I don't think *write write write* is Silverblaze's tagline though billeh.
Naw, it's just a way of inspiring myself.

When I put that there, you think I'm actually writing, and I HATE disappointing my serf-I mean, fellow FF writers, sooo... XD
Alright, how about this tagline?

*Oh well*

Huh? Well, it's not better than LaTeR dAyZ, but what is? Oh wait, maybe

*The cookie just crumbled*

Or

*tagline?*
Hmm, tagline manufacturing!

*chewchewchew*
Etc.
Or better yet, stop wasting time making fun of people by using your time wisely and vote for the battles that we have so far in the battle fanfic thread!
*pounds keyboard with fist* A-MEN, bruthah! XD

I think that we oughta work up a good threat for people who don't participate in the FFBT. How about:

Chanting "Doom on you"
Calling them names
Beating them with a copy of "Shakespeare's Greatest Works"
Throwing bananas at them
Sending them over to the current DCC during 'Rush hour'

That last one sounds kinda harsh, let's not do that. XD
Newsflash from JA: I went to a convention on the weekend, and my fic "Summer's Dying Days" came second in the fanfic competition! It was an international competition and apparently they got about twice as many entries this year as last, so that's pretty cool ^^;. I wouldn't even have considered entering with a Pokmon fic if Fwosty dear~ hadn't rated it that highly, so it's all thanks to him :P. Although I'm slightly perplexed at the prize. I mean, what use does a writer have for a pencil board? XD
Congrats! XD

If you don't want the pencil board, give it to me! I ALWAYS find uses for things. *coughebaycough*

Hmm, something disturbing has just caught my attention.

Question: How many of the people who post in the FF lounge are currently working on stories that they've posted here? I know Act has Misconception, Kats has BBAB, Yamato-San is sticking to his two thingies, and the redoubtable Breezy has WSBB, but who else? And the FFBT don't count. XD

I'm working on a story that I might post here sooner or later. I still have some editing to do, and I'm pretty busy (and lazy), so who knows? Winter, maybe?

Meh, I have but a Halloween one-shot that I will be releasing in October (durrh).

Yes, people who haven't voted yet should be beaten with sticks.

In which an undead trainer, a bloodthirsty super-clone, and an irascible ex-Rocket grunt set out to rescue an imprisoned Mew--if they don't end up murdering each other first.

You know, we need to recruit some fanficcers. The same six or seven people are on here 24/7... I luff y'all, but somehow I think we'd get some more activity with more people.

I've been thinking about that for a while....

Anyway, what does everyone think of... quagsire! for the 'Sincerely...' sequel? I had sort of an inspiration for him...

What "two" thingies? I only have one, and that's the out-dated version of PMC (which only goes up to a certain chapter). I would post the script there, but some dumb **** at fanfiction.net made a stupid rule against it, because they think they always look too similar to AIM convos and crap like that. :rolls eyes: Oh yeah, like you don't have narratives that are loaded with "LOL"s and "OMG"s and "that's 1337!!!111oneone1111"s and "IM teh R0><0Rs!"s and other forms of horrid, lazy grammar and punctuation, not to mention a lack of a decent plot. From what I hear, those guys don't even check the things they delete. If anyone knows of some petition to stop discriminating against scripts over there, as well as get everyone running the place to stop being a bunch of oblivious ****tards, I'd gladly sign it.

I'm with FFN on destroying all scriptfics. If it protects the millions of fanfics yet sacrifices the minority that worths less than 1% of all stories there, I'm with it. Obviously, they can't possibly check everything that they delete, just because a non-profit organization like FFN that lives purely on donations and ADs cannot seriously use their time in such manners. Checking the quality of works that are to be deleted take too much time, along with an inefficient use of time because there's a very good chance that those works are rightfully deleted anyway. Let's assume that they do the check anyway, then that means there are exceptions to rules. Once you have one exceptions, everyone will strive to be an exception as well.

NOOOO Quagsire shouldn't be it because it does get recognition as being the king of all physical water types in the UU diversion. As long as Swampert is gone, Quagsire can claim its kingship.

Yanma is somewhat equal in situation. Everyone is rather fasinated by Yanma's multiple combo moves due to compound eyes+Hypnosis, and speed boost+reversal+liechi.

Ledian on the other hand... can't do crap, and is never used absolutely anywhere. It's not even that pleasing to the eyes, too.

