This team rocketed me to fifty-third on the Shoddy ladder if anybody's wondering. Has beaten Dormin Arisen, anajalim (well, technically it's still 1-1), and Jabba before, so I'm pretty happy with it. Nevertheless, improvement calls. Now that the bragging and stuffs is done, RMT... or else.

Gengar @ Leftovers - Kenyans!
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Substitute
-Hypnosis
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast

This actually works. Sure, I miss Thunderbolt too, but Hypnosis and a few Shadow Balls to the face does the same thing to Gyarados. =P This thing killed a Blissey once. Which was totally cool.

Magnezone @ Leftovers - Everything you ever wanted. came. in. a. ROCKET CAN!!!
Nature: Modest
EVs: 172 HP, 252 Special Attack, 84 Speed.
-Thunderbolt
-HP Ice
-Magnet Rise
-Substitute

Bronzong can suck a lemon. So can Skarmory... and Metagross. Anyways, it kills things. A neat side effect is that it can actually fight non-EQ Gyarados. =P Some special offense is cool.

Garchomp @ Choice Band - It's like adding chocolate to an electrical storm!
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw
-Outrage
-Fire Fang

CBChomp is fuuuun! I may try ScarfChomp, but 2HKO'ing Cress is pretty interesting for now. Dragon Claw's mainly so I don't die to Mamoswine Ice Shard so early in the game.

Swampert @ Leftovers - Win at everything forever! Running, football, arson, weddings...
Nature: Careful
EVs: 240 HP, 44 Defense, 212 Special Defense
-Rest
-Sleep Talk/Avalanche
-Waterfall
-Curse

I was talked into using this considering my team's got those Weavile/Tar issues and I needed recovery. Awesome. I may consider replacing the replacement of Sleep Talk for Avalanche or something, considering that Dragons can be rather dangerous to this team.

Gyarados @ Choice Scarf - Too energetic for normal sports!
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 80 HP, 252 Attack, 176 Speed
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang

Surprisingly, this is my answer to several things my team has issues answering. It provides a reasonably safe switch-in to Swine, Ape, and even other Gyarados. Don't knock it 'till trying it.

Tyranitar @ Life Orb - Aaaaauuuugggghhh!!!
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Attack, 252 Speed
-Dragon Dance
-Crunch
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake

Awesomest ever late-game sweeper. Pwns j00. 'Nuff said. Seriously, though, this thing tends to take out at least two Pokemon per game. More if conditions are good.

Eww, use Jolly on DD Tar or its not worth using IMO, that way you can beat all base 115's aka, Azelf, Raikou AND Starmie after a DD, which is of more use than getting outsped and owned by revenge kills, from Jolly Garchomp and anything faster than it which is all adamant grants you after a DD =/...

Looks pretty good, but I will say that relying on a SR weak pokemon locked into one attack on a team with no rapid spinner and a sandstream starter could be problematic. Even though you don't bring out Tar early game, Roar can do that for you.

Swords Dance [email protected] Orb kinda owns swampert, its a 2hko with either Night Slash or Ice Punch..

What i would suggest is that you forget the "psuedo CroCune" set up and use Hammer Arm/Waterfall/Rest/Sleep Talk or something, just make sure to pack def evs in there...Hammer arm beats weavile.

Oh and Btw, Swampert and Gyarados dont like Mamoswine so much, be careful of those, EQ and stone edge, hurts. ALOT.

In regards to your avatar, Porygon 2 = epic win =)

eh analjim can't use his team effectively on you (JollyWobb centered) cause it can't come in on anything really >.>

Anyway Sub on Gengar to beat Blissey is obsolete since every Blissey has Ice Beam/Flamethrower/TB now, and with Obi/Jumpman's new analysis Bliss doesn't run SToss anymore >.>

Anyway I like this team, haven't used CBChomp since I first started out, its fun =D

I will say the same thing as the other raters, namely relying on Gyarados with no recovery/SR weakness to counter Mixape and stuff isn't really good considering that Dos can be worn down on repeated switchins.

I also think that the RestTalkCurse set doesn't counter Weavile and Mamoswine, Weavile's CB Night Slash is a 2HKO I think, Mamoswine's LO EQ can 2HKO while CB EQ is a guranteed 2HKO.
I was about to recommend Bongzong, but it wouldn't fit. I would say that RestTalk Cune would be a great fit in Swampert's place - Surf/Rest/Sleep Talk and Ice Beam or HP Electric if you think you would have trouble with Gyarados.
Magnezone walls Zapdos and TB/HP Ice pokemon so you don't need to worry too much about that. Suicune also takes on Heatran and Garchomp well, if your opponent knows Gyara has Choice Scarf it could serve as a backup.
Magnezone also can deal with Tar efficiently - smack some more Speed EVs so Magnet Rise goes first against standard Tar (80 speed to outrun Skarm), or just switch Chomp in on the Stone Edge and sweep =P Pert is 2HKOed by CB Chomp anyways.

