Sorry to hear that, Haine.

I've never lost any relatives of mine, but, about four years ago, a family friend of ours died. She was fifteen and her name was Lily. Lily had something wrong with her back (her spinal cord wasn't as straight as it should have been or something, I never found out the exact details, I didn't want to know them, to be honest) and she kept on bending lower and lower, so the doctors reccommended that she undergo a rather serious operation in which extra discs would be put into her back to make her spine straighter than it was. The operation wasn't a success. She lost the power of her legs first and three days after the operation she was on a life support machine. Then, a couple of hours later, she departed from this world. I don't know, I didn't know her that well but I completely lost it and was crying all day. It was something I still can't quite explain, ever now.
'It's been a prevalent notion. Fallen sparks. Fragments of vessels broken at the Creation. And someday, somehow, before the end, a gathering back to home. A messenger from the Kingdom, arriving at the last moment. But I tell you there is no such message, no such home -- only the millions of last moments . . . nothing more. Our history is an aggregate of last moments.'

Have you ever lost a loved one or someone dear to you?

I lost my sister to cancer in 1995. She was 29.
I've had a member of my family die from cancer, too. It was my great-great uncle on Monday 8 of December, 2003. Specifically, it was brain cancer. He was an amazing person, he fought in WWII and worked in the CIA afterwards. When my mom told me that he had died, I completely lost it. I think it was the first time I swore aloud, too.

I haven't lost anyone myself, but my best friend's dad was killed in a car accident right before his senior year in highschool. the worst part was that I was away volunteering at a christian camp/ hotel resort in another state and wasn't able to be there for the funeral. (His parents were divorced too.)

I lost my history teacher to a heart attack seven weeks ago. He was 49. He was the most amazing man I have ever met, and it took his death to realise I was in love with him. Not in a way that I would've made a move, but in a way that I cursed the universe every day for making him thirty three years older than me. He was my kindred spirit. I miss him every day.

Mmm.. seeing how someone made a thread dedicated to this really made my heart jump a beat. Thank you Haine Togu, you don't know how much I appreciate this.

Just three months ago, I had lost my mother due to overdosing. She didn't do it much, but it was enough to take her life. The day she passed away she was sleeping in her bed, I had gone to bed early the night before for whatever reason, I can't remember. I fell asleep around 3 p.m., and had woken up at 11 p.m., not being able to go back to sleep.

I had gone in her room, and I thought she may have looked up at me and smiled, but I can't be fairly certain. I remember going back in my room and hearing the bathroom door open and then close again shortly after; I assumed my mother had gone to the bathroom or something, which may or may not have been the case. Or, for that matter, it could have been someone else; like my grandfather or father, who both used the upstairs bathroom.

When morning came, my mother wasn't waking up. Since I didn't go to school and was going to start online classes (just that day my guidence counciler had called and asked us to schedule my classes), I had been home. My brothers were leaving, and my dad had came back to see if my mother had woken up; she didn't. We thought she was just knocked out, but that was uncertain. We didn't feel it was nesicarry to call 911, so we just let her sleep. I had gone downstairs to make my mother some coffee, thinking that she'd wake up by the time it was done, and I had started on my laundry.. then I had gone upstairs to browse the web and listen to some music.

Occassionally, we had gone in and out to check up on her. My father was laying down on his bed, since he slept on the floor, and my mother had slept on a bed by herself; she had authritus in the back, and he was playing with something which looked like a piece of sterdy string, and was rubbing it on her foot. Then, I asked him if he could go out to get something to eat - I wanted Taco Bell, so that's where he had gone to get me some lunch (I remember exactly what I asked for; Two soft tacos and a large Seirra Mist) and he was going to McDonalds to get my sister and him something to eat as well. He had gone.

I went back in my room; the time was about 12:30. I began watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on my iPod, laying down on my bed, facing the door. About ten minutes passed; I stopped the movie, went to check on my mother, who was still fine. I remember smiling, and bending down to see her face. She had some mucas on her bed, but I didn't know what had happened, so I went downstairs to check to see if my dad was back - he wasn't. With disappointment, I went back upstairs and continued the movie.

I was at the part when they began to mention death. This may have been a sign for me to go check on her. The time was 1:11, when I did. I had gotten up from my bed, and walked accross the hall to my parents room. The door was shut, since I had shut it so I wouldn't disturb her.

Read the below, if you wish. It may be deeply upsetting for a few people, but I'm not sure; so I had wrapped it in spoiler tags:

Spoiler:
My mother's bed was just left of the door. I had looked; her eyes were halfway open. Right then, I knew what had happened. I started shaking; as I am now, typing this, and went to feel her. She was cold. I then moved to check to see if she had a pulse; she didn't. I was home alone, and my father was on his way. I had rushed downstairs to see my dad's minivan pulling into the driveway. When my father had came in, I had said to him "Go check mommy." and his face seemed to be frozen in fear, but he rushed upstairs, dropping my meal on the floor; I followed.

He had checked to see if she was breathing, which I knew she wasn't. He ran downstairs and gotten the chordless phone, calling 911. He said "My wifes cold and she isn't breathing." They recommending my father to giving her CPR, while I heard sirens coming down the street.

They had arrived, and I was standing on the bottom of the stairs next to a window, looking out as many cars came to the house. I had pointed them in the right direction, and ironically, one of my friend's dad (who was a police officer) had told me to go to the kitchen; I listened.

Moments later my father had came downstairs, crying. He came to me and said "She's gone", struggling to say it. Then I said "no" and he hugged me. It was the first time I had seen my father crying, but that was expected. My brothers were about to come home from school.

