Fear the Dancing Dragon

Finally! My first Battle Log! Sorry for the picture presentation, Shoddy doesn’t let me make it into text form.

In this match, I face a challenger BoSMewtwo. Let’s hope he’s fair, and doesn’t actually use a Mewtwo!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rounds 1-2

First two turns were pretty simple. It's good that I didn't attack, or else I'd waste 2 Dragon Dancing that will be extremely crucial to this battle. I know he's going to switch out, so now, it's only a matter of getting stronger than anything he can send out.

Rounds 3-4

He tries setting up a good switch while I start setting up sweepage. Blastoise was a bad move since the only priority move I believe it can use is Aqua Jet, which, even with the two attack boosts, won't do that much. I have 4 Dragon Dances and am expecting to sweep this team.

Rounds 5-6

I use Earthquake since everything on my Movelists hits from not very effective. It just barely takes out the blue turtle, but hey, I'm not complaining. Next he sends out an Absol, something I'm definately not afraid of. Waterfall to take it out with 69% of it's health to spare.

Rounds 7-8

Never mind the dark line, I just crossed out uneeded dialogue (you can still probably read what it says. Back on topic, MEWTWO? I'm not playing uber and I see this guy staring at me. I'm not gonna let this thing Pressure stall me or switch into Ninjask. I'm going straight for the Waterfall. And what do you know? 4 DDancing Gyarados takes out uber Mewtwo with 34% HP for it to spare. Should've found this thing's EV spread. Anyway, here comes Tangrowth which is the most annoying part of this team. Ice Fang is super effective, but doesn't do as much as I hoped. It puts me to sleep, and I'm expecting Leech Seed.

Rounds 9-10

Slight skirmish with Tangrowth eating off my poor tired Gyarados while it dreams about Milotics...D: I knew the Leech Seed was coming, but I kept Gyarados in. I decided nothing short of a Grass Knot would take out Gyarados, so here I am risking it. I get seeded and drained, it's annoying, but can't be helped. Without leftovers, I'd probably have much less health and probably faint.

Rounds 11-12

Well Gyarados wakes up and delivers a thorough Ice Fang to that Tangrowth’s face (or whatever Tangrowth has. Luckily, it goes down without any Focus Sash or nothing. Up next comes the most scary Pokemon so far. Not that it did any damage, but it had the potential to do A LOT of damage. Brave Bird might’ve KO’d me. Toxic would’ve murdered me. Heck, a Whirlwind would take out my 4 DD’s which would’ve ruined my chances of handling Ninjask (assuming it had something else to hurt me) But thankfully, Waterfall rips Skarmory apart. Thank god.

Rounds 13-14 (FINAL)

Here comes that annoying ‘Jask once again. Guess he figured out no point in Protecting. He goes straight for X-Scissor, which does a pathetically low amount. Ice Fang should’ve OHKO’d it, but Focus Sash keeps it alive. No problem, one more turn, one dead Ninjask, one gg.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Match Overview: It was a fun match since I got to really see Gyarados' ferocity along with Tangrowth's true stalling abilities. I am also really happy since I was confused at which lead to use; Aerodactyl, Salamence, or Gyarados. I'm content with leading him now, especially since he took out one of the most powerful ubers with an HM. In the future, I'm gonna make sure I can get off as many DDances I got out here so I can sweep teams.

So what did we learn?

Always fear Dancing Dragons

Well that was awesome.
I always knew Gyarados could destroy teams and this just proves it 100%.
Could have run into more trouble with Tangrowth as you could have remained asleep for a few more turns which could have caused you some grief.
If I was your opponent I would have sent out Tangrowth a lot sooner.

Wow that just goes to show you never to get in the way of a Gyarados.
I wonder if anything could actually wall it well apart from perhaps a sleep talking Milotic maybe.

Milotic would actually be pretty fun to fight. I guess Ice Fang could flinch it more than enough to do some serious damage over a time.

To be very honest, I don't totally see the point of posting a log where somebody blindly let you set up your Gyarados to sweep their team. Of coursw Gyarados can sweep teams - we all know that. Posting a log about somebody who let you set up with ease and who used an uber in a standard match...no point, to be quite honest.

Had your opponent played the match correctly, Tangrowth would have come out right away, laughing off Ice Fangs and unleashing Power Whips.

It's a good win and all, but it really doesn't take any effort to set up on a Ninjask and watch the opponent's team fall apart. Also, the use of Blastoise and Mewtwo on the same team further shows the opponent's incompetence. You said it yourself - the opponent was a newbie. No point in posting such a beatdown, eh?

I just recommend posting a log of a battle that is...you know...good, next time. It's cool seeing clean sweeps every now and again, but that was too easy. Logs showing the other player giving you a good match are generally much more interesting.

Not to sound like too much of a critic or anything. I just think the match isn't very interesting - it's just an easy sweep.

Perhaps you're right. I do see that most other logs are more close and knuckle-whitening. I guess that this victory gave me a real shock (first time I ever swept a team)

I'm on Shoddy looking for better battles to post, don't you worry.
