I'm not too keen on having two fighting moves on Magmortar and Rock climb is less accurate than Headbutt too

FinalPaladin, please don't flood the topic with bad advice.

I advise you learn more about IVs and EVs first, and use Smogon's movesets and EV spreads and try to get a feel of your team. Try to conform to the standards (i.e. Smogon's movesets) the first time round, basically don't try to make your own movesets until you have a sufficient understanding of the game.

http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/

I want to address your misconception that your team needs to have a move hitting every type in the game. I would advise you to think of individual pokemon, not types. You don't need a move to hit every type in the game but what is sufficient to deal with whatever pokemon that pokemon may encounter.

For example, putting Thunder Fang on Gliscor is a bad move, although it hits Water pokemon it is questionable as said Water pokemon already pose a major threat to you, and Thunder Fang wouldn't do much to the most used Waters, Gyarados, Vaporeon, Milotic and Suicune.

Finalpaladin, please do some research before giving advice. Read the stickies and/or go to www.smogon.com.

But surely your Pokemon can encounter any other Pokemon type at all, and to have a wide variety of different type moves would mean that you're always ready and have at least one Pokemon with at least one move that's effective against it. At least that's what it seems like to me lol!

Someone once told me that half of my teams IVs/Evs were messed up and I should feed them berries to reduce them or start over again, but I think I've got a team with potential so I'm really trying to avoid doing that

I would like to clear this up.

If you dont breed for good ivs and get the appropriate evs, sadly you will loose no matter how good the movesets are.

Really? I don't understand them properly like, how do I know which ones to work on and is there a number I need to get them to? Aren't they supposed to add up to a certain number or something? I tried a calculator once but it kept coming back with error because my Pokemons stats were too high o.O

You should aim for coverage on all types, yes that is important, but what I'm saying is that only choose moves that beat the stuff your pokemon can beat in the first place, otherwise its a waste of space.

Another thing to note is that you also have to think in terms of Base Power instead of just aiming for supereffective hits. For example, you shouldn't give Lucario Blaze Kick, as aside from Grass / Poisons (which are rare), Close Combat will always hit harder as it is a stronger move, 180 Base Power after STAB meaning it would do more than supereffective Blaze Kick, 170 Base Power.

I advise you read the stickied guides on IVs and EVs for a better understanding of the IV / EV system. Assuming you trained them ingame your pokemon's EVs should be sort of messed up, for lack of a better description, so the EV reducing berries allow you to start over.

The calculator didn't work, because:

Pokemon stats are determined by IVs, Base Stat and EVs.

That calculator is for calculating IVs, so it won't take into consideration the EVs gained. It is supposed to used the pokemon with 0 EVs in that stat.

Okay so I think I'll keep the Pokemon I can't train anymore and try and EV train the other 3.

How do I know what role the Pokemon play so I know which EVs to work on? And I've got to get each stat to be 252?

No. You have a max of 510 EV's, so you can't get 252 in all of them. You need to pick which ones you're going to train. For example, Alakazam is an awesome special sweeper, but he's too frail to really care about investing in his defenses. So, give Zam 252 SPATK and SPD EV's, and the last 6 can go wherever you want. Or, for Infernape, a mixed sweeper, you don't have to go that route. Most Infernape usually carry 252 SPATK EV's to power up his special moves, 232 SPD EV's to outspeed base 105 speed Pokemon (Manectric, Mismagius), and 24 in ATK cause Close Combat's got 120 BP.

Right, well the 3 I've got left are

Magmortar
210/162/141/227/172/171

Breloom
126/155/101/75/72/92

Hitmonchan
75/67/62/38/73/60

Which two from each do you think I should work on?

Scrap Hitmonchan. You already have Breloom (who's arguably much more useful).
For Breloom and Magmortar, well, there are different sets for each.

Look them up on Smogon.

'Kay, so my team consists so far of Dragonite, Scizor, Tyranitar and Gengar.

Now, I need two pokes; one has to be either Lapras, Cloyster, Walrein or Milotic; which would be my best bet?

And lastly, I need a poke that can counter the current teams major weaknesses.. hopefully with good sp. def because thats what I'm lacking but still a good attack set since I'm only battling in game. I was thinking of a Camerupt, but they have so many weaknesses.. and the defense makes it easy to kill.

Any suggestions?

Rhyperior: adamant nature: 252 hp, 252 attack, 31 attack iv

moveset:
stone edge
megahorn
earthquake
hammer arm

Slowbro: bold nature 252 hp, 252 defense, 25 defense iv, 31 hp iv

moveset:
surf
calm mind
trick room
slack off

Bronzong: careful nature 252 hp, 252 special defense

moveset:
trick room
gyro ball
iron defense
rest

So far i really llike the slowbro and rhyperior but grass types are giving me trouble, the team completely destroys sweaper teams though, id really love suggestions on my 3rd slot pokemon or a different moveset for him , im thinking about explosion instead of iron defense. Also it would help if some1 couold told me some pokemon i should add to get a 6 team.

For Bronzong use this set here:

Gyro ball
Trick room
Hypnosis
Explotion

Give him a relaxed nature and this Evs: 252 HP / 152 Atk / 8 Def / 96 Sp.Def

You can take trick room from slowbro and replace it with ice beam, grass knot or psychic (recomend ice beam). For rhyperior i would take hammer arm and put ice fang, and you will have less trouble with grass types.
For the rest of the team i suggest using togekiss (awesome special sweeper), salamance ( try out the dragon dance set) and jolteon (130 base speed and nice sp. attack)

Yes and no. Hidden Power is determined by your IVs, which are mostly random but can still be inherited from the parents.