I hope you stay since this place needs more good battlers =P

Exactly. =D Though Wobby was mean to Swampert when I first played him. D=

I wasn't advertising it as packing Sub to beat Blissey. Mainly that it actually did beat Blissey. Ignore the better part of my bragging sometimes. =D

Surprisingly, it hasn't really ended up haunting me lately. I am kinda starting to worry about it, though.

I've only heard on the SD Night Slash being 2HKO, so it's probably not CB. I'm getting to think that, yeah, Swampert's not covering the whole problem, though.

Probably wouldn't. =P

Anyhow, Suicune actually sounds like a fair option. I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes. I desperately need more Ice coverage, anyways.

I probably will. =D

Usually ends up being a big prediction-fest, with Gyarados being a safe switch-in for everything other than Stone Edge, and Maggy and Chomp coming in on that.

huh? the main point is coming on moves like stealth rock or softboiled.. it has plenty of chances.

anyway

team looks pretty solid.. funny how scarfGar can potentially kill your entire team if used right, lol.

Curse Swampert looks like a serious liability.. Celebi will switch in and Grass Knot to death. Setting up Stealth Rock would at least help you for the rest of the match.

Magnezone also looks weird.. most Skarmory use Shed Shell anyway, and it is easily walled by Blissey. Explosion would at least grant you a kill.. but yeah that's personal preference.

Uh... no. kthnx. Hypnosis usually means the opponent's going to switch out. Oh, look! Two crippled moves on my Gengar now. Plus, Shadow Ball and Focus Blast gives me most of my needed coverage, anyhow. It's pretty much the reason I'm not running Psychic. =P

And, y'know, Sub lets me scout the opponent (usually also means Blissey doesn't TWave if it comes out, making for a better switch-in with the rest of my team. It gives Gengar something nice to hide behind, when the opponent switches in something else. I've actually caught a Weavile unawares like that once. In general, Sub's just a useful move on Gar. Better than Dream Eater, at any rate. =P

I don't suppose you see either on this team. =P

Well, yeah, it's all a big prediction bout, like a few other things. Most of the time, I end up switching in rightly. Also, Swampert's bulky enough to take repeated shots from Shadow Ball, so it's a makeshift definite switchin. =P I'm still trying out Suicune, though.

Doesn't Celebi do that to almost every Swampert? =P

Friggin' UFOs tend to.

I aim Maggy at Bronzong, Forretress, Metagross, etc. a lot. And, really it's been doing fine. Bronzong's such a mean thing to my team. ;_; The advantage of taking on Leftovers Skarm is a benefit I guess.

Quote:

Yeah, but I'm not usually too eager to get Magnezone suiciding, and Sub (the main thing I'd probably replace for Explosion) is sorta useful for similar reasons as it is on Gar. I might give it a whirl, though.

Well it seems like you totally misunderstood some stuff I said... which is kinda annoying, but I'll explain it again..

Quote:

eh? who the hell meant your team? the use of jolly/timid Wobba is switch on walls like Blissey/Bronzong/Swampert/etc who use a non damaging move like Softboiled, Toxic Spikes, Stealth Rock, Reflect, etc - and then Encore them while using Tickle to lower their defence. But that is totally irrelevant to this thread. I was merely telling Aquilae its uses and that it CAN switch in on many occasions without getting hurt.

Quote:

Once again if you read what I said carefully you'd see what I meant here - standard Swampert sets up Stealth Rock as Celebi switches in.. of course he's not gonna stay but at least you got SR on the field now... While your Swampert can't really do anything and is a very big liability with Curse, at least that's how I see it. With only Waterfall as his attack and a declining speed he's gonna get walled or beat very soon.

Aquilae did. =P And as far as I can tell, he was talking more about it being rather ineffective against my team specifically than in general.

Yes, I read what you typed. Stealth Rock. Meh. I'd like to know how exactly Curse ends up being a liability, though. Not much is going to actually succeed in walling Swampert for very long if it gets Cursed up, and Celebi's really the big thorn - not like I don't have ways to get rid of Celebi, anyhow. Swampert's also pretty dang bulky with that kind of EV support and a Curse under its belt. I sorta doubt everything in the room is going to be able to beat it up.

Overall, I've actually been using Swampert more lately (possibly owing to a big lack of SD Weaviles I've seen), and it's done the job pretty dang well. Suicune hasn't quite been as successful for me in a more general area (though it does a better job of keeping away things like Mence), but I'm still testing it out.

If Waterfall is your only attacking move on Swampert, then Vaporeon with Toxic is going to mess it up, or Roar out your next Pokemon since you must swap out eventually. I guess that's why Magnezone's there?

The team is pretty solid overall. Mixape does pose a problem if it can get in (can't switch in easily, but when in, you gotta be careful with Gyarados if it's physical ape, in which Swampert will stop. If MixApe has HP Ice, then you gotta be REALLY careful for that cuts out Garchomp's ability to come in.)
