I will happily listen to most music. Im a metal head at heart, but my favorite album everrrr is timbaland, Im off to a rave on friday (Raaaaaave :P) and saw paramore last week. I listen to trance before i go to sleep and wake up to indie music.
But play me gangsta rap, speed garage or westlife and i will hunt you down and murder you :)

Well sweeties...

Yeah, I listen to rap all the time. Here's who I listen to:

Tupac
Eminem
Pimp C
Big Moe
Trae
Fat Pat
Z-Ro
Hawk
Lil' Keke
Lil Flip
Lil Wayne
T.I.
Snoop Dogg
Busta Ryhmes
Paul Wall
Jay Z

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Also, not to start a flame war or anything but Soulja Boy's boy is not anyway considered "rap" in my honest opinion. He can't rap, all he got is fan girls and hype going for him.

:O don't be dissing soulja boy!
Saying that he's tried to get into the big time and has ended up creating the new macarana :P
But still, travis barkwer remix is the best of both worlds, rock and rap
Which brings me nicely onto linkin park, the best rappers everrrrrr

I like to listen to:
Punk
Rock
Progressive Rock
a little bit of metal

anything else bores the mess out of me.

I cannot stand rap for more than a minute. Agh! That soulja boy dump is horrible... ;___;
Though, that's just my opinion. >.>

I listen to a lot of trance, electronica, techno, house, rock, heavy metal, indie, and power pop.

I'm only able to fall asleep to trance music :) heh.

One thing I love about rap, though, is the concept of "Haters". Basically, if someone doesn't like you, or says something bad about you, they're a hater. And if they're a hater, you can just ignore them or curse them out, even if said "hater" knows more than you do, or is just plain right.

I swear, it's just like DeviantArt.

I don't like 95% of rap/hip-hop simply because I've just never liked it. I grew to hate it but it actually isn't a bias like most of my musical preferences / opinions are.

Also I'd be more than happy to hate on Soulja boy because he fits right into the stereotype of a rapper...worthless songs, over hyped nonsense, no meaning...mostly they mean the same thing.

Meaningful hip-hop is the little I'll listen to.

Also somebody mentioned Walk this Way by Aerosmith, which is actually a personal favorite of mine though I wouldn't call it rap ;)

Two rap groups, namely NWA and Public Enemy.
Outside of those two, I don't listen to much, minus a few Method Man tracks now and then.

And I haaate hip-hop. It's commercialized, overdone, stupid crap.

It's not. But the Run DMC version that was mentioned sure is. I prefer the Aerosmith version, however. The Run DMC version just has no flow in the vocals, IMO.

Sweet you like NWA and Public Enemy you are so cool they are two fine examples of fine Gangsta Rap.

Anyone who does not know who NWA and Public Enemy are should listen to there stuff and stop the dissing of the genre.

I am a big hip hop fan, and also RnB.

I tend to lose myself in the beat of a song, and much less so the rapping. So if you talk about the difference between straight rap, and then Hip Hop, there is a difference.

But anyone who know's me on PC knows I love my Hip Hop. I think it has developed mainly from being engrossed into the basketball culture. I am always playing and watching the sport, so am generally subjected to the music on a regular basis, and basically fell in love with it.

Mainstream rap/hip hop: I'm not gonna lie, I do like quite a bit of it. I wouldn't call Soulja Boy rap/hip hop at all, but 1 or 2 of his songs are catchy, but he really has given the genre 'Hip Hop' a very bad reputation.

Unfortunately many people listen to 1 Soulja Boy song and instantly think all other hip hop is the same, which any right minded person would know it's actually quite diverse.

Now, the stuff I listen to mainly is what some refer to as 'true' hip hop. I tend to go for artists such as Mos Def, A Tribe Called Quest, The Foreign Exchange, Jurrassic 5 etc, though also go for plenty of new stuff as well. My all-time favourite artist is probably Jay-Z.

This is a song I would refer to as summing up exactly the sort of music I like. The beat and rhythm to this song for me is incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU2q-r_9GfQ

Obviously it's not to everyone's taste, but to me its like the greatest song of all time.

I hate almost everything thats on the radio, its all designed to be stuff you listen to in the club and dance to and thats it, real hip hop and rap is meant to be a form of story telling not this crap that its become today, but there are some artists out there who i respect like Jay-z, Nas, Lupe Fiasco but i listen mainly to underground rap like Immortal Technique, Lous Logic, Styles Of Beyond, Fort Minor(i guess its sort of mainstream), Dj Khalil (not khaled hes an idiot -_- ), some oldies like NWA, Beastie Boys, Tupac, Biggie, and several others...i rap myself so i am pretty much in love with the genre just not what its become in these mordern times.

i love rap, though not american rap in the slightest.
only american rappers I ever listen to are:
Outlawz
Immortal Technique
300 by Fat Joe (One song :P)

otherwise i only listen to Uk Rap/Grime/Garage

JME
Wiley
Ghetto
Sway
Bashy
Akala

plus tons of more 'unknown' british rappers, those are the more popular ones. Obviously I love rock and other genres as well, best cross-over song for grime and rock, arctic monkeys brianstorm remix featuring Random Impulse. Awesome remix.

Yeah myself I prefer American Hip Hop, mainly because I'm living in a basketball type culture.

But I do listen to some grime as well.

JME is....SERIOUS! XD. I saw him at Camden Park last year. I really want one of them Boy Better Know shirts as well!

Sway is good as well, and Bashy is good, very individual, has his own sound.

Dizzee Rascal is good too, again very individual style, and is 1 of hardly any UK rappers who are making it in America.

Yes I listen to it!....

Yeah Ludacris is awesome, some of his songs are funny as hell too!

Stat Quo is good, I heard one of his songs on an NBA Live game for my PS2 and listen to some of his stuff now.

I'm not a big fan of it. I can't stand most of it, I have only a few favorite songs of that genre. Most of the songs are about drugs and offensive to women [sometimes]. J-Hop/rap is better though.
But I love RnB ^^

I reccommend those who picked the second or third option to check out Lupe Fiasco or Kanye West; two great examples of why rap doesn't always have to be about degrading women, guns or drugs.
