My confidence was completely shot last tourny, so i tried to get it up doing some wifi battles...but my team did absolutely horrible, and it was the last straw when i got 5-0'd by some n00b and i wont mention how...but right now i am just down in the dumps about this game but i want to do something about it. I want a team that WORKS TOGETHER. I want a team that HITS WEAKNESSES WHILE COVERING THEIR OWN. My last team didnt do that, literally they just flew all over the place, i couldnt beleive i called that a team. Here's what i've come up with, honestly, i'd appreciate ANY rates and fixes i can get, im really down on myself about the game since my terrible showing at that tourny...

Salamence @ Life Orb
Jolly, 220 HP/12 Attack/196 Def/80 Speed

Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Dragon Dance
Roost

This is bulkymence. He is very bulky. I hope he's bulky enough as a bulky lead so he can *bulk* the competition. Wow that was weird lol But yeah i have absolutely NO CLUE what this thing is capable of sept countering hera and luke.

Careful
Thick Fat
252 Hp/ 252 Sp. Def./ 4 Def.

Crunch
Body Slam
Rest
Sleep Talk

Sleep absorber and my sp. wall. This thing hasn't let me down yet so it stays. I can name about 3 times snorlax has taken out entire teams.

Infernape @ Expert Belt
Jolly Nature
252 Att, 252 Spe, 6 HP
Stone Edge
Swords Dance
Close Combat
Flare Blitz

This is my infernape. He hurts you...ALOT. I havent tested this moveset yet but it looks promising.

[email protected] Berry
Impish
252 Hp/ 252 Defense/ 4 Attack

Power Whip
Knock Off
Earthquake
Rest

Physical Wall. The other tangrowth moveset wasn't working out great for me so i switched to this and it's alot better. Knock off is amazing, and earthquake has predicted infernape 5 times now and going.

Adamant
252 Hp/252 Attack/ 4 Speed
No Gaurd
Rest
Sleep Talk
Ice Punch
Dynamic Punch

Restalker machamp...standard yet it's my TTar counter...

[email protected]
Timid
Natural Cure
160 HP / 132 SpA / 216 Spe

Rapid Spin
Recover
Thunderbolt

I lost a match to Stealth rock so i'm putting in a rapid spinner that can also take place as my other special sweeper and i thought starmie, which is perfect for the job. Dont know much about it's item, but i can say that it's reliable.

Well pokecommunity, any rates or fixes would greatly be appreciated. I hope we can come to a conclusion about what team ill be using...

Ok first of all i would put Ice fang on aero becuase it can take out things like dragonite,Garchomp, and salamance which are ever so common. its up to you what to replace ice fang with.

Ok for this teamn curse-lax might be more useful.
Curse
crunch
EQ
rest
Make it hold leftovers.

Infernape is good. but watch out for Speedy gengars and garchomps ..and salamances...dragonites...

Tangrowth hmm
the move set is good but it could be an amazing supporter by this moveset.
Leech seed(breeding)
Substitute
Toxic
knock off
This tangrowth is an all out team supporter with this set. its not using its full potential but your team needs a supporters.

I use the same set for my forlass its a good move set good job.

Ok for a rapid spinner i would suggest Blastoise because it has forsight when can get through ghost so he can rapid spin even against walls and hes not that bad of a wall.

8/10 some flaws keep on working :D

i was considering ice fang but all the things it hits as leads (salamence, gyrados in one way...) the other moves would be better. Double edge does ALOT of damage and i feel a super effective STAB'd stone edge would do better against gyra and mence and basically have better coverage IMO.

I dont really like curse-lax...just not my taste...

for growth maybe sub...not sure though...forgot about leech seed...if anyone wants to know why i dont have sleep power is because of it's horrific accuracy...it never works for me.

I also need a blastoise set ive never used one before but i'd be intereted in knowing how...i dont really like forsight though...

All in all, thanks for the comment. Im glad SOMEONE helped me out...

Okay, first off. Never use Stealth Rock on Aerodactyl. Ever. Focus Sash can work, but I prefer CB or Life Orb set if the locked on move isn't that suitable.

Aerodactyl @ Life Orb/Choice Band
Jolly Nature
252 Att, 252 Spe, 6 HP
Ice Fang/Fire Fang
Crunch
Stone Edge
Earthquake

Makes a great lead as it outspeeds nearly all leads excluding those rare Deoxys-e leads.

