Well, my team has a successful staller that can even stall Palmer for a very long while. Try using Cresselia as a staller. High Defensive stats, Substitute, Moonlight, Toxic, and Leftovers = 1 staller.

I said what I use about 1 or 2 pages ago.

In a matter of opinion, out of these three moves, protect, light screen, reflect, which one would benefit me more in the battle tower? I know reflect and light screen could benefit the whole team, but protect seems pretty useful if used correctly.

As a Battle Tower maniac myself, I'd say Duel Screens are far more useful than Detect or Protect.

For example, I use both screens on my lead Yawn Uxie, Reflect aiding Calm Mind Lucario, Light Screen for my Garchomp. With Yawn providing ample time to set up and sweep.

I don't really see what you'll get much out of Protect, UNLESS, you're using a toxic stalling strategy, then it'll be useful. So overall, I'd say it depends overall on what you'd like to accomplish, if you want to be aggressive and set up sweep, screens. If you want to play more of a defensive game, Protect.

When used correctly is iffy, because if the AI starts setting up Double Team, Protect won't save you, while screens can prolong team member survivability and more of a chance to hit. They certainly both have positives and negatives, but I prefer screens.

Glad to, anytime. Need any more Battle Tower help don't be afraid to contact me. ;o

Oh! And I forgot to mention, another reason Protect seems useful to people is the 'scouting' ability. This is useless. Why? This page that details Trainer's Pocket Monster detail. So scout for yourself, no need for protect to do it for you.

Jumpluff @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
Nature: Timid / Jolly
EVs: 188 Defense / 68 Special Defense / 252 Speed
- Encore
- Sleep Powder / U-turn
- Substitute
- Leech Seed

Simple annoying strategy and SubSeeding. It's one of the fastest SubSeeders.

Timid nature, Natural Cure
252sp.atk/252speed/6HP

Surf
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Psychic/Grass Knot

For the Battle Tower and your team, this serves as a Fire/Ice resist for the short time, and Starmie will take out other waters/fires aimed at your other two guys.

What should I make with this? Or more so, should I make anything at all?

Mudkip - #258 (Impish)
HP: 26
Att: Invalid
Def: 25 - 26
SpA: 25 - 26
SpD: 25 - 26
Speed: 4 - 5

I was thinking.....

[email protected]
Impish Ev: 252 hp/60 defense/60 sp defense/138 attack
-Curse
-Stealth Rock
-Waterfall
-Earthquake

I did some quick math, and with 60 Ev in defense, and sp defense I get at least 300+ in both, I need max hp, and the rest into attack for stab.

Why do you need a Special Sweeper to pair with those two, anyway? o.o' In the Battle Tower, using cookie cutter Pocket Monsters like 2 physical & 1 special with absolutely no strategy will only go but so far. (Double Teaming will get you, and fast) Thus I encourage you to find another Pocket Monster (like a lead) that can not only get your team in the right direction, but solidify the chance of sweeping. There's plenty of strategies out there, you don't need to pack it full of three sweepers.

Ehhhh, just my two cents~

I'll post my Battle Tower team in a bit. :V

What natures do Houndoom and Scizor have? (Any EVs on Houndoom? o.o)

One Pocket Monster with Thunder Wave (or any crippling status, really) puts your entire team out of commission. Houndoom can buffer Will-o-wisp, but it'll never enjoy sleep or par.

A lot of threats stand out to me.

[ 466 Lapras Adamant Lum Berry Dragon Dance Body Slam Waterfall Confuse Ray HP/Atk ]
  • Confuse / possible par. Will set up in Salamence's face, DG or EQ won't do a whole lot thanks to Lapras' monster Hit Points. Once fast enough, Waterfall will have even more fun.
[ 522 Electrode Timid Shuca Berry Magnet Rise Charge Beam Hyper Beam Thunder Wave Sp. Atk/Speed ]
  • Say hello to your team's worst Nightmare, status.
[ 589 Jolteon Naughty Razor Claw Thunder Wave Thunderbolt Iron Tail Flash Atk/Sp. Atk/Speed ]
  • It'll wave any of them. You have Salamence to hit with Earthquake, but once your Dragon is paralyzed, your sweep is pretty much done for.
[ 739 Crobat Timid Lum Berry Hypnosis Roost Sludge Bomb Dark Pulse HP/Speed]
  • Hypnosis that outruns every member and Dark Pulse chews away with more flinching. D:
[ 880 Gyarados Adamant Chesto Berry Waterfall Earthquake Rest Dragon Dance Atk/Speed]

[ 893 Garchomp Jolly Focus Sash Earthquake Dragon Claw Fire Fang Crunch Atk/Speed]
  • Do I even have to say why here?
[ 908 Regigigas Careful Lum Berry Substitute Double Team Thunder Wave Return HP/Atk/Def ]
  • That'll really hurt if it sets up.

Oh, and Double Team Discharge Zapdos also runs through your team. :x I'm kinda surprised you even made it that far. Actually, double teamers like Rotom would toy around with you. (Thunder Waving you in the process)

And Palmer even looks to be quite a tough pill to swallow.

#21,
Milotic will hypnosis Mence then Ice Beam, or anyone then Hydro Pump.
Rhyperior laughs at every party member. Even if you have Earthquake, it'll Ice Beam. Scizor lives in fear of Flamethrower, even if you have Houndoom to absorb it, how do you stop it? Because Rhyperior resists it regardless, then Houndoom'll be afraid of Rock Wrecker. I guess you could let Houndoom die for Salamence to set up on the rest turn, but even then, its gotta walk through two very bulky Ice Beam Pocket Monsters.

#49,
Regigigas has Ice Punch for Mence, Brick Break for Houndoom; and Palmer has Heatran to bark Scizor up a tree. Cress just sets up Calm Minds, moonlights off any damage.

tl;dr
To me, I just don't see how you win in Tier 4 effectively. (Battles 49+)

Yeah, but once your twaved, you're in a lot more trouble. Majority of them will set up, or Confuse you. We all know how much hax Battle Tower has, so it'll be more troublesome, just saying.

Oh, I didn't know you had Ttar when you faced him. I thought Houndoom has been there, I'll read better next time. XP

I'm not sure if Houndoom is the best option, but if you're willing to face a number a threats & status, go for it. I mean, you've got 100 so far, have some fun with different ones if you like then.

Wait... Why is your Houndoom Jolly? That nature's only going to hinder him, as it reduces his SPATK.