As long as we're doing planned stories, I've gotta rabid humor one coming out eventually. XD "The Legendary Quest for Adventure: A Pokmon Masters Journey to redeem the Legacy of KJHOSO!" What? I just thought up some really n00bish title-words and strung them together in a feasible order. I'll probably add more to it, but one never knows... XD Oh, prepare to meet The Chronicler, a tangible bit of evidence that not all authors are merely eccentric, but full-blown crazy... XD I just can't decide whether or not it would be interesting or not... XD

I do agree that more participants in the lounge would be kinda nice, but hey, you can't deny that we've got a nice little close-knit, "cozy" place here.

I like quagsire as a pokmon, but I don't see terribly many 'fics about it (though of course, that's probably the point...) Who doesn't love the loveable, slightly vacant expression?

Sorry, I thought you were talking about people having their works from here posted on fanfiction.net, not the other way around. Speaking of misunderstandings, I think you did just that for #2. I wasn't talking about how every script out there but mine is crappy, I was talking about how narratives can be just as bad as how scripts are usually portrayed.

Concerning the lack of activity here lately.... I think it was pretty lively back when Frost was reviewing like crazy. Everyone would request a review from him, and everyone would anxiously await the day he posted his opinions. I guess people were also striving for Fanfiction of the Week, back when it was still fresh and new and not many fics were on there yet, so they could feel special, like a rarity. We have Fanfiction of the Month now, but of course, that's taking four times as long to get out. And recently, Silver Blaze was posting random questions constantly. I wonder why he stopped doing that.

Oh, just a random tidbit, but I just watched "Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa", and I couldn't help but notice.... in PMC, does Hiro with Eievui somewhat remind anyone of Nausicaa with Teto? This is my first time watching the movie, but I was familiar with Teto through promotional artwork and screenshots and stuff that I ran into on the internet over the past few years, and now that the movie's come to mind, I'm left wondering if I subconsciously based Eievui off of Teto in the revision. I don't recall these traits being apparent in my brother's original comic pages, or even my first written version, but in the revision, Eievui has a tendency to ride on Hiro's shoulder, and in a recent chapter, I listed the sizes of Hiro's Pokemon, with Eievui's being smaller than the official species size listed in the games. I purposely made him smaller to give him a slight sense of timidness (something to contrast his constant displays of courage), though I'm now left wondering if inspiration played a hand as well (Eievui biting Hiro's finger in the first chapter was definitely a coincidence, though. I had no clue how Nausicaa's meeting with Teto went until I saw the movie. The scene was in my brother's original comic pages, but I'm pretty sure he didn't know about it either). Does anyone else feel like they're getting inspired by existing movies and such without even realizing it at first?

I haven't watched that show before, so I can't comment there.

Yes back then there is more activity. Lily pumps out oneshots on something that's probably a bi-weekly basis, and Oni also writes back then instead of travelling around the world to hunt down emos too.

Back then part of the reason why I "reviewed like mad" is simply because I know less about english. The less you know, the less you are looking for in a fanfic, and of course reviews go by a lot faster. Realize how in comparison to the past, Frosty's reviews got longer and longer, along with being more specific as time goes on? =D Being in my final year of high school doesn't help too much, either.

Right now I'm still reviewing Trials of Reluctance, and it's a long epic, and since old little me with my memory loss, I have to re-read 17 chapters of it (or some high number like that) before I can finally start the "actual" review process because the last review I did for Trials of Reluctance is probably 5 months ago. I just finished the part of Mia entering the Pokemon Contest, and will be moving on to Brendan's adventure in Meteor Falls soon (so now too far from where I left off last time.)

Another reason why the lounge is dying is not related to us here. It's just that the new writers don't bother to look at the lounge at all. All the people who remain at the lounge now are part of the lounge for at least a couple months now (Negrek counts too, since she said that she did read the lounge for a long time and only decided to post in Sept. Katsuro is basically bribed here even though he doesn't exactly write Pokemon fanfics.) I don't know why, but the new writers in PC's fanfic forum don't come in to have a look, or join in the discussions here...

Da, that's what's so nice about it. But, if it got busier, we'd be, like, a 'core'.

Like, new person gets here and he posts his story, but nobody looks at it, and he PMs a buddy and the buddy says, 'd00d, just look in the FF Lounge, all the big-shots hang out there, you could probably find a reviewer there, there's some people there that've been around, like, FOREVER!' LOL, I can just see that convo now.