Infernape with Earthquake? No no no. Use Stone Edge to give you an extra boost against Dragons. I used this and it did a great job.

Infernape @ Life Orb/Expert Belt
Jolly Nature
252 Att, 252 Spe, 6 HP
Stone Edge
Thunderpunch/Swords Dance
Close Combat
Flare Blitz

I strongly reccomend Swords Dance over Tpunch. Close Combat does more than Thunderpunch against bulky waters besides Gyarados, which Stone Edge completely murders with Expert Belt.

You can keep Froslass, but I really think NP Azelf would do. Smogon has the set if you want it.

KT, I'm just going to extend on that and say just to not use Aerodactyl. Honestly, a lot of choice scarfers hit harder than its banded version (Heracross, heck even Garchomp).

And with Crobat, the idea is to U-Turn out if the risk of Explosion missing is too costly ._. Crobat is one of the best leads I have ever used in my experiences.

Anyways, keep it as resttalk Snorlax. Curselax lacks/lax [/horrible joke] the ability to take special hits well when it is too worried about boosted its physical stats, not to mention that it still gets owned by a lot of physical attackers even after one or tow Curses.

Honestly I'd take out Froslass, who Gengar totally outclasses at special sweeping. Gengar has a ground immunity and ghost/fighting sports even better coverage than boltbeam, not to mention it hits standard special walls for at least some amount of damage. Gengar >>> Froslass, even though Gengar is putperformed too, but that's a whole other argument.

Honestly though, Bronzong, Swampert, and Hippowdon are WAY better SR laying leads, and they help you a lot more than Aerodactyl. Tangrowth doesn't really cut it as a physical wall when it lacks any other real support, losing to common sweepers like Metagross, Lucario, Heracross, and Salamence. With Earthquake it is better against Meta and Luke, but not all that reliable (especially with how common SR and SS are, and Starmie won't always have time to spin things away).

To help with this, I would get a physical wall to put over Aerodactyl to help out Tangrowth. Hippowdon is IMO the best physical wall DP has to offer and it makes an awesome SR setter, but the SS damage would hurt your team. I would probably put in Weezing. It does well against the fighters you have trouble with, and unlike Gliscor, it makes a decent solution to Weavile. Starmie and Froslass as your only fighting resists isn't going to cut it.

Oh dang forgot about Azelf and how its floating around now, gotta get me one...*n00b moment*

The infernape set makes ALOT of sense, and i acutally never considered infernape with SD lol swords dance+expert belt+ STAB'd close combat= HURT. Ill deffinately do that set thanks.

Now about Aerodactyl, ive tried him out so far and the strategy i made up with for the sash+stealth rock HAS worked, but agianst SOME weavile and arcanine leads sometimes use extreme speed/ice shard to kill it before it goes it, in my own opinion, it's THAT predictable isnt?? I might go with Anti's advice and drop it altogether for another wall. More on that in his response...

Anti, anti, anti. I've known you since last year, and out of ALL the raters ive come to on this forum...you've helped me out the most. For that, i gotta thank you for your hard work in these ratings, i appreciate you so much you're in my sig even lol...i really appreciate it alot...anyway...

I'm not so sure about hippowden. I have considered it because ever since it saw it in action in PBR wifi i was AMAZED with what it could do. It's greatest downfall however...is...as you mention...it's sandstorm ability. I have to say, it's awesome in SS teams, but this is no SS team lol. My opponents sandstorm has even won me *MATCHES* it's unbeleivable the stories i can say about sandstorm. And that is why i have to say no. If it wasn't for the ability...I'd GLADY put it in...but it just wont cut it.

Hows about Donphan?? Same type, partial dragon coverage and the thing i think takes physical hits as good as Hipowden does. I don't think it has slack off like Hippowden does (or does it??) but i think it's more offensive on the trade-in.

Haven't had too much trouble with Luke and Heracross(scarfed even) tbh, beleve it or not *shrug* i actually have more trouble with pokes like GENGAR *pikngfvikndbv oipnbv dn EXTREME HATE* and Garchomp. Salamence bugs me alot too if it's the specs version, but with Snorlax im covered. I usually predict a switch after about 2 draco meteors so i usually switch(after resting the first meteor) to someone who i know has good coverage with my knowledge of their team so it pretty much works out from there...i also have trouble with Mixape *sometimes*..but mixape will be mixape huh??(ESPECIALLY if their good and predict EXACTLY the right time to NP..hate that so much...)

