The companies that do mass fishing are rapidly depleting the numbers of fish before they have enough time to breed and replenish their numbers. This means less fish for species that we don't eat (dolphins, whales, sharks). Anyone know if it's possible to have fish farms? Or a really giant tank?
Most companies I know of don't go out and mass-fish in the ocean/rivers. There are many fish farms with many thousands of fish in each. Individual fishing doesn't leave any sort of trace of an impact on the evironment, and most large companies farm their fish.

Yeah, I knew on an individual level, we hardly leave any impact on the fish population. Also, it's probably mostly non-American companies who mass-fish, since we have so many regulations on everything. I don't know though, just the first glance on a Google search for "overfishing" gives many results. =\

A) Whales and dolphins are not fish.

B) Yes there are fish farms, I myself have visited a salmon farm is Scotland. The balance of harvest and replenishment is fine, and therefore no longer a good example of human evil.

I know that most of the fish that are available in the store are farm-raised, which mean their population is controlled.

As for the natural population, we don't eat nearly enough fish to have a noticeable impact on the number of fish in oceans, lakes. I'm pretty sure they hatch like hundreds of eggs per spawning.

I can't believe we're actually talking about fish....=P

I don't think fishing, eating meat or other similar activities are much of a problem to the world as say, global warming or threats from space, actually, I doubt they're a problem, while it is true humans can survive with a meat free diet, addittional protein supplements would have to be purchased, which many cannot afford, and even then, not every single necessary protein will be supplied by this medication, nor will they balance the lack of energy cmoing from eating only vegetables, so in my opinion, fishing and other activities should not be considered a problem unless it is done in exxagenration, which is not the case

Although it will inevitably get worse, I think the world has gotten better, at least where I live. Its sunny everyday with clear blue skies, crime rates have gone down (where I live) and life is just overall more enjoyable.

Maybe I'm just ignorant. :P

I'm all for ditching technology and living in the mountain side as a hermit. Living solely off nature, only taking what I need and always giving back when I can...but then I look to the more logical/lazy part of me and he says "get out of here!"
In other words, I think technology has come too far, there isn't enough danger in our world. We are too dependant on these machines and methods, most people couldn't imagine life without them. The whole Economic system annoys me as well, it leads people to get more then what they need and others getting less. I'm no hippy or whatever, I just think that we can live without a whole lot of this stuff...You all know Dragon Ball right? Well I wanna live like Goku was at the start xD That would be AWESOME!!!