Random thought: Totally random, but you know how they're campaigning for PC President right now? I was just randomly thinking that we'd be, like, the 'FanFic Party' or something. XD 'Course, we'd HAFTA support Kats and/or JA, but I thought it was a funny random thought. XD
Sorry, but a battle isn't happening.
Then we beat you with sticks! XD

C'mon, it's not that hard, and Kats is a nice guy. You could even be the first to do a plain old two-on-two battle involving just two Pokmon per person for starting out! XD
I was thinking mew or something, but I just can't find the inspirtation for it. I /liked/ feebas, so it was easy. I like quagsire.

I started one about how Mewtwo comes to our reality and tells off all the n00b writers about turning the Legendaries into goody-two-shoes and all that fun stuff at a big convention, but I kinda lost interest after awhile. XD
Hmm, it was a half-misunderstanding. Let's drop it before I begin spinnning in circles. XDXD Gotcha. XD
Concerning the lack of activity here lately.... I think it was pretty lively back when Frost was reviewing like crazy. I remember thinking along that line a while ago.

FFotM is good, because it's less work for the Mods and there's less stuff to work with, but there should still be something else to pique interest.

We could set up a once-a-year FF contest, so we could hype that for a few months and get everybody excited about that. The only problem I could foresee would be that almost every other site that has a FFForum is doing something along that line. XD And the fact that we don't have a couple thousand viewers, like SPPF, but whatever. XD
And recently, Silver Blaze was posting random questions constantly. I wonder why he stopped doing that.
Gasporz! Someone actually thought they were useful?! XD

As to why I'm not posting them, I ran out of questions. It's kinda hard running a one-man show when you have limited random curiosity. XD Beyond that, I kinda felt like the questions were just getting answered without anyone but me following up on them.

However, one question I LOVED asking was 'what's your favorite fics you've ever read?' or something like that. XD I'm STILL eternally grateful to Iveechan for posting the link to 'The Adventures of Tyler and Magmar'. LOLOLOLOL! XD

I also liked the first chapter of 'Tangled Webs', although I thought 'twas a tad on the gory side, but whatever. I need to go back and read the rest of that sometime. XD
Does anyone else feel like they're getting inspired by existing movies and such without even realizing it at first?
Ocassionally, like with 'Bourne Identity'. But I usually catch on when I'm inspired by movies and such right away.
Yes back then there is more activity. Lily pumps out oneshots on something that's probably a bi-weekly basis, and Oni also writes back then instead of travelling around the world to hunt down emos too.
And lilbluecorsola had her series of one-shots, and Chibi Pika still posted her stories here, and a few other people were around. Now I REALLY feel like I need to post some stories here. XD But, at least the forum is a tad busier with the FFBT than it was before it. XD
Actually, WE may be part of the reason.

I remember when I first started coming here. I noticed the FFLounge while I was waiting for CP to reply to a post, and I saw that this place had a lotta the BIG ONES that I held up to be on a higher plane; people like LilyPichu, Chibi Pika, lilbluecorsola, the great frostweaver(your reviews REALLY scared me, I thought you were some big, mean, nasty guy who would glower me down at the slightest provocation), and others. I, being non-writer I was, didn't really feel comfortable talking to people who not only were on such a high plane of intellect, but had written something at one point or another. XD So now, with the addition of Negrek, the newbies probably view the FFLounge(when they think of it), as the place for 'successful' authors to go. Except for the few who have some sense and post here looking for help, they're not going to post here unless asked or one of the 'Big-shots' stoop down and say their fic is 'acceptable.

[/rant/rave/block of text/attempt to rationalize the psyche of other people]

Now I REALLY feel bad for not posting anything for awhile other than FFBattles. TIME TO GET CRACKING!

After this nap. XD

Interestingly enough, I only found out about PC's lounge because someone didn't like the review I gave them for their fanfic. They were like, "Sometimes, Negrek, I think that reviewers like you and frostweaver at PC are just trying to crush the dreams of little writers like me" or something along those lines. So of course I decided, I must meed this frostweaver...

Yeah, it didn't take me long to figure out the PC abbreviation. And then I lurked and then I joined. Because I think that the lounge here is a lot more interesting than the author's cafe at Serebii.

