I've noticed people talk about chains when talking about shinies. Do they mean when they catch one, it seems others congregate to them as well?

Also, I heard the odds of catching one is 1 in like 30,000. Are there certain times you can catch them? It just seems like it is so easy to catch them!

No its not easy, chaining is with the pokeradar. It is very unlikely to find one. Like finding an albino earthworm!

For the record, the actual probability is around 1 in 8000. Chaining is pretty much the only way to actually find shiny Pokemon.

So - may I ask how exactly chaining works? I'm just new to Diamond and I'm sure I'll end up asking eventually. =P

There is a chaining guide in the D/P FAQ in one of the stickied threads. You should be able to find info that you need there.

Honestly, I have no idea. I never bothered with it (shiny Pokemon are ugly anyway, on top of being weak in competitive battles).

However, there are a ton of guides on the internet and Youtube. I think we actually had a guide here, but I can't seem to find it...
