I have both of my grandmas left. He had pneumonia, and that's what is actually got him.

I don't think I've ever seen an actual serious topic in the DCC. o.o

I'm in the hospital all the time, but not for medical reasons. My dad is a doctor/program director and the big hospital for my city, so whenever we need to go see him at work for whatever reason I have to go through all the medical wards and stuff x__x;

Yeah, I'm in a similar situation to you, Aere. My mother's a nurse and whenever I go to see her at work we'll often go through medical wards to do so.

I haven't been in a hospital for a while, since my grandfather was admitted after having a heart attack. He had to get a triple bypass surgery, and I'm very happy that he got through it wonderfully and recovered incredibly well. :)

I luckily have never really needed to go to the hospital. I went to the emergency room once when I dislocated my shoulder when I was three, and then I've been there to see specialists every so often aside from that. I probably have to get surgery this year though (or I hope to, anyway) but I'm not sure yet. :\ It'd be my first "real" trip to a hospital.

I've never had to go to the hospital XD;
I went once when a friend of mine was there for a visit, but that's about it.

...Honestly, I was scared out of my mind, I hate hospitals D:

I don't mind hospitals too much. I hate the waiting areas of them a lot because they're just... stressful. x_x; The paediatric areas are always not so bad though. I remember them a lot better because my orthodontist in Halifax was located in a hospital. We'd walk through the children's ward and it would always be really brightly coloured with toys and such, so that was okay.

But the actual hospital can be bland and just... I dunno. :\ Not THAT bad since I was never there for anything serious, but I can see how it would be anxiety-inducing.

I just don't like being around so many people hurting like that ;-;
And the hospital she was at was kind of weird. It actually had people muttering, walking down the hall ._.;

The waiting areas of hospitals are... killers. I remember I had to wait in one because I had a wicked flu and all the clinics were closed. It was 8:00 pm and there was already a massive lineup of people in the waiting room. It was also during that SARS epidemic, so I had to wear a mask, which was very uncomfortable, because of my sick breath and the fact that it was hard to breathe in it.

I was in that waiting room for four hours, and then when I was finally put in a room, I had to wait an additional hour just to get a doctor. All while wearing that mask.

...The actual appointment itself took no more than fifteen minutes. He did a check up, gave me a prescription, and I was back home after one A.M. :/

I mean, I understand that they deal with the higher-priority people first, but, still... it's a killer.

I last went to a hospital because of injury/sickness about nine or ten years ago. I honestly can't remember why, but I've been quite lucky with injuries and sicknesses throughout my life.

It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't like... EVERYTHING in Canada that's like that. Seriously, I hate the waiting lists for everything. Whether you're sitting in a room waiting or waiting for a specialist, that wait is the only thing I don't like about universal health care. XD;

Man that sucks though. :| And I thought the wait times at my local clinic were bad. Guess I can't complain. 8D;

Oh God waiting rooms ._.

I hate those, especially at the dentist when you KNOW you have a cavity and you KNOW you're gonna get the drill. It's just a matter of WHEN at that point.

I mean, I understand if someone's having something that's completely high-priority, but... I was behind someone who was completely fine. Seriously. Yes, that's what I don't like about universal health care, either. XD;

The wait times at this clinic I used to go to were awful. I think they messed up the wait lists too a couple times, because I was behind people who came in after me once. XD; It was so weird, but I'm glad that only happened once.

I can empathise with that, Chikara. Back when I was little I used to hate waiting for the dentist, knowing that that painful needle was coming. (Still, far better than the alternative of having no anesthetic).

I hate cavities because sometimes they MAKE you get the freezing. I don't mind needles and everything, but I hate the freezing because it makes your face all weird the whole day. I always refuse it because the minimal pain that comes from the filling procedure is nothing compared to the annoyance of a frozen face. Last time they made me get the freezing though and they had to do it 3 times because it didn't set in properly. <_< Ugh.

That happened to me recently when I had an appointment. It was for like... 2:10 and I got in to see the doctor at 4:00 PM. I was SO pissed off. XD; Especially since the appointment took all of 10 minutes and didn't help in the least.

I have a low tolerance to pain, so for me, a weird face for half the day (usually it doesn't go for a whole day for me) is better than the pain of a filling procedure.

I have a pretty high pain tolerance for most things. When it comes to teeth, I can deal. Dentists just... never believe me. XD;

"Trust us, it will hurt too much."
"That's okay, I'll go without freezing. I'm sure."
"...okay."

And then I'm fine through the whole thing. I mean, it'll hurt, yeah, but at least I chose to deal with it myself so I don't complain. (I complain like hell if it hurts in the SLIGHTEST when they insist on freezing me though. There's a reason they're putting the freezing in and damn if I'm not taking advantage of it. <_<)

The one time I had a cavity I had to get the freezing. It was so annoying, I couldn't drink anything for the rest of the day. :[

Oh god, I hate waiting D: I just had another physical to be approved for something else, but while I was there I had to wait for 30+ minutes just for the doctor to come in, then another 45+ minutes in my boxers for him to come back and actual give me the physical. Wtf D:

Do they ever pick up on that point and say "if you think it hurts under freezing, aren't you glad we didn't do it without?" or something like that?

No, they just go "oh whoops we didn't put enough on, lol" and add more. :( Though honestly I think it's just because they don't wait long enough for the freezing to actually settle before they start drilling. So then when they add more, it just compounds the effect instead of helping (since by the time they finish adding it, the original freezing has usually kicked in).