My mother's body was taken out when my father had told me to go to the kitchen, shortly after going back upstairs because they had called him. He had came back into the kitchen with me. At that time, he called my aunt (my mother's sister), and my grandfather. He also called his mother, and asked my aunt to call my great-aunt and my great-grandmother from my mother's side of the family.

My brothers had gotten home, and my father had told them both. My youngest brother was the only one I saw was really hurt; though I know my other brother (the middle child) was hurt as well, he showed his emotions of sadness and grief in different ways. Shortly after they had came home, my grandfather had as well, and we all went into the kitchen, though I was not in the mood to be sitting there, pretending everything was alright (though I know they were just trying to calm us down)

I had taken the Pepsi bottle that my mother had used all the time to pour herself some soda, and went to the laundry room with it. I hugged it; as if it were her, and realized how much sentimental value it had now. Pepsi was her favorite drink, and I didn't want anyone to drink from it, which was the reason I had taken it.

The next few days, I was listening to many songs that ended up making me cry, and searching for articles of death and videos on Youtube of "My mom died". I found one video in particular that really made me feel much stronger. I admired the presense that the person recording it had, and how she was so strong as well during the time. She ended up being happily married with a baby boy. I don't recall her username, but that's something I will be looking up after posting this.

I know this is extremely long and completely unnessicary to post so much over a simple question; I just know I feel much better after typing this. Again, thank you for creating this thread, Haine Togu.

I lost my mother when I was nine-years-old. She had two strokes... for the first one, she was fine after a while... enough to send her home... but on the same day she got to go home, she had another one. I was the only one there with her, and I ended up calling 911. She was in a coma for a year, and one night they just couldn't help her anymore. Other than that, no, I haven't lost anyone.

My father died when I was five. If I remember correctly, it was a brain aneurysm, although I could be wrong; I don't really like asking about it. I guess I was lucky I wasn't around. He was in England with my mom and little brother, while my sister and I were back in the US. I think it would've been much worse if I'd been there.
The funeral's fuzzy at best. I don't even remember when I was told he was dead, crying over it, or even being upset over it. Then again, I remember very little about my father. :/

Other than that, I've been lucky not to lose close family. It's going to hurt when I do, I just know it.

my grandpa from my Dad's side died about..uh 5 years ago maybe? Well anyway i'll tell ya all what happened... :(

I was sleeping at my Gran's house - my Mum's side - and woke up. I got dressed and found out i was going to the cinema with my little cousin and my Gran. So i go and come back home. I walked in to see my Mum and Dad on the couch, looking very sad. 30 minutes had passed and i had settled down to watch T.V. Then my Mum and Dad told me. i tried to hold my tears in.. but it was way too hard. I burst out crying into the couch.

I remember about two months ago i burst out crying in KFC about it. I didn't even know why i was crying.. i just burst when i thoughty about it...

Also my Great Uncle. I didn't know him much but i know exactly what happened. My Great Aunt had woke up one morning and asked my Great uncle if he wanted to get up. He had fought off cancer and he was always tired. He said okay, which came as quite a shock to my Great Aunt. She got him some tea and went up,to find him on the bed. He was out for it. She checked his pulse, nothing. she completely dropped the tea and then called my Mum's side of the family.. :(

I've actually lost several people I've cared about...

When I was six years old I came home to my father sitting at the table, holding his face in both hands and crying, when I asked my mom what had happened. She told me that my grandmother had died due to complications with her liver, because of her drinking problem...

About two months later I came home from school to find my father gone, I asked my mom where he'd went, and she said he was away in Marathon (the nearest town with a vet....), with our dog at the vet... She had fallen down the stairs and cracked her skull... a few hours later she died... and two days later we buried her in my other grandmothers backyard...

A month after this, after hearing we would have to move, since the mine where my father worked had had to lay off several employees... My father was in the town where we would be soon moving, and was checking on how our house was doing (we were paying to have one built) and on his way home he was hit by a transport truck driven by a drunk driver on the wrong side of the road.... I came home from school to find my entire family there. About an hour after we came home my mom took my sisters and I into my room and told us what had happened... I then spent about 15 minutes crying face-down in my pillow before I had composed myself enough to leave.... I then told my cousins what had happened... but they didn't seem to care.... No one else seemed to care, not even my best friends.... For several weeks I was more angry than sad, since no one else seemed to understand...

The worst part of it all is though; for the past 9 years we have been at trial with this man's insurance company, and after all this time living below the poverty line we got NOTHING! Nothing for these years of suffering, nothing for all those years of lost wages..... EVERYTHING!

The irony of the whole situation is that if my father had died about three hours later, his life insurance would have kicked in...

I believe that the Haine Togu started this thread on Serebii too, under the guise Imari, correct?

Anyways, I feel for everyone with losses, I understand. But Nanako, you're the shallowest person I've ever been unfortunate enough to meet. Although, here's my losses.

My dog, my cat, and my birds died years ago. My cousin died 2 days before my birthday two years ago. He was in a car accident on his way to the airport to come see us. It was also his [and my] friend's birthday. My grandfather died 4 days before my birthday, but I can't remember what year, due to a heart attack. My Uncle Frederik died last year. There's a lot of death, and most of it around my birthday. It's why I hate my birthday. No one is happy. Last year, my friend Jessica died. Her Aunt's boyfriend posed as a guy on the internet, got in her nice books, and asked her to come round. He then chloroformed her, drugged her, raped her repeatedly, and then smashed her head in with a hammer. He put her in his closet for about a week, and then cops found her body. And just recently my recently born nephew died. RIP Connor Alexander Michalski.
