Well, I recently found a match against Itachi 2008, a member here at PC. It was a good, long-ish battle that helped me test out my new team, that I’ve had to send back to the drawing board many times. NOTE: Apologies if this is untidy, it’s my first log so I’ll need to improve on my formatting skills.

DeanoDance’s Team:

Rules:
Ladder Match,
Sleep Clause,
Freeze Clause,
OHKO Clause,
Evasion Clause,
Species Clause,
Strict Damage Clause

DeanoDance sent out Deoxys
Itachi 2008 sent out Starmie
Deoxys is exerting its pressure!
Right, my Deoxys lacks Thunderbolt, so my best bet is gonna be Grass Knot here.
---

Itachi 2008 switched Weavile
Weavile is exerting its pressure!
Deoxys used Grass Knot.
Weavile lost 29% of its health.
Deoxys lost 10% of its health.
Ok, that still took a chunk out of Weavile, and he’ll probably Ice Shard me, but Superpower should take it down no problem.
---

Deoxys used Superpower.
It's super effective!
Weavile lost 71% of its health.
Weavile fainted.
Deoxys's attack was lowered.
Deoxys's defence was lowered.
Deoxys lost 10% of its health.
Huh, no Ice Shard? Oh well, Weavile is down and it’s 6-5 to me.
---

Itachi 2008 switched in Lucario.
DeanoDance switched in Salamence.
Salamence's intimidate cut Lucario's attack!
Lucario used Extremespeed.
Salamence lost 25% of its health.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.
My Deoxys now has -1 Defence, so I switch to Salamence because Luke can’t do much to me unless it’s Specs or SD. Now I expect him to switch as he anticipates an EQ, so I use Dragon Claw to be on the safe side.
---

Itachi 2008 switched in Starmie.
Salamence used Dragon Claw.
Starmie lost 93% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
A large chunk taken out of Starmie there, so I Dragon Claw again, taking my chances that this Star doesn’t have Ice Beam...
---

Starmie used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Salamence lost 75% of its health.
DeanoDance's Salamence fainted.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Crud. It did, and Mence is down. 5-5.
---

DeanoDance switched in Deoxys.
Deoxys is exerting its pressure!
Itachi 2008 switched in Lucario.
Deoxys used Psychic.
Lucario lost 78% of its health.
Deoxys lost 10% of its health.
Time to bring Deoxys back in, and use Psychic as he expects me to Grass Knot. Psychic hits Luke pretty hard, but I’m not risking Deoxys getting killed yet, so it’s time for some bland physical walling.
---

DeanoDance switched in Skarmory.
Lucario used Extremespeed.
It's not very effective...
A critical hit!
Skarmory lost 20% of its health.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.
A bit of hax, but still only 20% damage, and the Life Orb recoil is whittling down Luke’s health. Time to lay down those rocks.
---

Itachi 2008 switched in Tentacruel.
Skarmory used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
Tentacruel comes in, and I don’t think Skarm is gonna be surviving too many Surfs. So it’s time for a Star of my own.
---

DeanoDance switched in Starmie.
Tentacruel used Rapid Spin.
Tentacruel blew away the spikes!
Starmie lost 4% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 4% of its health.
Hmm, my rocks are gone. Shame, but T-Bolt should give me a few decent hits.
---

Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Tentacruel lost 31% of its health.
Tentacruel used Toxic Spikes.
Spikes were scattered everywhere!
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
Tentacruel's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tentacruel restored 6% of its health.
Decent enough damage, and Tenta is laying the Toxic Spikes, luckily my Star is a spinner.
---

Starmie used Rapid Spin.
Starmie blew away the spikes!
Tentacruel lost 4% of its health.
Tentacruel used Toxic Spikes.
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
Tentacruel's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tentacruel restored 6% of its health.
More spikes, more spinning...
---

Starmie used Rapid Spin.
Starmie blew away the spikes!
Tentacruel lost 4% of its health.
Tentacruel used Surf.
It's not very effective...
Starmie lost 17% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Tentacruel's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tentacruel restored 6% of its health.
Ok, he’s attacking back, time for some more electricity.
---

Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Tentacruel lost 31% of its health.
Tentacruel used Toxic Spikes.
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Tentacruel's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tentacruel restored 6% of its health.
More spikes, but not to worry, a couple more Bolts and the Jellyfish is dog’s dinner.
---

Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Tentacruel lost 31% of its health.
Tentacruel used Ice Beam.
It's not very effective...
Starmie lost 13% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Tentacruel's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tentacruel restored 6% of its health.
One more T-Bolt and he’s down...
---

Itachi 2008 switched in Smeargle.
Starmie used Thunderbolt.
Smearglelost 52% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Smeargle’s leftovers restored its health a little!
Smearglerestored 6% of its health.
Argh, I hate this little rodent artist thing. Well, these things always carry Spore, so I may as well clear the spikes and put Natural Cure to good use.
---

Starmie used Rapid Spin.
Starmie blew away the spikes!
Smeargle lost 8% of its health.
Smeargle used Spore.
Starmie fell asleep!
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Smeargle's leftovers restored its health a little!
Smeargle restored 6% of its health.
Ok, time for a switch and some apage rapage.
---

DeanoDance switched in Infernape.
Smeargle used Substitute.
Smeargle lost 25% of its health.
Smeargle made a substitute!
Smeargle's leftovers restored its health a little!
Smeargle restored 6% of its health.
Oh, so it’s a subpuncher is it, not an out-and out Focus Puncher? Right, walling for you sonny jim...
---

DeanoDance switched in Skarmory.
Smeargle used Spore.
Skarmory fell asleep!
Smeargle's leftovers restored its health a little!
Smeargle restored 6% of its health.
Bugger, out predicted. Never mind, he can’t do much to me, so I’ll saty in and try and get some more rocks down.
---

Smeargle used Baton Pass.
Itachi 2008 switched in Starmie.
Skarmory is fast asleep!
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Oho, I was wrong. A subpasser Smeargle. Ok, no point leaving Skarm in against the Star, so pink blob time.
---

DeanoDance switched in Blissey.
Starmie used Thunderbolt.
Blissey lost 9% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Blissey's leftovers restored its health a little!
Blissey restored 6% of its health.
Temporarily forgetting that subs stop status and I can’t use T-wave, I realise that I need to get rid of that sub and paralyse Starmie before my Ape or Star can actually kill it. So, let’s get cleric-ing to get rid of some sleep.
---

Starmie used Recover.
Starmie restored 50% of its health.
Blissey used Aromatherapy.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Blissey's leftovers restored its health a little!
Blissey restored 3% of its health.
OK, Star has healed, and with Flamethrower and a sub up, Bliss can’t touch it. So I’m gonna have to sacrifice Deoxys to get rid of that sub.
---

DeanoDance switched in Deoxys.
Deoxys is exerting its pressure!
Starmie used Surf.
Deoxys lost 61% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!

OK, better Grass Knot it and kill this sub.
---

Starmie restored 6% of its health.
OK, it’s 4-5 to Itachi. Maybe if I can get Skarm to survive and deploy some rocks...
---

DeanoDance switched in Skarmory.
Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Skarmory lost 69% of its health.
Skarmory used Stealth Rock.
I don’t know what I’m thinking, but it’s worked. Bliss gets a completely safe switch-in, but Skarm is severely injured.
---

DeanoDance switched in Blissey.
Starmie used Thunderbolt.
Blissey lost 9% of its health.
Blissey's leftovers restored its health a little!
Blissey restored 6% of its health.
There we go, now to paralyse this thing so I can take it down.
---

Starmie used Thunderbolt.
Blissey lost 8% of its health.
Blissey used Thunder Wave.
Starmie is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Blissey's leftovers restored its health a little!
Blissey restored 6% of its health.
Yay! But just remembering Natural Cure, I’m sure he’ll catch onto my plan and undoubtedly switch back to Smeargle and set up another sub.
---

Itachi 2008 switched in Lucario.
Pointed stones dug into Lucario.
Lucario lost 2% of its health.
Itachi 2008's Lucario fainted.