I'm not sure that a once-a-year award session would work. Take a look around. How many 'fics that are started here are still around a year later? How many FFotW's are still progressing? The only participants in the award would be the big-time names everybody sees everywhere anyway, The Quest for the Legends, The Legendarian Chronicles, stuff by Breezy, etc. It would be boring.

Yes, Tangled Web is a wee bit gory. But also quite funny. It is teh love.

Anyway... yeah, once I got random inspiration from this one made-for-TV movie (based on a book) called "The Five People You Meet in Heaven". I only saw the last little bit of it because I was on the internet for most of it (hee), but for some reason afterward I had this insanely random idea having to do with Latias and the southern island in Ruby/Sapphire version. That turned into my first one-shot, "Memory". It has absolutely nothing to do with the movie that gave rise to it; in fact, I can't fathom the thought process that must have led from one to the other.

I feel bad about being less active. I told people on FF.net that I'd be gone until mid-July, but I haven't updated my main 'fic since June. But the thirty-first chapter is more than halfway done now...

In which an undead trainer, a bloodthirsty super-clone, and an irascible ex-Rocket grunt set out to rescue an imprisoned Mew--if they don't end up murdering each other first.

Silver Blaze, you know, you didn't have to write those questions every other day. I mean, for most of them, I wasn't even able to reply until after you posted the next question. You really should've paced yourself a bit. After all, even back in the day, Frost didn't have a daily review (or if he did, which I can't remember, it happened very rarely).

Anyway, even though it is kinda limited to us, a yearly, or twice-a-yearly, award would be nice to see how each of our stories stand amongst the others, see who's the best of the best in a certain category. You know, Serebii really p*sses me off because I have a ton of closet readers who almost never nominate me and guys like Dragonfree just rule everything, as well as some over-rated guys (not to say Dragonfree's over-rated). And why the **** don't they have a "Most Cultural Author" category? You have any idea how much of a shoe-in I'd be for at least that?

Oh, yes, I am. I won a bunch of awards there's no way I deserved in the last awards. There's no way in hell I'm the "Best author of 2004-2005". At least I wasn't nominated for practically everything this time...

Still not going to sprite for your fangame. Sorry, but I don't really sprite or give out permission for people to use my fake Pokémon anymore.
Is there a Treeland? If so, there.

*ish overrated too for the obvious reason*
Another reason why the lounge is dying is not related to us here. It's just that the new writers don't bother to look at the lounge at all. All the people who remain at the lounge now are part of the lounge for at least a couple months now (Negrek counts too, since she said that she did read the lounge for a long time and only decided to post in Sept. Katsuro is basically bribed here even though he doesn't exactly write Pokemon fanfics.) I don't know why, but the new writers in PC's fanfic forum don't come in to have a look, or join in the discussions here...
The lounge holds an air of intellect hinted with elitism which scares new writers. I guess. I'm still scared of posting here to be honest. X3

"What if they think I'm dumb Breezy?"

"You are dumb. Get over it."

"But..."

"Just post!"

...yes, I do actually go through that in my head. Sometimes out loud too depending if I want to feel crazy or not.

Speaking of the SPPf awards...

If you're not part of the whole community over there, there's no chance in hell that'd you'd be nominated. X3 Nah. A least likely chance of course. It's more varied though with more authors outside of the box seeing as people heard about the roll HellKorn and Serpent Syra when discussing it at the afterparty.

I love how NiGHTS emphasized that poetry department though since he's wanted to pwn me and others in that for a long time. :) I shoulda reposted Tiny Paws.

no one asks us the questions which we will certainly answer if it ever presents itself
Question: Huh?

*tagline?*
convo snip-it of the moment:

billy5772: not worth responding to
anonymous: You responded though.
anonymous: Thumbs up for flawless logic.
billy5772: so. i can do things not worth doing, can't I?
billy5772: case in point: i talk to you all the time

I'm not sure that a once-a-year award session would work. Take a look around. How many 'fics that are started here are still around a year later? How many FFotW's are still progressing? The only participants in the award would be the big-time names everybody sees everywhere anyway, The Quest for the Legends, The Legendarian Chronicles, stuff by Breezy, etc. It would be boring.
Er, I'm not sure about LC, Chibi Pika doesn't post her chapters here anymore...

