Well, this has been a long time coming. Long story short: you may now exchange Friend Codes freely and publically.

We already allow other gaming handles to be exchanged and you can trade Pokémon Friend Codes through your profile, so this is only logical.

The original reasoning behind the decision to ban the exchange of Friend Codes was that Nintendo requested it. Even at there own forum members could not share Friend Codes. But, given what I said above - I've now changed this. So, below are the rules for most gaming handles:

Friend Codes (and similar handles) are designed to be exchanged between people who you know well and trust. To protect your privacy, we advise that you do not give out personal information such as last name, phone number, birth date, age, school, e-mail or home address when communicating with others. But, of course, this is your own decision. Your game experience may change during online play.

So, have fun. All I ask is that you are careful with who and how you disclose such information.