About frosslass, you feel i should take it out for Gengar?? Well, i would, it's just i kind of hate it in my wn way, so im guna have to say no. I may seem like a n00blet for saying this, but REALLY DO hate gengar as much as i'm saying i am. Though i think there are other pokes with same base speed/sp. atk as him. Espeon? *shrug* I might jus listen to KT and go with Azelf.

and thanks guys for the GREAT comments...its starting to boost my confidence a bit more...

For a poke with same speed and sp. atk as Gengar, you could go with somthin like electrode. My electrode has done a great job against most pokes.

If you're thinkin on replacing aero with another wall, I would actually recommend dusknoir. It has high sp. def and def, and can learn some pretty well-rounded movesets.

yea that could work. I dont know much about electrode but i do know he's pretty darn fast.

Dusknoir could also work. Ice/thunder punch deals out punishment as well as WOW and split...

dangit I wanna get praised like Anti-

I'm a better rater than Anti *gets shot*

Bleh, a little correction in Anti's comments. Hippo doesn't help against Luke and Hera, it gets 2HKOed by CBHera and takes ~40% from ScarfHera. Luke's CC after an SD is around 88% which is bad.

Aerodactyl doesn't do anything for this team as it gets easily walled and SR can be set up by a myriad of other pokemon which would provide better defensive support than Aerodactyl.
I also think Crobat wouldn't do much for this team.

Hera and Luke weakness, and Tangrowth doesn't have reliable healing (no Leech Seed? =( ) which makes it easily worn down. For a start I would say go BulkyMence over Aerodactyl, it can help against the aforementioned threats Hera and Lucario as well as having the possibility of netting a late game sweep with Dragon Dance. Since you have a Spinner to keep Stealth Rock off the field this would complement BulkyMence nicely since Stealth Rock weakness is crippling for BulkyMence.

The next thing you should do is replace Tangrowth for Celebi, Bold 252 HP/220 Def/36 Speed, Reflect/Leech Seed/Grass Knot/Recover. With Reflect Celebi can take on physically-based threats that switchin such as Tyranitar (leaving it on Hera is suicidal however) and helps against Mamoswine as well as providing team support on a whole. Mono-Grass Knot Celebi won't stop Breloom however, but it is quite easy to predict the Spores (if you want more elaboration on this I would post again).

Now, I would recommend a change in the two sweepers Infernape and Froslass. Being frail both of them have limited opportunities to switch in and start dealing damage. I would recommend something to cover your Weavile weakness, RestTalkMachamp should fit the bill providing better Tyranitar coverage as well, and Dynamicpunch's 100% confusion is abusive (some dude on Shoddy took out 5/6ths of my team with the confusion alone). Ice Punch would help for Gliscor, and it is what I would recommend.

For the next sweeper I'm going to say you should pick your own powerful sweeper since tbh I can't think of any that provides perfect synergy with your team. Preferably a setup sweeper or a Specs/Band sweeper, mostly I'm looking at SpecsLuke posessing a great typing and being fairly unexpected, and being able to break several special walls like Blissey. Run it with HP Ice to catch Gliscor on the switch.

And the last thing, you could change Snorlax to Choice Band, I've used it myself and its a great Choice Bander as it has great Special Defense and HP and decent Attack, but most importantly it gets Pursuit which snares frail Psychics/Ghosts like Gengar and Azelf. Most of the stuff that would be switching into Snorlax won't be appreciating 50% of their HP being taken off on the switchin.

Run Pursuit/Body Slam/Earthquake, the last slot could be either Crunch or Sleep Talk since you could use it against Gar or something since Machamp isn't really a good switchin to Gengar.

EDIT: Just realised this is a WiFi team, so I don't think that you could get HP Ice Lucarios easily. If it is the case just stick with Dragon Pulse.

hardc0rerock please do not rate teams without proper knowledge. Electrode is largely outclassed by Gengar sans the 20 points of speed which is redundant as Electrode couldn't pull off a sweep anyway. Dusknoir wouldn't address this team's major weaknesses like Hera/Luke and Weavile too.

EDIT EDIT: Recover > Thunderbolt on Starmie, Celebi handles Gyarados well enough.

I beat AP

Now Dusknoir is a great wall period.

Dusknoir @ leftovers
impish

toxic/will o wisp

i've seen another moveset, but i can't remember the held item and moveset.

