^^ Great videos right there. Now those are pretty good. =D

Well I do admit one thing, I do listen to some mainstream rap. And some of it is okay because of the beat. They will usually have a wonderful beat, and I can't help but listen to it. I try not to listen their lyrics, which most of the time are awful. Because of the cussing and stuff. Some of it isn't bad, but others are really bad. For example, Soulja Boy, Paul Wall, Lil Flip, Young Joc, Young Jeezy, Dipset, etc. I won't listen to these guys.

I will listen to 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Ludacris, Snopp Dogg, Ja Rule, etc. These are the mainstream rappers, and some of their stuff isn't bad. I blame the wonderful beats they use, lol. Their lyrics can be questionable, but I try to block them out of my mind. But most of the time they do rap something meaningful. But I will get to that another time.

I really do miss the old school rap. Now that was wonderful rap right there. *sigh*

I don't know how rap is like today. We get some meaningful stuff now and then, but it is underrated because of the mainstream stuff. And it isn't looking too good. Now the mainstream rappers are having a tough time. As long Common, Kanye, Lupe, Talib, Mos Def are around...maybe they will save hip-hop.

That is all I got to say. I am done. ^_^

True true, I admit myself I listen to some mainstream rap. You do get the odd good song coming out. For example I listen to Fabolous a lot, Cassidy isn't bad, also Juelz Santana. I can name some more. Mainly because they have some hot beats! Even 50 Cent has some good songs, his earlier albums in particular. He might get a lot of hate from people, but he's bringing home the money, so he has the last laugh!

Also, Jay-Z in my opinion is the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time). As a rapper, producer and as a businessman. His Rocafella records franchise is just huuuuge. Massive amount of respect for what he has done. He is old school/new school, a real good mix. Also earning a lot of money from his part ownership in the NBA team the New Jersey Nets, which he is now moving to his hometown Brooklyn I think in a few years.

But like my post with the videos in said, nothing beats the real, gritty hip hop.

YES! I love Jay-Z! He is the greatest of all time. He is a triple threat, lol. Most of his songs do have a lot of meaning, and the beats he uses are so awesome! He is well respected that is for sure. Like I said if Jay-Z, Kanye, Talib, Common, Lupe, Pharrell, Mos Def are around...maybe they will save hip-hop. ^^

Agreed. =D

Rap is basically all I listen to. Mainstream rap is ok, but I like underground stuff alot..especially Lil Wayne's mixtapes. His rhymes are always on point..
Hmm I can't say I'm a fan of Lil Wayne. In some of his raps it's almost impossible to understand him. At a concert he had in London he got booed of the stage and people were throwing bottles at him according to my friend. Some of his songs are alright though. But again, it's all down to individual taste =)

I really like Lil' Wayne and if he wasn't a gangsta rapper, I'm sure a lot of other people would like him too. The things he says in his raps just flow so beautifully, it's just too bad he uses his skill to talk about money, guns and girls.

first of all i have to say that rap/hip hop is not my world...I appreciate "hand-made" music, like rock, indie, hardcore and ska-punk, more than spoken lyrics
the most us-rap coming to us is in germany gangsta-rap, and unfortunately it´s spread by 13-15 year old idiots walking around with their handy and beating up people for nothing (but only if their at least 5 and the victim is alone)...it seems to be pretty cool for those morons...i´ve got trouble with some of them for...erm i still dunno why they had beaten me up...

but it´s definetely sure that you can´t put all in one pot!!
one of my friend is listening to RnB/hip hop...and he´s a beatboxer...he gives a **** on gangsta stuff and such people made me think that there is something worth listen in this whole "over-genre"

oh and before i forget those 2 german hip hop bands are doing the same with me:
1.die fantastischen 4
a great band with great songs
2. fettes brot
uhm...these guys make mostly "fun-hip hop", but there are really some serious songs from them (if you understand a bit german, listen to "an tagen wie diesen")

Wu-Tang's where it's at. Ghostface Killah, GZA, Method Man, the works.
Dipset's ill, too, as well as MF Doom and all his wonderful incarnations.
Quasimoto is another one of my favorites. Low Class Conspiracy is a hell of a song.
I like Kanye a little and love Talib Kweli, but I'm not the biggest fan of pretty much most of the **** played on the radio and MTV today.
Oh, and The Cool Kids are insane. Bringing back that great, big-beat hip hop of old.