Ok, random Luke sacrifice. 4-4.

Smeargle used Spore.
Blissey fell asleep!
Blissey is fast asleep!
Smeargle's leftovers restored its health a little!
Smeargle restored 6% of its health.
As I expected, and now Bliss is asleep. Well, he doesn’t have a sub up, and I still think it’s a subpuncher. So I’ll stay in for a bit and see.
---

Smeargle used Substitute.
Smeargle lost 25% of its health.
Smeargle made a substitute!
Blissey woke up!
Blissey used Flamethrower.
The substitute took damage for Smeargle.

She woke back up and killed the sub, so expect another Spore.
---

Smeargle used Spore.
Blissey fell asleep!
Blissey is fast asleep!
Smeargle’s leftovers restored its health a little!
Smeargle restored 6% of its health.

Tentacruel's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tentacruel restored 6% of its health.
Tenta is screwed, so it’s time to bring the Star back and unlease some shocking death.
---

DeanoDance switched in Starmie.
Tentacruel used Toxic Spikes.
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
Tentacruel's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tentacruel restored 6% of its health.
Ok, I’m not too worried about the spikes so long as I don’t have to switch, so no need to spin yet. T-bolt...
---

Itachi 2008 switched in Starmie.
Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Starmie lost 61% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
Oho, he Was expecting me to spin. So his Star is injured severely, and even if his Star goes first next, I should still beat it.
---

Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Starmie lost 45% of its health.

This was a great match. There was some pretty good prediction on both sides, but I must say, Starmie was epic in this match. So was Tenta, he resisted more Tbolts than I would've expected.

I enjoyed reading this match. Reps to you for posting it.

I told you T-bolt would be good on Deoxys-E over Psychic, nevermind.

Good game, some good prediction there from both sides, but you still came on top, congrats.

I don't really see the point of D-E with Grass Knot. What does that counter that Thunderbolt doesn't? Either way, it was a decent battle, I guess.

Um, Swampert,Rhyperior and Gyrados to name a few.

And from this battle, Tentacruel seems to cause some problems, aswell as Subbing Smeargle.

Grass Knot doesn't counter Gyara...

I'll give you those two, but Rhyperior isn't really seen too often to warrant it, is he?

My mistake, but that's still no reason to abandon it as an option and Swampert is incredibly common and it doesn't look like this team has another swampert counter, just my opinion though.

Thanks, I really enjoyed this battle, too. I have NO idea why those colour tags arent working, though. And that's the exact reason Deoxys has Grass Knot, as I don't have a Swampert counter here.

Try using ' and ' rather than " and "

Ah, that's why. I'd copied and pasted it into word and done a find/replace, and it screwed up the quote marks. All fixed now, should be easier to read.

Interesting match, and on Smeargle... It's extremely rare (from what I've seen) to see a Smeargle with focus punch. It's main role is sleep, stat up (say belly drum) and baton over to another team member. In my battle experiences I've never seen a sub-punch Smeargle so... yeah.

Not a big fan of the format, next time edit out the leftovers recovery and such, could have put some more effort there, it's your first go at it, so it's understandable anyway. ;D Nice win.

SubPunching Smeargle is like CB Blissey. Seriously Smeargle has base 20 attack, what were you thinking @[email protected]
As a rule of thumb, 99% of Smeargles are Baton passers, Spore/BP/Statup move/Statup move, the rest are Sash endeavorers or something.

As a rule of thumb, no Deoxys-E should be present without Thunderbolt and with Grass Knot, unless you're afraid of Swampert, as Thunderbolt is pretty much a superior attacking type.

I don't know what I was thinking, to be honest. I was either drunk or really tired.

Although I did face off against a subpunching Smeargle on PBR once, but I think it may have had Swords Dances passed to it, I can't really remember.

And I've seen a team with nothing but two Croagunks, a Meditite, and a Marrill win against a team of Legends on PBR. Opponents on PBR are generally 12 year old kids. :(