I like your aero. but listen to the other people, stealth rock needs to go. and in my opinion so does double-edge. go for type coverage, you'd be surprised on how much more damage you can dish out. other than that, everything else has been said. hope i helped out :D

Electrode can't hurt anything with base special attack like Dugtrio's base attack. To put that into perspective, a Jolly Choice Banded Dugtrio with a STAB Earthquake still fails to OHKO a standard Tyranitar (as in the ones without all the mega defense EVs going on, and of course, Dugtrio hates those even more). Electrode just...isn't very good.

Honestly Donphan is outdated and totally outclassed by Hippowdon to the point where I would say even putting the SS in your team would be worth it...it's that big a difference IMO. Donphan's biggest problem is that it can't hurt anything that laughs at Earthquake and its recovery is poo. Use it if you want, but Hippowdon is a much better choice even considering Sand Stream.

And honestly, this team is REALLy Heraweak. It can OHKO everything on your team easily. Specs Lucario is a problem for Snorlax, and everything else is totally wasted by it too. SDluke isn't as big a deal with Aerodactyl around, but Aero is a dead weight anyways and Weezing or Gliscor or something would be a lot more helpful to your team than Aero would.

Honestly I don't see a glaring Gengar weakness. Snorlax handles it pretty well as long as you stay away from Choice Specs Focus Blast. I could see it being a little troublesome, but you have bigger problems.

And BTW to help that Garchomp weak, I'd go Recover >>> Thunderbolt on Starmie (seeing as Tnagrowth is a good enough counter to Gyarados) to increase its dirability and it makes a good SDchomp counter, which is the big popular set. Yache variants would hurt it, but eh, you can just revenge it since your team is fairly fast.

One thing I wanted to mention in the last post but forgot...Tangrowth has no recovery at all. Honestly, Earthquake and Knock Off are cool, but not necessary, so I'd go with a Resttalk combo or even Leech Seed >>> Earthquake would help.

EDIT: Man, I got beat by like 20 people.

Yeah, I was thinking Weezing mentioning Hera and Luke. My thoughts get all jumbled when I post this stuff :P

And you can't boast being a better rater yet. I have to rate in thunderstorms because Ohio sucks :P

Aerodactyl doesn't do anything for this team as it gets easily walled and SR can be set up by a myriad of other pokemon which would provide better defensive support than Aerodactyl.
I also think Crobat wouldn't do much for this team.
im really surprised of all the aero hate...i thought it would be praised lol guess not.

Since you have a Spinner to keep Stealth Rock off the field this would complement BulkyMence nicely since Stealth Rock weakness is crippling for BulkyMence.
The heck is bulky mence?? *n00bish* first time im hearing about this...literrally lol Im guessing since it's *bulky* it's obviously got HP ev's lol

Mono-Grass Knot Celebi won't stop Breloom however, but it is quite easy to predict the Spores (if you want more elaboration on this I would post again).
you dont have to eleborate on the spore it seriousy IS really predictable what SPOREloom does. Also, where would i get a celebi =/ this isnt for shoddy morely for wifi as i actually HAVE a local meta that i want to dominate...though i CANNOT tell you how haxed my matches were lol (example- night slash crit x3 times in a row! 1st round!! CB weavile!!) anyway...guess i gotta go to da trade forumzzz

Ice Punch would help for Gliscor, and it is what I would recommend.
Seriously?? I could understand frossy but nape too?? Is restalk machamp becoming top or something that thing's being tossed around like no-tomorow i see it on PBR wifi random it's becoming so common it's CRAZY. The reason why i took it out from my last team is because when i used restalk i went like this-

"Machamp used sleep talk!
Machamp used rest! Machamp is still sleeping!
Gliscor used swords dance! It's attack greatly rose!
Machamp used sleep talk!
Machamp used Rest! Machamp is still sleeping!"-This happened MORE then once...

You get the idea...im NOT saying it's NOT GOOD beause of what i showed, im saying already with one sleeptalker, i feel that i dont want to have 1/4 of my team depending on sleep talk to counteract...

Well, im seriously all of opinions, i was thinking about specluke but eh, dont know. thanks alot for the great comment your suggestions make alot of sense.

Well right now this team has Aerodactyl which hurts this team even more since it essentially has five slots.

The SS recoil is overrated. I run it on every team I make that isn't total offense and most if not all of my pokemon are SS weak. It's just that good.

