Ew... chavs. I've heard the horror stories about them. XD

Anyway, I've never actually cursed before and don't have any plans to do so, but I'm not the type of person who flinches every time I hear a "bad word". I honestly prefer to be around people who don't curse because that's what I'm used to in real life, but I won't have a nervous breakdown if someone slips one out in front of me. I guess that, like most people, I've become pretty desensitized to them because of all the movies and music that you hear them in nowadays.

That said, I don't think it's appropriate how they're often thrown around so carelessly by people who say they're "just words". Sure they are, but they're not the kind you'd hear an innocent little 5 year-old saying. Or your typical, sweet elderly lady. It's one thing to use them when you're with a friend who wouldn't be offended in the least, but if you're out in public, especially around families with little kids? Show some respect. At least you'll come off as being more mature than most teenagers these days.
I tend to curse casually, at least around friends. I never curse in the presence of anyone older than me, and I don't tolerate any kid who curses anywhere by my earshot, even if they aren't in my family.

I also tend to try to use other words over swear words, as they do annoy me, especially when other people curse. People are generally surprised when I curse, and I wonder why. I suppose I curse less than I think. Ta hell.

Well in my school they are just words, well when no teachers are around...
Around adults and other people who are displeased by it I tend not to use them but around my peers which use it and treat them as "just words" I use it (Yes, the F word is just a word in my school...).

I tend to up severity in profanity when I am angry.

Same here, I can't stand hearing little kids curse... especially around adults. They're either showing off or trying to act too grown-up themselves, but it comes off as rebellious and just plain stupid every time. Kids should be cute and innocent, geez. XD;

But yeah, if someone wants to curse casually around friends and family who are comfortable with it, then I'm not gonna complain. They're not bothering anything. It's just the ones who don't use any discretion whatsoever that get on my nerves. Like they're not even TRYING to respect the opinions of others.

Agreed... Except for the "cute and innocent" part, kids should have their own personality not a stereotyped personality.

Well, I was talking about when they're younger, and are usually more carefree and happy. That's how my little brother is at the moment. XD; I know they change as they grow... I've had to babysit maaany kids during my 18 years. But I do think that most of them mature too fast these days. They practically lose their childhood when they start trying to act so much older than they actually are, simply because it's apparently the cool thing to do?

Wait, what are the swearing, little kids' ages?
The ones I knew were about... 7-ish, I think? They would do it on purpose to make the adults angry, and it would get so annoying. ._. I think they picked it up from having an older brother who used to talk that way around them all the time.

... I really don't see how a word can be bad after all its just a word. Ah so many things in society just are idiotic. Profanity is forbidden but what ever happened to sticks and stones may break my bone but words will never hurt me? But then again, words leave emotional scars for life and a broken bone heals (hopefully). So I guess in a way I do not despise it because they are just words but in a way I do because they hurt.
I would rather be with friends and family~

Everyone in my family thinks my childhood flew out the window cause they let me watch PG-13 movies at a young age. xD
But I learned not to use them very quickly, it's not our religion to say them anyway, and I'm strongly against young children putting them into their vocabulary.

You're lying to yourself when you say words don't have an impact - they DO. That's why we know when not to say certain things, what words will make one feel happy, sad, angry, etc. There aren't 'bad' words, per se; we just make them bad. =[

Welcome to the internet.

I try to avoid it when possible. The worst I say is the P-bass word (Ew, Precision. :P) but I don't use it all that often anyway.

You would have to define profanity, for profane language can differ between two plus people thus subjective. However, for discussion sake, I do not despise such words, but I am not an advocate of spreading fowl phrases. I find it rather natural to use an alternative word to best fit the situation.

I am the type where I can't open my mouth without saying a cuss word. I just say cuss words so fluently, sometimes I don't even know when I am using them XD;

In my personal opinion, it is impossible for someone to express themselves without cuss words. Like, when you are angry and "going down without a fight", so to speak, and the only way to vent is to either cuss, or punch a hole in the wall to get into more trouble in the process of doing so, which are you going to chose? Personally, I think it comes down to choice and probably self expression.

edit: This did pop into my mind after typing my opinion: Maturity. Being mature about the situation would too, be a choice.

In my opinion it's impossible to go through life without using an expletive at least once. It's pretty easy to not swear any other time. :P

I really don't give a flying... ermm... I mean, I really don't care about cursing so much anymore. I mean, when did society decide that some words were considered as "bad" and others as "acceptable?" Just like us, words basically, to me at least, started out the same. Over time, peoples' perception of words changed, and from what might have been one person's opinion of a word escalated into a series of similar opinions. Because of those similar opinions, we've all learned that certain words are good, and others are bad. But who are we to care? We also have the right to decide whether a word is good or not, no?

So, well, yeah. That's why I don't really care about profanity. Sure, I wouldn't say it in front of a little kid or an honorable adult, but on the other hand, words are just words.

Of course, that's just my view.

It's been long but we can do it; let's make this our dream

Look to tomorrow because it's all we have. Turn up the music until the walls shake. What do we have?
Is it hope? Love? Is it nothing at all? We won't know at all until we make something of what we feel.
When that happens, we'll find the truth. We'll find what we want. And we will find ourselves, finally.

I'm around profanity quite a bit, at home and out in the world, it's pretty hard to escape it since it's become such a densensitized aspect of our lives. I try not to swear, but stuff slips out every now and then. It used to be that I didn't care who I would offend by saying things, but in the past few years that's really changed. I guess I just try to be more respectful of people who don't like hearing the words and I'm not the biggest fan of them myself anymore, they're nothing a good vocabulary can't replace anyway.

Hmm, profane language, I can't say I despise it, I just think it's un-needed in some situations, and around kids, but if one is angry, I consider it as them getting things off their chest.

I only use them when I'm with my friends and we're not in public. I tired not using them for a while, but it's habit for me, so it just kind of happens. I can control myself though, I don't use them around my parents, or little kids, so in my opinion using them around my friends is normal and kind of acceptable.

I shouldn't say them, but I do.

Besides the F word wasn't a cuss word to begin with, but people started using it as one and now look >_>
I think they're just words that started off as other words. I just don't see it as much a big deal cause I watch myself and only use them around my friends.
