special Defense, but he gets a better speed stat... Magmortar and Electivire are equals in HP and Defense, Magmortar and Electivire also have respectable stats for both of their attacks... I figure people just don't use Magmortar because he's Fire type? while an Earthquake would more or less rape Electivire pretty quickly... can't confirm it exactly but it seems right... Choice Scarf would help Magmortar... eh I dunno, heck anyone could baton pass a speed boost to it.

Stealth Rock. X.x; That attack rapes 25% of Magmortar's attack away while doing minuscule damage to Electivire. The sad truth is that most Fire-types have a hard type in OU without Rapin Spinner support because of that attack.

Magmortar; Electivire is a load of fail. All Electric types should be Special Sweepers.

I personally go with Electivire due to Motor Drive, and Gengar and Starmie easily replace Magmortar.

Wouldn't a few layers of spikes also rape Electivire?

spikes deals the same damage with every other pokemon, doesn't matter on the type. (except for flying and levitating pokemon of course)

so if your saying spikes "rapes" electivire, your saying spikes "rape" everything non-flying;levitating.