BTW Aquilae stop beating me!!!! This is no fun :(

:P

But weren't you just bashing CB Snorlax the other day despite its awesomeness (seriously, it is awesome)? :P

EDIT: Um, why would you leave a sleeping resttalk Machamp in on a SD Gliscor?

Resttalk Machamp is one of the best TTar counters out there, and it makes a sturdy pokemon and the confusion is also helpful.

Aquilae knows what he's talking about ;D

Actually STalk isn't really just for status absorbing, it is used with Rest for HP recovery. Anyway I also mentioned about the probable change from RestTalkLax to CBLax.

BulkyMence is:

Salamence @ Life Orb
Jolly, 220 HP/12 Attack/196 Def/80 Speed

Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Dragon Dance
Roost

This is the Dragon Dance variant just so you know.

And the Breloom comment, most people run Substitute/Spore/Focus Punch/Seed Bomb, they're not going to Spore first turn, instead they use Substitute to scout for Sleep Absorbers and beat them without activating Sleep Clause (like, say you switch to Lax on Breloom it would be done in by Focus Punch behind a Substitute)

The 1/3 chance of selecting Rest isn't detrimental, for one thing Gliscor doesn't commonly run Swords Dance (only I do but that's beside the point), anyway you're afraid of setup sweepers coming in on Machamp? I would say that is a risk to take when using a status absorber, Nasty Plot special sweepers could also pray for that 1/3 when battling RestTalkLax.

EDIT: I never bashed CBLax before, my ex-tutor used it on me and got a couple of free kills =( Anyway it is still a good special tank and has great offenses.

Um not to sound rude here, but what in the world are you talking about? Hippowdon doesn't just help itself...the idea of a pokemon helping itself only makes no sense either. Hippowdon is the best physical wall in DP, so please tell me how the addition of the best physical wall in standard play to a team weak to a good portion of physical sweepers hurts the team? SS only does 6% damage a turn, it's not that big of a deal =/

BTW Bulky Salamence is:

Salamence @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 224 HP / 12 Atk / 196 HP / 76 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Roost
- Earthquake

Does very well against Lucario and Heracross.

EDIT: lol beat again.

BTW go with Aquilae's EVs since these were off the top of my head and they're probably wrong :P

Donphan outdated?? aww that's pretty sad ='(...that thing was fun to outpredict with it's EXTREMELY standard moveset =D

So uh...did you REALLLY mean it with weezing countering luke and hera?? im guessing it would have flamethrower hurting both but i dont think you rly meant it or not...

oh...and about the *glaring gengar* weakness. That pokemon ALWAYS repeat- ALWAYS finds its own way or hax to ruin my plans. I remember it got so bad for me it crit me x2 with FOCUS BLAST. lmao oh well. *shrug* i have bad luck what can i say...

I *MIGHT* go with a rest-talk combo with tangrwoth...it isnt as big a deal as it is for champ as growth walls...we'll see...

and i thought chomp was classed uber?? *shrug* well whatevs, i never really cared tbh, but uhh sure ill replace t-bolt...

Weezing is a very good idea becuase it can shut down phisical sweepers with wilo-whisp and its also good with HAZE :D

CBlax?? sounds funky...i like choice band though.

BTW salamence...i never thought it could be so...*defensive* lol i didnt even know it could learn roost lol wow im such a n00b shame on me =/

But yeah, that should DEFFINATELY cover SD luke and heracross.

Also with sporeloom, i always jus switched to my crobat as it outspeeds it, has a flying move, and takes 25% fighting damage (Not to mention i THINK 25% from grass for seed bomb...). It handled the thing EASILY. But now...uhh *shrug*

Well if you lose to hax you can't say that's a fault when it comes to team construction.

Weezing is just good for a fighting resist. It's the best in the game IMO, but as a pure physical wall, it falls short. I agree this team needs it due to the Hera/Lucario weakness. I just don't see how losing 6% every turn justifies not using the most dominant physical wall in the game =/ I agree Weezing is better for this team, but Sand Stream shouldn't ever be the only reason not to use Hippowdon or TTar unless you're running a reversaler or something.

EDIT: Now you're beating me to this thread.

Honestly go Gliscor or Weezing instead of Hippowdon. The only point I'm amking is that its ability alone shouldn't make you not use it, thought this team needs a fighting resist a lot more at the moment.