Hate it.
The only reason i like it still being around is so "Weird Al" can Parody it.

I'm ok with rap. I used to hate it but there are some freggin catchy rap songs out there. I actually like Soujla Boy because it's like a meme. Rap can create memes. Something that rock isn't that good at, is making their music really really catchy.
I know a few rap songs I like but I dont know their names. One's from Dance Dance Revolution though although it seems more like hip hop. Come to think of it I have no clue what the heck it is but it's just weeeeird. And I freggin love it. The song is almost entirely sang and I cant tell if they're lyrics or just human rythym. If anyone knows what song this is (youtube), I'd love to know.

Honestly I dont have much exposure to rap other than at my school which is located in a very mixed area. I dont watch tv, my parents only listen to classic rock on the radio and my sister (where I get all of my regular music (non videogame/anime music) despises most rap)

I love rap but that isn't the only kind of music I like. I don't hate people that hate rap because they heard one bad rap song (Solja Boi I'm talking to you). You have to take the good with the bad sometimes, which is kinda hard to do since there are alot of bad rap songs. Most of the rappers that are talked about (Ludacris, Kanye, Lil Wayne) I like. Some of the old (Tupac especially Changes, Brenda's got a baby, and Dear Momma.)rappers like back in the 90's were pretty good.

Chea, I listen to a lot of rap. And I say rap because most hip-hop just annoys me. Jay-Z 90's > Jay-Z 2000's. Nas 90's > Nas 2000's (although Nas is still mah boi). BIG, Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Puff Daddy, Coolio, those are all rappers that I really enjoy. About the only guys I can stand on a regular basis these days are Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye, Lil Wayne and Lupe Fiasco. Most artist's flows these days are really generic.

Oh and I listen to rock and other genres too lol.

In general mainstream rap, I dislike it greatly. That 'Soulja Boy' stuff is horid ;-; I mean have you READ THE LYRICS? -gourges eyes out from the horid-ness of it all-
At least rappers like eminem have SOME meaning in some of his songs. Common is pretty good.

Yeah Eminem has some good songs, but even some of his more well known songs are a bit too 'commercial' for me.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again: Mos Def is one of the best rappers around.

Also to throw in the mix: Talib Kweli, Common, A Tribe Called Quest, Mobb Deep (Pre G-Unit days), Nas, Jay-Z, Zion I, T.I. (not including the songs he's done with DJ Khaled, T-Pain etc) and more.

I think Nas' song 'Hip Hop Is Dead' is very true *glares at joke artists like T-Pain'.

People dont understand Eminem,Common, Souljaboy are not grouped together.

Not all rap is about Sex,Money and Girls
Not all rap is rap...
Souljaboy is not rapping in Crank dat souljaboy it is a dance song and thats all it will be
Souljaboy is not a hardcore rapper he is a rapper for girls...
Eminem is a hard rapper but most of his songs are gay... and i mean Guy on Guy gay
Theres all diffrent kinds of rap so dont just put it all in one
Theres songs, dance, hard core, freestyle theres girls that rap
Mariah Carey raps Lil Mama raps both 2 diffrent raps but they are raps
Souljaboy kinda raps lol Flo Rida raps 2 diffrent raps but they are raps
2pac rappED Flavor Flav rappED one is alive one is dead but they both rapped diffrent styles
2pac rapped about everything his mom, the hood, girls, bad times, fast rap, and slow song raps

So dont say rap sucks and is bad... because not all rapping is bad
maybe the people here hate rap because they are not very smart and group everything together
They here one song (YULLLLL) and thing the whole rap genre sucks
I use to hate songs that are rock ( idk what to call them lol i just know its not rap)
I dont like that screamin crap but i can listen to the songs like Hey there Delilah and Check yes

So instead of saying all rap sucks just by listening to the artist that are horrible
go listen to some real rap or atleast learn what rap is before you calling it retarted and pointless
like screaming! xD
