about two days, but even though thats a short amount of time, it seemed like a long day in hell for me
TBH, Vista is going to be über slow the first couple weeks of use. that's because it uses that time to learn your searching habits for the search feature. (even if you never use it) after that it should speed up a little bit, plus if you put SP1 on it it goes even faster. (though if you're running it in a virtual machine it doesn't matter, it's still slow as heck, that's why I prefer XP there)

I have yet to buy a new computer to run Vista. But from the various reviews I have read on the internet I am quite reluctant to install it onto my computer. But since I am planning on buying Bioshock when I get a new computer I am going to install Vista onto it to play all the Games for Vista on it.

You don't actually need Vista for Bioshock. You only need Vista for Halo 2 (unless you get the special XP version somehow), or intend to play with DX10 which no games currently have.

Also Gerri Shin®, Service Pack 1 MAKES Vista for me. Before it my attitude was the same as Aniki's. Although really it was only small things that pissed me off, like the time it took to copy and delete things between drives.

No games? Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts? Crysis? Bioshock? Assassins Creed? Flight Sim X? Hellgate London? Lost Planet? World in Conflict?
They all support DX10 natively :X

I honestly think XP is better than Vista, even though it is older...
Why?
Because of two things:
1.It's a lot faster.
2.Most programs don't work on Vista but work on XP.

well vista is for the new generation pokemons... i mean computers....
use a vista if you feel your system will carry the risk of vista..
well i tried upgrading my lappy to a vista and runned to slow...then i scewed up...that's why i got this crap to an outdated crap..
well xp is good for old computers..
if your planning to upgrade your xp os to a vista i recommend to buy a new system containing the genuine os of vista with the genuine cd or dvd software...and key..

  1. XP is gonna be faster on older machines. That's not a valid critisism. It wasn't designed to run on the older hardware that XP was. Vista runs on my machine at a similar speed to XP. So, it's not a "lot" faster.
  2. I (and others) who actually use Vista, find hardly any problems with any programs. There's a couple just like XP had this far into its lifetime, but definately not most!
I'd suggest actually using Vista before you spout verbatim what you've heard from the internet.

Hmm. Vista users. I am liking this. I want the conversation about DX# to stop. Nothing to do with the 2 operating systems.

Vista is awesome once you get the hang of it, the only thing that kind of made me mad was when i was setting it up, I typed in my username but the mouse arrow was on the Next box and clicked by itself. So my username was B

uhhh DirectX does make a difference between the two operating systems, if i recall DX10 can't go on XP unless you google hard enough to find out how

XP can't support DX10 if i recall only Vista can have DX10 but... if you know what you're doing you can get DX10 on XP so it does make a difference between the two os

XP is going to start being offered as an ultra-low cost OS to compete with Linux. So, XP will be easier to get a hold of, and hopefully Vista will die out and XP will rule the world <3

Vista looks awesome but performance is not that good. It takes a lot of Ram and hard disk space. In other words if you don't have more than 2gb R.A.M. forget VISTA!

Windows Xp on the other hand has a better performance. It is fast even is you've got 256mb R.A.M. It is a 3/5 in looks and that's where Vista takes the lead.

Though I personally feel there is not points of paying ten times more just for better looks.

Vista is an ok OS (after SP1) but it's still too Juxtaposition for me, I prefer the uniformity of XP myself and the fact that I can run XP within a VM with much less resources than Vista and still have the speed to use both Windows and Mac at the same time.

My computer has XP and I am still afraid to upgrade to a new computer because I have heard horror stories about Vista not working with a lot of programs. My sister cannot even burn a CD on her computer now =o

Okay, my bad about DX# i thought it had something to with games which really isnt important. To be honest I hate computer games, too much memory taken up, and uneasy controls, I prefer other systems where I use a handheld control or in the wii's case a Wiimote with accelerometers in it.

Though Halo2 on PC using the WiiMote is apparently pretty good.
I raged once, then again and again for a final rage.

Halo 2, unferior to 1 in all aspects especially on PC and using a Wiimote on PC..

Sure it would be pretty funny but you'd lose, unless you were playing single player.. but who plays Halo single player.

What would be good is split screen Halo 2 with Wiimotes although, that's probably not do-able on a PC.

Actually, from what I heard the it's quite playable; using a WiiMote on a PC affords *far* more accuracy than what it ever does on the console, due to the fact the PC drivers don't discard 90% of the accelerometer information.
