Well basically, a Pokemon will only listen to you if you have so many badges if it's traded to you, as we all know. Say if you have 3 badges and get traded a 70 level Pokemon it will either do different attacks or no attack at all...now I'm having this problem, but with a Pokemon I never got at that level.

My Mew recently reached level 70, and while I was trying to battle with it it's been totally ignoring me which I find odd since when it was traded to me it was barley level 10, so it had reason to obey me then and whenever I leveled it up, so why is it starting this now, any suggestions?

Also before you ask I have 6 badges but again, the Pokemon is one I've had since level 10 and such

thanks in advance for clearing this up guys!

EDIT: Fixed the post to say I had 6 badges at the time, though at the time of making this edit I now have 7, which still isn't enough but still

Its a problem that I think is only with Mew because my brothr had this problem too with his Mew. I dont know the explanation though.

Yeah, my Staraptor is above level 70 and obeys my every command, it must be related to the fact that it's a legendary Pokemon or something along those lines, but it's still confusing as I've not heard of such a thing before...o.o

It's not just mew, any poke that wasnt caught by you will not obey you when it's level exceeds a limit set by the number of badges you have. 5 is too few for a poke at such a high level to obey. The following badges make pokes obey:

1st: No traded pokes will immediately obey
2nd: Traded pokes up to lvl 30 obey
3rd: --
4th: Traded pokes up to lvl 50 obey
5th: --
6th: Traded pokes up to lvl 70 obey
7th: --
8th: All pokes will obey

So you need one more badge for it to start listening, and then you will need the 8th once it goes over 70.

Awww crap x.x

That means Mew will now officially not listen to me until I have all 8 badges now :( and it's no doubt going to fall behind everyone else while it's not in use...this is just fine and dandy...oh well, can't do anything about it now.

Believe me, a level 70 uber is gonna rip through the elite 4 by himself- most people go in with regular teams of 45-55 pokes. You should have no problems with it being too low a level.

Fall behind? How in the hell do you actually have a level 70 Pokemon and only have 5 badges? At that point, your Pokemon shouldn't be half that.

By the way, if that Mew was migrated/ obtained from Pokemon Ranch, then it undoubtedly has a different OT/ID than you, meaning the game will consider it traded.

I trained it nigh on religously, it's the only one that is close to being that high though (it gains boosted EXP whenever it wins a battle)

Also, it came from a Pokemon event held in the UK last year, Pokemon Summer Day Camp which I attended but it was only available for the GBA games so my friend had to send me it

You trained it religiously on LEVEL 20-30 POKES. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT. Seriously, it deserves to disobey you. >:(

Ooookay o.O Why does that matter? They're just pixels at the end of the day, not like I killed them...

Not what I meant. You bothered to train a Pokemon to LEVEL 70 on Pokemon 40-50 LEVELS BELOW IT. WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU GRIND THAT LONG. SERIOUSLY.

Well, even if they are just pixels, if you think of them that way, why bother to play? Also, its kinda shocking that you trained your pokemon that much without winning more badges. Thats how you get your pokemon to obey you. You get them all to obey you once you defeat the last badge.

Because it takes some sort of mental deficiency to have the patience to grind THAT much.

Not quite what I was getting at, it's just that I thought airconditioning was getting at me using such low Pokemon to train on when he said "

as if it was unfair and such, but I read it the wrong way as you see.

And I think it's best this thread get back on topic, rather than going on and on about how much I trained my Mew, or rather how I actually did it. (no offence, but it is straying a bit)

I would like to point out at this point that my starter pokemon on Pearl was constantly leveling up before the badges and it was hard to keep up with it. I had traded it to my friend and then traded back to get a boost, i also had a lucky egg on it for the later part. I'ts not that hard getting a pokemon to level up quickly after that. Even with lower level pokemon. I think laying into someone just because they have a good Pokemon is just rude. He has done nothing but 'train' his pokemon the same thing we are all doing. Some people don't go straight to follow the story line and just battle.

Anywhere and everywhere basically ^^;;; I just used whatever areas I was nearby that would have level 30 Pokemon in.

@ Tigger

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, I'm actually quite shocked people even took notice of it to tell you the truth o.o

So was I lol. I was thinking how is that important. Don't worry I get it. It happened to me too xx Each time it happened I went for the next badge. But at the bit where the guy is stood outside the safari, I was stuck for about a month coz I kept walking past him thinking I had already spoken to him. Which is why my Infernape got really high. I had nothing else to do but battle lol. Till I thought hey that guy looks like one of Team Galactic lol.

It wasn't so much because I was stuck (the only time that's really happened thus far was when I couldn't find the Strength HM and forgot I'd not bothered to go up The Lost Tower ( ^^;;; ) but most of the time it was just because I simply wanted to train my Mew, not much else to say really.

I made a bit of a typo in the main post though, I actually had 6 badges at the time of writing it and I now have 7, it still won't obey me though but I'm just mentioning the mess up and such

Don't give me that. I have a bunch of EV trained and IV bred Pokemon- there's nothing wrong with having strong Pokemon. There IS something wrong with training a Pokemon from 10 to 70 on LEVEL 30 POKEMON. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG THAT WOULD TAKE. If you're masochistic enough to grind a single Pokemon to that level, why the hell wouldn't you at least try to follow the story and grind higher level Pokemon, or at least get new badges?

and why the hell would you care how someone else plays the game? I grinded my Mew, get over it already. I find it incredibly shocking that you care so much actually...

It's really just shock at how you can possibly find grinding a Mew to level 70 on Pokemon 40 levels below it fun. Seriously.
