Pokémon Fanfiction Rules, Regulations, and Guidelines

    -

The Community Rules are to always be followed in this section. There will be a few exceptions to these rules, which will be explained below.

This section is for Pokémon Fanfiction only. Original writings, fanfics for other fandoms, and poetry of all kinds go into the Other Writing section.

    -

    General Rules For Fanfics

    1.) Use common sense, mates.

2.) Fanfics are to be written in a readable manner. Write your fanfics in a word processing program or make use of one of the various free spell-checkers online. Do not be afraid to read over your story before posting it, to catch various mistakes and to make the fic the best that you can. If the story does not meet basic standards of writing, the fic will not be closed. The author has one chance after a reviewer posts a critical review to improve in some way. If the story is not improved in any way after the review, the thread will be closed.

3.) Do not post unfinished work. Only post your chapter or short story when it is finished. This does not mean that the entire fic must be finished if it is a chaptered fic. But your chapter may not be cut short because you "did not have time to finish writing".

4.) Ratings up to R are allowed here. If your fic crosses over into NC-17 territory, then the story will be closed/edited/and you will receive the proper punishment according to the Community Rules. Place your rating in the first post of the thread or in the thread's title.

5.) The author, and only the author, has permission to "bump" their thread and to double post. This exception is only allowed for the author to post a new chapter. Any other reason to post, as to reply to a review or tell people that a new chapter is coming, will be treated as spam.

6.) Plagiarizing, the act of stealing another's work and claiming it as your own, is not acceptable at all. The fic will be closed, and you will receive a permanent four-point infraction.

    7.) *insert rule seven here*

8.) Only well-written script fics are allowed here. Others will be closed due to a lack of quality.

9.) When starting your thread, make sure that you have either a prologue/chapter/short story in your first post. Otherwise, the thread gets closed, unless the moderator is feeling really really nice.

10.) There is no need for threads in the Writer's Lounge dedicated to your fic. If you want people to talk about your fic, they do so in the main thread. That's where all reviews go.

General Rules and Guidelines For Reviewing

(A more in-depth guide on reviewing may be found here.)

Reviewing is the act of telling an author what you, the reader, thought about their story. There are a few guidelines to follow, as well as some rules.

1.) Be honest. Writers share their work to entertain the readers, and to perhaps grow as a writer. If you notice something wrong with their fic, but fail to point it out, you are actually holding the writer back from growing.

2.) Be polite. Do not insult someone's fic. A review that is nothing more than a flame will be taken as one, and will be handled properly by the moderator.

3.) Be precise. Do not just post and say that the fic was good/bad. Tell the author what you enjoyed or did not enjoy. Add to your review the best that you can to avoid just posting a one-line review. Anyone posting a one-line review will be given a warning on the first occasion and an infraction for each further occasion. It's spam.

4.) Do not do the following: beg for updates, beg for a particular character to appear in the fic, do not give number ratings unless you explain where you got the score from and how.

    Writer's Lounge Guidelines

The Fanfiction Lounge is a thread where one may go to ask simple questions about writing, or to discuss any part of fanfiction with fellow authors. Community Rules must still be followed.

The Fanfiction Announcement Thread is where you may post that you have a new story/chapter posted and ready for reviewing.

You are allowed to post previews of your fanfiction to get some help/advice/reviews before posting.

    The official PFF&P! F.A.Q.

Because apparently, I'm too good for you people.

A lot of people have PM'd me questions about the rules. (Okay, so like...three, but that's more than enough.) So I decided to just have a post where I post the questions I get asked (only in much much much better grammar) and answer, and I'll update this post whenever someone asks me a question about the rules or the forum itself.

    Let's get started.

    Q. How come you say to follow the Community Rules, but then allow R-rated fics?

    A. Because I'm too lazy to retype the Community Rules that apply for this section, and just post the link up there.

    Q. What's a lemon?

    A. If you don't know, you're way too young to find out. It's also a very delicious fruit that is mostly produced in India.

    Q. What's up with rule five?

    A. Authors can only bump their fics when they have a new chapter. Only the author of the fic (the person who started the thread) can bump the thread in question if they have a new chapter to post. Why can't the author of the thread bump their thread with anything else? Because then we get "lol i have chapter maybe 4 u". So only the author can bump their thread with a new chapter.

    Q. Do you like being a mod?

    A. Immensely. Sure, my posts might make you think differently, but if I didn't like being a mod, I would have shot myself years ago. You all amuse me a lot. And without me, you would all be lost in the dark.