Anyway, yeah, but it would give people something to look forward to. I mean, if I know that I have a possibility of getting nominated, even though I'm new, that says 'work harder so you can get nominated'. FFotM is good for giving us who's good by the Mods' perspective, and while that's not wrong, it's like saying to the newbies 'if the Mods don't like it, it doesn't get put up there'. And while we all know that Niko and LilyPichu try to be as fair as they can, not everybody feels that way, especially with Niko's militant stance on emo's and half the newbies having no clue what that is. For all they know, THEY could be emo and thus never have a chance of getting anywhere.

Beyond that, audience participation in SOMETHING forum-wide is a lotta fun. The FFBT is good, but, as is shown elsewhere in this thread, even some of the more successful authors feel uncomfortable going there and posting for a battle. And how many of us can feel loads of enthusiasm when we're scared/unwilling to participate? If they were voting on their favorite fics or what-have-you, they feel like they're on safer ground, especially if nobody else has to see their votes and make them feel n00bish.

Ah, well, I rant and I rave, but that's me. Hmm, I must be crazy *bonks head* or I'm obsessing over how to jump-start a forum that's already going. XD
I feel bad about being less active. I told people on FF.net that I'd be gone until mid-July, but I haven't updated my main 'fic since June. But the thirty-first chapter is more than halfway done now...
I have that problem quite often, but I'm getting better. I found that you go on-line at least once a day and update all or most of your stuff online, and don't touch until the day after, depending on how often you get on the internet. Then, for the rest of the day, you do whatever(writing for me) whenever you get on the computer. But updating all my internet accounts every day keeps me trim and slim. XD

*gasps* P-Pace myself? What's that? XD lol, I'm hopelessly crazy. XD *chants 'pace, pace, pace' forever...*

Da, and you'd give a race for 'most dramatic/best action battle' with that Kiryuu vs. everyone else on the blimp fight. XD I did actually see your name mentioned a coupla times in the nominations, if that helps.

Beyond that, it'd be more interesting here. There's a smaller n00b author/good author ratio here than at SPPF, and more quality. Also, since a lotta the fics in question have been read or are just a coupla clicks away, it'd be easier for the voters to give their honest opinions on the fics in question.

*laughs* Of course, we'd need a 'Serpent Syra' or somebody who'd do all that. XD If we do decide to do anything vaguely like that, I VOLUNTEER FIRST! Why? 'Cause it's fun... XD

Or we could have it so that we vote up the FFotM or something. XD Something that needs audience participation. XD

Actually, the fact that you got voted again for THIS year says something.

One year you can pass it off as a fluke, the second year says that people are either getting into a habit of picking you or they're actually, honestly thinking that you're the best, in which case you have a chance of educating them. If it gets to be a third year, though, you just hafta grin and bear the fact that you're good.

Also, we're talking about SPPF here. The FF area is loaded with badfics and fics that are not-so-good. I just found out that one of my favorites is going to seed, for example. It's obnoxiously annoying, it is, but it makes sense that you'd be one of the people who consistantly get voted up, because you actually go for quality in your stuff. XD

If I could invent a needle for injecting an ego-boost, I wouldn't get rich. That'd be because I'd save it for around-the-FFForums, where authors get gloomy and depressed because people say their fics are good. XD

*pounds head on keyboard* Obviously neither my rants or anybody else are getting through to you, so we shall try logic:

1. You. Are. A. Good. Author. Period. If you weren't, we would be telling you, whether gently or harshly, in no explicit terms. As it is, we believe that you are good. If you don't believe that, we'll still think it. Besides, you have a style. XD
2. If you're too dumb for this 'elitist' crowd/thread, then what am I? I have zero successful stories here to mah name, while you have what, two? Three? And yet I'm posting here with impunity. Yes, it may be because I'm crazy, but you must remember that I'm not insane. I still have Human feelings, including the sense that I'm not good enough. THAT was beaten into insensibility by looking at the n00bies. I KNOW I'm better than them, and that's the only thing you need to know to become a successful author. Wait, that didn't make sense... XD
3. WSBB=? Did Wally shoot Brendon out of jealousy? Or did Steven? Norman? Or did I shoot him? AUGH! I'm so intrigued that I can't decide who I AM! AUGH!

Question: Huh?
He means that it's the newbies fault that this place is viewed as 'elitist'. We'd answer the questions if they'd only ask them.

Question: How many of you actually name your characters based on their position in your fic? I did that with Battlefront; Dooley is, like, Irish for 'Hero' and Medwin is 'friend' or something like that.
