I've been wondering this for awhile much like my other threads like this lol. What Pokemon types have the best Pokemon for competitive play? I think (and I'm pretty sure most people think) it's Dragon and second is Ghost.

And who told you this?Dragon types get so easily knocked out by ice type moves. There is no better type. You can only hope to get the right combination of pokes together to make a good competitive team

Why whenever I post a thread like this, there's always someone who takes it way too seriously? (I'm sure you're going to say something like "because my threads are noobish" or some other generic insult like that which means absolutely nothing.)

-Anyway, most people just like Dragon-Type Pokemon because they're powerhouses and can learn a very good selection of moves, more than any other Type, and can work well in parties in multiples because they can become very good Sweepers and of course I know you have to get the right combination of different Types. You must really like talking to everyone like they're new to the game to try and create some kind of self gratification.

-Don't be yet another person on here who's going to try arguing with me about something so ridiculous, I don't care what you have to say if it's trying to insult me or continue this. If you do, then I'll just put you on ignore. No, this is not me "running away" from you or me taking your comment too seriously, it's simply me ending a meaningless confrontation. Now go crazy on your reply to entertain yourself.

Actually no.I had no intentions of Making another post after the one i said.I just said my peace and thats it so please dont try to auto lump me in the same catigory as other people so you can make yourself feel good.I could careless what other people have said about your past threads.I just dont feel theres a specific type.I had no intentions of insulting you so save your over reaction for someone that takes everything too seriously

Actually, I don't think that any type is the best fro competitive battling. All types have their strengths and weaknesses, in the same way individual Pokémon do. That's the whole point of constructing a team: for other Pokemon to cover your weaknesses.

you pretty much need a team with varying strengths and weakness`s and do things like a water pokemon and a rock pokemon together so if sum1 sends out a electric pokemon to take out ur water use the rock 1 so they can back each other up

Dragon is one of the WORST types actually, almost everyone will carry a pokemon who knows ice beam, on top of that, almost all used dragons have a double weakness to ice (Flying/Dragon or Dragon/Ground), which means even a weak ice beam can 1HKO them.

In my opinion, Water is a good one, just because not a lot of people use grass or thunder pokemon in their teams, I prefer Ice, just because Steel and Fire are also uncommon. Like you said, Dragon is common, which makes ice good, and Normal is oddly common as well o.O

The best type to attack with is Dragon, only one resistance that can be easily covered by Fire or Ground (which most Dragon types can learn anyway)

Fire/Grass is a good combination, Heatran being one of the only pokemon not to get hit for at least normal effectiveness

Psychic/Electric has good coverage as well.

However in terms of most resistances, I'd have to say that goes to Heatran (Fire/Steel) sure he has a 4x weakness, and two 2x weaknesses, then he has two types that hit for normal effectiveness and the rest he resists... only being able to be hit for decent damage by five out of seventeen types (albeit most of the five are relatively common)

Unless of course Ubers are involved in which case Dialga is the resistance overlord... Again it is hit by five out of seventeen types, but lacking the 4x weakness that Heatran has

EDIT: Ghost typing really isn't that functional, sure you come with 2 immunities, but with only 2 resistances as well it doesn't really work well as a defensive type

Forgot to mention: Spiritomb and Sableye are used most commonly for one reason: They have no weakness unless Foresight, Odor Sleuth, or Miracle Eye is used on them, in which case, they gain a 2x weakness to Fighting with Foresight/Odor or a 2x weakness to Psychic with Miracle Eye.

That's probably where you got the idea of ghost from. Dark/Ghost has the unique stats to not have any weaknesses unless the aforementioned moves are used.

i like poison types, tho psychic and ground weakness makes them vulnerable, they are powerful and the effects are nasty

muk is a killing machine, one of my favs.. just gotta switch him when alakazam comes out lol

but you have to remember, anything that has obvious strength gets exploited and played out.. most ppl will know how to handle the stuff that's transparently powerful

you gotta think outside the [] <--- box :D

I think Dark/Ghost Types because they have no weaknesses. The only Dark/Ghost typess have very horrible stats though.

Squall, about the first reply, as you say, don't take things too seriously. Sagat's answer had nothing insulting or wrong.

Also, have you heard about the forum called Strategies & Movesets?
