So i got this awsome shellder after like a million of them all IV's were 30-31 cept sp atk.

Then i find out he doesnt have rapid spin cuss the stupid kabuto leveld up to many times i guess and unlearned his egg move lol.

Anyway I have a choice to use him or not but then without rapid spin there would be no point.

So my question is this would you use him or should i go with this one ?

HP 19
Atk 25
Def 30
Sp def 29
Speed 4
Sp atk 8

Or this one ?

Hp 30
Atk 13
Def 30
Sp def 19
Speed 13
Sp atk 21

I relise this doesnt look to good but im really tired of breeding shellder lol hes a nightmare lol all his IV's are good cept his speed TBH, His HP is gonna be only 10 hp lower then the max which isnt a big deal and i dont need sp atk, but his speed eh is gonna be 20 below..

So yea suggestions? Go with it ?

Eh, I'd breed for a Bold natured one and shoot for good IVs in Defense, Special attack, and some decent HP IVs...

Rapid Spin ain't a necessity on him. So many other pokemon pull that off much better.

Na those pokemon are also different types. I need a water/ice type and i also need a spike layer and rapid spinner so i chose him. I would have to re-breed everything to get a bold one to much time to change everything not worth it.

Im just gonna go with the first one. Thx

He is Impish, i went for attack and his 5 turn ability for icicle spear ect, his base atk is higher then his sp atk anyway so it works with moves such as a explosion also.

Oh btw how are so many other pokemon better at rapid spin then him ? IMO they arent much better fortress for example, more HP Less Def, Less speed, More sp def less resistances but a big one to fire. Cloyster IMO is better less HP but more def more speed, and he has the types of moves i need

Cloyster is actually in many's opinion one of the worse Rapid Spinners. Huge weakness to Stealth Rock, TERRIBLE HP and Special Defense, weakness to common move-types (Fighting, Electric, Grass, Rock), and mediocre move pool. So sorry, many other Pokemon (Donphan, Forretress, Starmie, even Hitmontop) can pull it off quite well and definitely much better than Cloyster. You're logic is off base.

I see Cloyster as a Trapper with Spikes... Two Poison Spikes will BADLY poison EVERYONE that hits the ground......With very few execptions in between

CB explosion + ice shard plz. that is perhaps what cloyster pulls off the best, and maybe even better than a majority of other pokes.

What foes cloyster trap with? Clamp?

And aromatherapy and heal bell make toxic spikes useless. Every time.

and the ever common Gengar can just effortlessly switch into Toxic spikes and absorb them, thus wasting the time you have spent setting them up.

Normal Spikes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Toxic Spikes. Always.

Too bad these moves aren't too common.
About 90% of teams out there are susceptible to traps.

And I believe Gengar's Levitate only makes him immune to Toxic Spikes, not absorb them...

Not really.

It's poison type :/
Any good team has a heal beller. Besides, heracross will switch in and lol at you with a CBed, STABed, now guts boosted close combat. cloyster can't beat many pokemon straight up. why would you trap something that can easily kill you?

All poison types absorb toxic Spikes regardless of ability, i said Gengar due to it being the most common of them.

EDIT: I believe Samson has a good set for Cloyster which involves Ice Shard, Explosion and a Choice Band, not standard but effective.

Urk, when I said trap, I wasn't referring to Clamp, lulz.

I use trap in regards to Spikes/Toxic Spikes/SR

I once fought someone dumb enough to allow me to lay out max traps. XD

And I was only speaking on my own experiences, I've never run into a single HealBeller, I've come across a few Aromas though.

And I never tried the Gengar thing myself, so I assumed the levitate would make him totally void any effect from the spikes. :/

Rapid spin > spikes

Perhaps those people need to put a heal beller in their team.

Well, that and steels totally resist it, and there ar eMANY steels. Lucario, metagross, skarm, forry, steelix, bronzong, and so on...all wall toxic spikes horribly.
