Right, I'm playing Pokemon Silver at the moment, I only started the game yesterday so I'm still beginning on it so this question doesn't matter much just yet. But I would rather know, so...

I have 4 Pokemon in my line up all at Lv. 10, which consist of:

Cyndaquil
- Tackle
- Leer
- Smoke Screen

Bellsprout
- Vinewhip
- Growth

Pidgey
- Tackle
- Sand Attack
- Gust

Onix
- Tackle
- Screech
- Bind

Now I am aware that this early in the game I dont have the strongest moves. But, once I get to the point where I can learn them I'll start to get confused. Because, I don't know what the best move set is for a Pokemon in general. Like somewhere I read that it's better to have one attack move and several stat changing moves. But, whenever I see the 'Ultimate' team from some random player, they list all the moves as attack moves and nothing else.

When I get playing on Fire Red/Leaf Green I want to make those Pokemon count so I can use them in battle against people. So, what is the best way of designing a move set?
